*September Car Rental Rates* 2011

Does Alamo have a special "aisle" for Alamo Insiders similar to the Emerald Aisle? If so does it make sense to book a mid-size and take a chance on something decent being there?

Last year we were Insiders, but still picked from the normal full size aisle. So I'm guessing it's a no.

Well, now I am THRILLED!!!
My rate dropped again this morning by another $25 dollars.
My rate is now $120.60 off the lot for a midsize car for 10 days!!

I originally started at nearly $300 two months ago.
I don't think it can get much better than this.

My rental dropped from $89 and change to $83 and change. It's $6 which isn't alot but cosidering it was $145 a week ago, it's $62 difference (that's with economy to full size upgrade).

My rental just went down $52.I am picking up on 9/28 at 11am and dropping off 10/9 at 9:30am. I was getting a fullsize for $257 at Dollar under the city special. I just checked again and I got the same deal for $205. Hope this helps someone else. Keep checking

Do you guys mind putting how much you're paying per day versus the total? I'm seeing these rates, and thinking maybe mine isn't a good deal, but the days are shorter (or longer, or different car class)

getting better for us last week Sept folks and Oct.
9/27-10/6 full size $144 out the door. dropped $20 bucks since yesterday. I'll be really happy with $120 but would love to be under $100

Here's my breakdown....$65 for 8 days, midsize car. Sept. 19-27 using the Alamo insider codes. That makes it $8.13 per day!

Thank goodness for this thread!! In one week, I've saved over $235 on my rental, AND gone up a car class! I'm so excited! It seems like rates are dropping daily, and I've cancelled/rebooked 5 times now. I wonder how many times I can cancel/rebook before they stop letting me book in the first place?!
Currently booked: Midsize at Alamo for 9 days= $97 including taxes (was $335 at Budget for a Compact.) Wonder what I'll be booked at tomorrow?!

I've never rented a car before... can someone please tell me if they put a security hold on your credit card and also... do they upgrad eyou? Like if I book an economy will they upgrade me to a next size up, like the toyota corolla?

I am still showing $20 a day... wish I could get $10 a day, but we are renting from home and driving to Florida

Ok I just booked Alamo, for Sept 9th at 6:00PM - Sept 18th 6:00PM.

Standard Vehicle, does not suggest extra driver.

I used codes:

So $179.38 for 9 days = $19.31/day

So please tell me what everyone else is doing differently. I need a Midsize or larger, with a family of 5.

your not using the insider code, you have to sign up for it and get your insider number to use on your reservation. Once you sign up on Alamo's site, you will get an email with your number, it allows for free extra driver too. and gives an additional 10% off.
