September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Congrats to all of you that have gotten upgrades! On our Med cruise we did GTY and were very fortunate to get upgraded to a verandah room. Its always very exciting to get an upgrade. BWe did IGT for the first time for this cruise and I'm getting very antsy. I'm fine with the inside stateroom but I'm hoping for adjoining rooms and maybe the split bath. Hoping some pixie dust pixiedust: will do the trick.

WOW!!!

We got upgraded from a room with a porch to the Disney Suite!!! ;)

just kidding of course...but one can dream.

Counting down the days.

I have a little trick for you. For the girls, rather than buying fancy dresses for the cruise, pick up princess costumes. I hid them in my luggage and gave them to DD Sabrina one at a time when it was time to dress for dinner. Sometimes if we spotted a princess signing autographs we'd run to the cabin and do a quick change to match (cute photos). I'm not sure how many princesses we'll have on a Pixar Cruise... I bet there will be some.

One thing I always loved about fall cruises is there are lots of costume options available everywhere. There's a Wal-Mart (giant discount store) very close to Disneyland (3.7 mi). There are also 2 K-Marts, both are just 2 miles from the park. If you'd rather shop near the ship, there are also a Kmart and a Wal-Mart not far from the cruise terminal (7 mi N, 7 mi NE).

It's amazing how a little girl dressed up as a princess acts like a little princess at the dinner table. princess:

And I conversely have the photos to prove what happens when you dress a DD as a Pirate for dinner pirate:

Speaking of shopping..... When we go down to Disneyland, we always make a stop at the Disney's Character Warehouse Outlet at the Orangefair Mall. It's less than 4 milies from DL. If you have a car, it's a great place to pick up some souvenirs of the park or to look for costumes. I have not noticed any DCL merchandise here but in the Orlando outlets, I've picked up DCL stuff. A great shop to check out. I've picked up pirate mouse hats, a Jack Sparrow wig, pins, t-shirts among other things. Just a side note: Not all the merchandise here is from DL. It may be from other places too.

WOOT! We were upgraded as well. As this was a bit of an unplanned cruise - I signed up as soon as I heard about the pixar thing in case it never happens again. As such we were booked in an inside room to save money - we've never had one before as we always book at least 9B for the large porthole.

Well...guess we'll have to wait for another cruise to find out what an inside stateroom is like! We were upgraded to a 9B! yay!

I don't remember if you said... are you driving down or getting a car before the cruise? :car:

If you're staying at the San Pedro Inn & Suites there's a Rite-Aid on Gaffy en route to the ship.

As I mentioned in my costume post above, there are two major discount stores not far from the cruise terminal... Kmart (7 mi N, Harbor City) and Wal-Mart (7 mi NE, Long Beach).

We'll be stopping at one of these to get our rum and mybe some Kahlua. :rolleyes1

Yes, we're staying at the San Pedro. We'll be taking the shuttle to the ship. Thanks for the shopping tips.

... If you guys are packing the rum and Kahlua, expect me as a tag along ;)

The Disney Character Warehouse has moved a couple of doors from the original location and also changed name. This is the e-mail I got from them "We are now Character Depot. Our new store name matches our better selections. More characters from all your favorite brands including Disney, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Sesame Street, Nickelodeon, Looney Tunes, Veggie Tales, Wizard of Oz, and more". I went to the new store and found out that the prices are not like they used to be. You can find better prices across the street from them (at Wal Mart).

Oooh thanks for that! We've heard about this place but never been before, I may have to make the trip this time! I work for a company that does that animation for a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, it would be awesome to get some merch for my desk, you don't come across a lot here! We'll make sure to pop in to Wal Mart too!

Still no room assignment. I've checked so many times I have the reservation number memorized. Well it's got to come in the next 50 days! Just keep waiting, just keep waiting...

We went to check out the new store location last weekend and I was disappointed. Yes, the new store is nicer but the prices are higher. Guess they have to pay for the new rent somehow :rotfl2:

Welcome to the fun! The first post on this thread has all the info regarding the FE. You need to sign up now as the deadline is the 19th I think. If you need ideas for FE do a search on the board for Fish Extenders. There are many threads dedicated to it. Also if you FB there is a Fish Extender thread on Face Book and many people post what they have made/received.
