September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

So I got a question ... What does everyone look like? I've seen a few photos from some of you but how about the rest. LOL

I'll start.

Here is a photo of me ...

@dtsomewhere - What an awesome pic! I've never been able to get one with more than two together! Nice!

We posted a pic in our original post, but I don't think we even told you who was who! So here I am in AP on semi-formal night.

Hey Neighbors!

Welcome to the cruise! You're going to luv it. What other cruise lines have you been on? I've only been on Disney but I feel like I've been spoiled.

I used to work at Disney too! What dept were you in?

Hollywood....I used to work at Disneyland in Adventureland.

We have been on 78 cruises and you wouldn't want me to name them all here.
But have been on the big companies like Royal Caribbean and Cunard and Princess. But we do have some favs like a river cruise of Danube and a Fr. Polynesia cruise on the Paul Gauguin. Coming up in 2013 is a cruise around So. America on Regent Seven Seas Mariner.:cheer2:

By the bye, I wonder if we will get to see the new Finding Nemo in 3D that is coming out next week while on the ship? I love Nemo and Wall-E. I got to see Puss 'n' Boots in 3D when it first came out on the Allure of the Seas and that was fun!:3dglasses

LOVE YOUR PHOTO StSomewhere...want to get one like that for our Christmas Cards while on this cruise!! What is an EBTA?

Wenuwish....darling photo of you...very attractive

Yes. According to the lineup released they will have Finding Nemo 3-D in both theaters as well as the entire Pixar lineup available on the big screen or in room on the small screen. Should be fun.

As far as pictures go....
Lots of pictures of DW but apparently I must hog the camera because there aren't lots of us together. I'll have to look around.

Thanks! It is one of my favorite pics. It was very special to get a pic with the Fab FIve. IT was something special DCL did for that cruise. Disney usually only has one or two characters together. Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy.

Disney offered all five characters as something special on the eastbound transatlantic cruise (EBTA). It was a 14 night cruise from Port Canaveral to Barcelona.
We had 8 sea days, castaway cay, Madeira (Portugal), Gibraltar, Cadiz and overnight in Barcelona.

Is this for certain the schedule? We have Palo scheduled on Oct 4 for dinner but that is the Captains Gala menu (my favorite)! I will cancel Palo if it is. We had a Palo brunch scheduled as a back up to the dinner. The only other nights there are open spots for Palo are October 2 (which is my DS birthday) and Pirate night. Darn!!!

I confimed this schedule with Disney a few days ago.. they say it correct, but tentative :confused3

If it was me, I'd hold onto my Palo reservation until I was onboard and see if you can swap it. We've had good luck getting a table even when we were "wait listed" when we went to sign up right after boarding. DH dropping by Palo a few time to check didn't hurt either... I have an awesome DH

I was reading somewhere on the DIS that there is a heavy percentage of Palo reservation held back for onboard reservations. I think they like call your cabin and give you the good new that the pixie dust worked :tinker:

Which hotel? We are staying at the Crowne this time.

I booked the Double Tree using points, I'm hoping it's a decent place. Since it's just the two of us and the kids are staying behind we are flying into LAX around 6 so I'm not tempted to spend a day at Disneyland before the cruise. :)

Thanks. Yeah, I have an email out to Payless. I want to see if we can afford private transportation w/ 'meet and greet' to reduce my stress and hassle. Also, we need booster seats and it seems most companies don't offer them. I know if we went w/ a shuttle, it wouldn't be subject to car seat laws but I'd prefer the convenience of a private van, which are subject to car seat laws (at least all this is according to my understanding from what I've read on the internet...) Anyway, I'll let you know what I find out from them...

Getting kind of discouraged- why is it so hard to find an *at least seemingly reliable* private shuttle from LAX to the port? I never heard back from Payless... Yeah, I can (and might) email them again but when a transaction is set up online, it just doesn't make me feel good about a company when I don't get replies on the first try. Kinda busy this weekend but I'll renew my search next week...

I contacted the concierge at the hotel we are staying at(Lowes Santa Monica).
I asked them the best way to get to the cruise port.

They recommended a taxi. It would run around $100.
or if we preferred they could arrange a private car to pick up up.It was $85 an hour with a minimum of two hours.

They would not recommend a shuttle.

Thanks... we are coming straight from LAX and I'm considering a taxi but I think they're hourly (instead of flat rate) and that makes me nervous... A private van/car is what I'm looking for but am having bad luck w/ getting responses from the places I've contacted. Plus, it seems most don't offer booster seats and I don't want to have to bring ours. I'm admittedly overly-nervous about shuttles... I would feel so much more comfortable if a specific person agreed to meet me at a specific place/time and assisted/transported my family to our destination. Just wish I was getting better email responses so I'd feel for confident in these places... I click and click all over the internet, checking websites, reading reviews, etc. but when it comes down to it, I still want a real person to respond to my inquiries promptly and make me feel like they are going to be reliable... sigh.

Wow that's disappointing...

Wondering if they're in the dark ages and work best by phone, I just called. The phone rang and rang, then said no voicemail set up!! :scared:
Then I noticed there's another Payless Shuttle out of Long Beach... rang and rangthen "no voicemail set up" :scared1:
I re-checked the "good" reviews... it was for the first one best I can tell.

Super Shuttle is still another option for us. Shared Ride $45, ExecuRide $47. I also checked Long Beach Yellow Cab. At 16 miles I estimate $46.

On top of the shuttle, I'm still renting a Hertz car for Saturday... so adding that in maybe just renting the car from Enterprise and paying the drop fee is worth it... $150 :scratchin

Dang... then I have to do the same thing in reverse on our return :sad2: Why is this so complicated??

I see on other threads that some of the Pixar cruises are having changes to the itinerary...

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
Sept 23th cruise - Pirate Deck Party is while we're in SF, no fireworks?
Oct 7th cruise - Pirate Deck Party - Day 3, Tuesday, Oct 9 San Francisco CA

I just check our reservation / cruise itinerary, it now shows "Pirate Deck Party" as an activity on Friday (San Diego). Whew!!

Interesting that DCL would do it differently on cruises that are B2B ?
