Does anyone purchase trip insurance since we are going during hurricane season? Will Disney work with you if a hurricane prevents you from making your trip, and you don't have insurance? We will be coming from New Orleans, so hurricanes make me a little nervous. :confused3

We'll be taking a short trip September 1-5. Not sure where we are staying at... might be AKL. :)

Hi Christy93 in NC, I'm from NC as well. We will be at BWV from 9/24-10/01 also.

We had planned 1 week at a off-site pool home (rental).
Last week DH announced that he got the OK from work to take an additional 3 days!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!

So we've been looking around for where to stay. We got our choices down to either the Doubletree Suites in DTD resort area or POP.

Those of us who have a preference are leaning toward POP, so most likely we will be there from 9/14-9/17 then checking into our pool home.

It will be nice to get a bit of the "magic" of staying onsite and then going to our very large and very private pool home.

Let's hope all of us Sept. travelers steer clear of the hurriacanes!!!!!

I need to get a countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll be at Saratoga Springs Resort from September 10th through the 17th. I can't wait!!!

We are going to be at Disney World over the Labor Day Weekend and are really excited about going except I don't want the summer to fly by too quickly. We also hope we won't be going at the time that a hurricane decides to make its way to Florida!

We have a trip planned for Mid-June but my DH broke his arm, so we may have to post-pone the trip. How is the weather in September & October? I know it is hurricane season, but is it warm enough to swim?

It's still warm enough to swim, we did when we went last year. Also, saw Hurricane Frances.

I opted out of the insurance but I may add it because I read this in the news today(I posted this on another thread also).....

Government forecasters said Monday the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season will be worse than average along the East and Gulf coasts -- with up to five major hurricanes forecast. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting up to 15 tropical storms, with as many as nine developing into hurricanes.

Other forecasters also say it will likely be another busy season, even as many people are still reeling from last year's series of big storms.

Four named storms pounded Florida and brought flooding as far north as the Appalachian Mountains.

And now, the next hurricane season is only two weeks away.

"It's looking above average," said William Gray, a forecaster at Colorado State University. "The sea surface temperatures are very warm, the pressures are generally lower than average, and there's a number of other global features that are favorable."

But what forecasters can't predict is where those storms will hit.

Am I the only one nervous about this?? LOL!Lisa

I am pretty nervous about it, too. Since we are coming from New Orleans, I am worried about not being able to get out if one is coming our way or not being able to get to disney. I'm guessing they work with people if you have to cancel because of a hurricane, but our plane tickets are non-refundable. I'm not sure if trip insurance covers airfare. I guess I'll have to research that.

Well, if those forecasters are anything like the local weather forecasters, we should be OK! :teeth:

On Thurs. night they said our weekend here would be cold, thick cloud cover and thunderstorms. Both days were hot and sunny!!!

Why panic?? What happened last year with 3 direct hits was a fluke. Even if the Atlantic hurricane season is a biggie, those hurricanes can land anywhere from Key West to Boston. According to the articles today, we have been in an 'active' pattern for the last ten years, Florida really only got slammed last year.

Why panic about things that are beyond your control? Just relax, it's gonna be a fun time, lots of new things to do and see!! :wizard: :teeth: :goodvibes
