September 5th 2016, 4 Night Dream Cruise

Is there any theme to the FE gifts? I know the candy or snack is something based where we are from.

Also, does anyone know if you're able to multiple character calls? I have a 2 year old who thinks he's going on an airplane to get to the boat to see the mouse every day! Lol...

From what I understand you are allowed a maximum of 2 character calls. We did one in January and are planning one about a month out!!

We are a friendly group, and the Breakfast meet will be open for others as long as this thread is active!

Bobbi
I hope the thread remains active until the day we leave, then re-activated after we get back so we can share all the great moments with each other

Who's leaving their house the day of the cruise? Who is leaving before that day and where are you going? We are leaving our house at 8:30 AM the day of the cruise

Chillin poolside :beach: refreshing myself in DCL 101!! I've already read this book cover to cover. Great information, worth every penny.
So what are some of the interesting tidbits in the book?

Randy, you started this thread and you've done a great job carrying it along. we have a great group of excited cruisers on this thread. I Can't help that. But you should take a great deal of credit. Looking forward to the meet on Tuesday morning.

Thanks, but I certainly didn't do it alone. The level of excitement in our group is awesome!

Who's leaving their house the day of the cruise? Who is leaving before that day and where are you going? We are leaving our house at 8:30 AM the day of the cruise
We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott on Cocoa Beach the night before. Even though we Live on the opposite coast not too far from Tampa, we want to get there a day early, So we can board first thing. We've been to WDW enough to know that getting two adults two kids and two dogs out of the house early just doesn't happen! ‍‍‍

We are coming from Chicago so we fly in Sunday night and are staying at the All Stars Sports Resort (I think). My travel agent just booked it yesterday, I have no clue of where in FL it even is! Lol

So what are some of the interesting tidbits in the book?
Well, since you asked,... Here are some things that I highlighted, and some "unofficial Tips". I cant attest to any of these things as I am a first time cruiser, but during my many, many months of research, this is what Ive found...
Sorry its long, but you asked :smickey:.:teeth:.

*There are unoccupied outlet(s) behind the TV. Seems like there is a shortage of outlets in the rooms. We ordered a USB port charger, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0115MW8TC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1,
to bring with us, as power strips and extension cords are prohibited on board.
*Download any videos, music, etc onto your devices at home before you leave and enough to last you the trip and your return. There is a serious lack of WiFi, or lack of afordable WiFi to get while onboard so kiss your downloads goodbye. DCL offers a Free 50mb on the 1st day and 1st day only for FREE. Also the WiFi is poor so forget about streaming.
* Download DCL Navigator app. You can use it onboard to text other guests from your phone during your cruise and also to check the day's schedule. Apparently the mobile version of the "Personal Navigator" gets updated before the print version does if there are any changes.
* The chance of real danger due to a Hurricane is virtually zero. DCL will know of severe weather a few days out due to advanced weather tracking. So they will have plenty of time to change course if necessary.:sail:
* Your Key to the World card goes into the light switch by the door to power the lights, I heard that a gift card with a magnetic strip will work as well.
* US law requires Disney to disclose most claims of crimes alleged to have taken place on board. DCL voluntarily discloses all such incidents on its website.
* Kids (except for infants) may also dine in their club areas free of charge.
* On cruises 4 nights or longer, you'll repeat at least one of the three standard restaraunts. The menus will change each night athough the décor stays the same.
* Room service is available 24 hrs/ day except for the last morning of your cruise. Other than a few packaged snack items and bottled beverages, there is no charge for room service other than a small tip for the porter. ($1-2 per person or item is appropriate). So order a round of Mickey ice-cream Bars.:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybarAll you have to do is ask. Also, I remember reading that a Mickey Bar, between two cookies, minus the stick Is the Ultimate Ice-cream sandwich!
* Enchanted Garden- The best seats are the round, raised, high backed booths along the center walk, which allows you to see all the action in one half of the restaurant.
* Palo- Naturally tables next to the floor-to-ceiling windows offer the best views, but tables near the back wall sit on an elevated platform, allowing diners to see over the tables nearest the windows.
* Activities at the kids clubs are marked with a color-coded Mickey-head symbol. Yellow"In the spotlight" activities focus on stage performance. Black "Solve it" activities focus on problem solving and puzzles. Green "Jump it" activities include group games and movement.
* Kids must be registered to use the clubs. Parents can sign up b4 boarding through online check-in or on embarkation day in the clubs' open houses. One less thing to worry about if its done online.
* You may bring USCG approved water wings or floatation devices into the pools, but not rafts, floats,or noodles Snorkels and masks covering the nose/ mouth are also prohibited.
* Princess meet- arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of time, people start lining up 45 + minutes ahead to get a spot.
* The shampoo/ conditioner, and lotion is great stuff! I heard if you put it away in your bag or ask your steward, they will replace them each time they visit your room (2X a day).
*Self-appointed tour guides at Fort Fincastle in Nassau may try to hustle you for tips. Give only of you feel like it.
*DCL does a shopping seminar before you arrive at Nassau. Good advice is given, but some are sure theyre compensated somewhat by which stores they suggest.
* DCL hosts a 5K run around CC island starting at 9am. There's no cost to run. Water is provided at several stations, and they hand out Mickey-shaped plastic medals to the finishers. Check the navigator the night before to see where to meet.
That's all for now,.. again sorry its so long

We are coming from Chicago so we fly in Sunday night and are staying at the All Stars Sports Resort (I think). My travel agent just booked it yesterday, I have no clue of where in FL it even is! Lol
Its one of Disney's Resorts, in Orlando, about an hour from the Port. Figure out your transportation. I'm pretty sure you could board the DCL bus to the Port for a round-trip charge of $70pp or one-way for $35. Your TA should be able to set something up.

Excellent tips. You now know as much as seasoned cruisers.

Bobbi - I'll bet you have an awesome packing list. Care to share it?

Yea she already set that up through Disney as well, thanks!

Tom and I will be at the Boardwalk Villas for 2 nights before the cruise, although we do not arrive in MCO until late Saturday. We have FPs for the Frozen Ever After ride on Sunday. Mostly we want to swim, go on the ride and see Illuminattions!

I like all of the tips you mention, except I do not appreciate the booths in Enchanted Garden. As far as Mickey Bars go, they are a must dessert for me to order in the MDRs!

I think its at the WDW resort... and I pray that your leaving out of midway airport, I'm leaving outta O'hare (I hate it).
