Ok, we are getting reports down here in S. Florida that
there is no gas to be had in Central and North of WPB.

Now this is a question post, we are beyond worried about
all of you in Central Florida. No electricity - No gas pumps.....

We just now had the ports open here in Ft. Lauderdale and
they are bringing in the tankers and the gas trucks are being
escorted by FHP. First to get the gas will be the Police,
Fire & Rescue and Florida Power and Light. Then hopefully
we will start getting gas at our regular gas stations.

Here is a question, first of all, if IVAN is coming everyone
will be running out again to fill up and for one thing I do not
know how many of the South Florida Pin Trader Friends will
be able to really make it up there for the event.......Especially
if you have a big car. It takes us approx. 3/4 of a tank
to make it up there. But if Orlando is anything like us down
here, we can try to use the Disney transportation because
we are staying on property but when it is time to come home
will there be gas up there yet for us to fill up to come back???

This is going to be a tough call if Ivan is headed our way
again!!!!

What do you think? How are things up in Orlando or is it
way to soon to tell, I know we are still even getting some
storms down here. So who knows but we really were looking
forward to the event and at this point even if we cancelled
the hotel would be in penalty.

But if there is no gas then we cant drive up there and we
have not heard how the Turnpike has been thru this, on
I95 there was a portion (like a sink hole) that happened off
of Forest Blvd. Has anyone heard if there is access on the
Turnpike going North from South Florida?

Thanks guys if not today (a bit soon) then as soon as you
have any type of an update and you feel like posting.

There are so many of our friends that are still even trying
to get some sort of life back after going through these
back to back storms and the last thing they are thinking about now is the pin event.

But we are looking for any news from WDW or Special Events
on the status of the event for now and if there is any info
on Ivan as this new storm is suppose to approach in the
area (not sure yet where) by this weekend.

For those that do not live in Florida, you might find this a
bit early, but after just going through this storm and our
friends that have went through both storms we are a bit
cautious.

THANK YOU all as always!!!!!!

Dana

I was just out and about in Lake County, west of Olrando, about 30 miles northwest of Disney.
Of 5 stations I drove by, two had gas available. Keep in mind we were still getting storm force winds/rain up until about 3pm in various areas. I think we will have a better idea by Tuesday or early Wednesday. I will be talking to some of my Disney CM friends in the next day who are going to be there and can find out about gas availability in and near WDW. Will keep you posted...

Normally gas prices on WDW are about $0.10 above near my house. Yesterday I was at WDW picking up some new LE pins and stopped at the Car Care Center. They had NO lines (actually only about three cars) and prices were $ 0.02 LOWER than the stations near my house; I filled up there.

Note that since Hess took over from Exxon, the prices have dropped to about $ 0.30 LOWER than the stations near Crossroads.

Dana I drove to work this morning and all the gas stations had gas, and no lines so things are looking up.

Yes, Donna confirmed there was plenty of gas at her house this week!!!.........and no, I was not there!!!!!!!!!

There were gas tankers all over the roads this morning. The gas stations in downtown orlando have gas, and my understanding is that the 2 hess stations by Disney now have gas. We got gas yesterday morning with little wait; we had to get 89 grade, but I can live with that. :)

We made the same observation after our last two trips to WDW. It is nice to fill up on Disney property & not pay a fortune.

Dana, I also checked with Dept. of Transportation. All the stations on the turnpike starting from WPB north, are open and are selling gaz. (Michael, I couldn't resist) :p ;)

Talked to some people, seems most stations are open with gas in and around Disney. Have a safe trip!
