Which month would you choose? And why....

I am more concerned about the weather/temperature then anything else.

Is October still warm enough that you can going swimming?

When does hurricane season end?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Dis:thumbsup2

Hurricane Season is from June 1 to Nov 30

We went in Oct of 04 and the weather was WONDERFUL

we swam everyday but we are from the mountains of NY and are used to swimming in a cold spring fed lake and my kids do the polar bear swim on New Years day every year so maybe the fact that we swam doesn't really help:rotfl:

But honestly I saw ALOT of people in the pools:)

We went roughly Oct 20 - Oct 30 for the previous years. We swam every year. We had hurricane Wilma hit one year while we were there. The parks were closed during that time and everyone just waited at their resorts for it to pass. It was no big deal. The only concern would be for flight delays or cancellations, but that can happen anytime for a number of different reasons.

We have gone in both Sep & Oct and I would definately choose Oct. Plenty warm to swim but not super hot. Sept was rough on us. We had to leave the parks everyday during the early afternoon, even if we weren't ready, because of the heat.

Agree here, was at the BWV during Wilma, going up the hill to Soarin at 1PM with no one around you.

We went the week of Labor Day and the park was not crowded during the week. We walked right on to rides with no waiting, but the heat was stiffling!!! I don't think I will ever go in Sept. again.

I vote for September...personally I would put up with the heat to be able to walk right onto the rides (and into the air conditioning). Plus, September has been offering free dining for the past 3-4 years.

I love Sept. I will also take the heat (and sometimes love bugs) over the crowds anyday!

Go right after Labor Day!

My family is going to Disney September 19 - 28 2008. Is that a good time to go? I understand that it might be HOT, but I would like to only wait in line for a short period of time. Especially, since we will be going with two boys ages 10 & 4. We are also hoping for "free dining"

Last year we went Sept 16- 24th- towards the end of the week it seemed to get a little crowded. Now my cousin was there the week before us and she said it was DEAD! When I go back I am going to go the day right after Labor Day- I want to try that week this time.

It was hot when we went- but we just took a break in the afternoon and went back to the pool. Next time- I do not think I will even do the parks during the day- I will wake up whenever and relax at the pool most of the day. I will wait until evening to go to the parks- that is my favorite time to go anyway!

If you are doing the waterparks- be sure not to go on the weekend- locals are hot too and need to cool off! Go during the week!

You will be just fine!

I am sorry- Also remember- that the 2008 Food and Wine starts Sept 26th- so the crowds may start growing that Friday.

We used to go in Oct- for the F&W it just started getting way too crowded and that is when we tried Sept.

We went September 1 - 9 for free dining this year and did the bounceback for the exact same time to celebrate our 25th anniversary next year. It was hot--93-96 the whole time we were there, but it did not bother us one bit. We took breaks by going in an air-conditioned show, drank lots of water, went back to the hotel to go swimming or take a nap. And we prefer the warm weather (my DH and I have done nothing but gripe for the last three weeks with the snow and cold in Chicago--gee, I wish he'd hurry up and reach retirement age! :lmao: ) The only day that was extrememly crowded was the Sunday night before Labor Day during Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom and Labor Day itself. Every other day we walked on every ride or had a minimal wait--10 to 15 minutes at most--and that was not very often. As far as rain, we had 45 minutes the day we arrived and three hours our last day there and a day or two with a five minute sprinkle. We have gone in September for several of our trips and have never had rainy weather where you could not enjoy yourself.

How is this for getting into the Sept mood-

I just had to get a pic- no one would believe me if I told them!:cool1:

We went September 21-30, 2007. The crowds are not as low as everyone makes them sound. At least not now with free dining. I am not saying the crowds were bad. Except at Epcot due to the food and wine festival. We went the end of Feb/ beginning of March, 2006. The weather was awesome @ 80` and the crowds were the same.

The weather this September was not just HOT it was STIFFLING. I thought I understood that the weather would be HOT. I could not have even imagined. There hot is different than ours. I would pay much more to go another time of year.

That sign looks "awesome". :cool1: I would love to see that when we go. I understand too that it could be the complete opposite. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I figured since the free dining is offered alot of people will be taking advantage, making the crowds higher. I guess we will keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best..

I would love to be able to go when the weather would be much cooler, but this time is the only time that would work for us. I guess that if the "heat is on" we can go back to the hotel for a dip in the pool and a nap...:thumbsup2
and come back later in the evening.
