September or October

What week would you think would be better (in terms of crowds, weather, attractions?) October 14-21, 2006 or September 23-30, 2006?

Hi, from personal experience, I would say the September dates. I have seen October pick up with crowds due to MNSSHP and the food/wine festival (I think that starts the last day of Sept). Hope this helps.

We are looking at Oct 20-25 we went Sept 28-Oct 2 in 2004 wasn't crowded but very hot. Also which is likely to be affected by hurricane season Sept or Oct?
Thanks

We were at WDW during the second week of October this past year. Crowds were much, much larger than in the past. Lots and lots of kids were on fall break PLUS the F & W Festival was in full swing.

Since I cannot get away from school in September, I cannot give any personal experiences with that month; but, judging from the posts on here, it was a great time to visit!

Your September dates would be value season (cheapest!) but your October dates are in regular season so if money's an object, go in September. We went last year in mid-September and encountered no lines and not one drop of rain all week! We know we were lucky. The only downside we saw was that it was hotter than blue blazes still, so if the heat bothers you, go in October. Aren't I helpful? :earboy2:

We went this past Oct. 6-15. It was still very HOT! (We are from Oregon, so dripping with sweat every day was a bit weird!) And from talking with others there (it was our first time)-- the crowds were quite large.
So------ weather wise: probably HOT in either Sept. or Oct.
and crowds: possibly fewer people there in Sept. with the start of school.

Hope this helps! :earsboy:

We went mid-October 2004. The weather was great, and the crowds weren't bad. We're going again Oct 14-21, 2006 (kid's fall break). But all this talk about big crowds in October is making me nervous. By the way, why do kids get a "fall break" now? We never got "fall break" when I was in school - maybe a Friday off in mid-October, but that was it!

September is more susceptible to hurricanes. The first 3 days of Oct. are still value, so if you check in on one of those days, the rest of you stay is at value rate as well, I just recently found this out.

We went in 2005, September 25-October 1. Crowds were very light. It was extremely hot though, rained 1 day for an hour, but we loved it. We're going back this year at the same time.

In 2002, we went the middle of October. Actually it rained 2 days, the weather was cooler but the crowds were higher. Not much, but as some have been posting that must have changed in 3 years. Seems the crowds are higher now in October than they used to be.

Go in Sept...we usually go then and have no problems with crowds. In 2005, we went the first couple days of Oct and because of MNSSHP & Epcot F&W just starting it was much busier. Check the dates to see when they start and if you want shorter lines...avoid those dates ::yes::

Another vote for September. I just got back on a trip from September 12-17 and the longest we ever stood in line for a ride was 10 minutes (maybe 15 minutes MAX)! I actually was stunned to see so much of the EPCOT architecture. I normally have had to wade through crowds and never really got to see what I finally did on that trip.

Many rides we just walked on! I found it incredible that it took us longer on some rides to walk through the roped areas (without stopping once) than it was to get on the ride! A friend of mine rode Rock-N-Roll Roller Coaster (or whatever it is called -- you wouldn't catch this chick on it! :teeth: ) and she actually walked right on! It was awesome!

Also, it is value season and at that time, WDW had a wonderful Magic Your Way package that included dining. It was a huge money saver! Everyone we met seemed to be on that plan at that time. Again, it may be because it was during the value season and they were trying to get more folks in.

I already have plans to come back this September. Hope to see you there! :flower:
