Belle6000

No dont home school taking my grandson for his birthday and thought I would bring his cousins with us to make it extra special.

Marybeth

Marybeth, As I posted before (post # 1292,) it is too late to get on a list. However, several people have said that if you will post your room number, they will share extras that they have with your kids.

If you want the graphics for the cruise shirt, just post your email address. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, you can send me a PM when you get 10 posts and give it to me. I will then email the graphics to you.

What an awesome birthday you are giving him!! Can you be my grandma too? (although we are probably too close in age to pull that one off...hahaha).

Regarding Fish Extenders...even though the list is closed, if you will post your cabin number, & hang a fish extender, I know I have some extra pixi dust to spread...

FE Gifts are completed!!:dance3: Glad to have that checked off my list :)

Dining room table is filling up with fun stuff...:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Looks like it's almost time to cruise! :cool1:

We're in!! Dh just booked this week and as a first time cruiser I am so overwhelmed. There will be 4 us...... myself (Amanda), Dh (Gary), and our two sons Gavin (4) and Grant (2). We were going to drive to Destin for a family vacation but felt compelled to check out the cruises since it would be a shorter drive and was completely shocked to see there were cabins available. We're in the DFW area.

What part of DFW? We're from Arlington.

Welcome to our group... I am from North Fort Worth... Howdy neighbor....

We're in Flower Mound. Are you ladies driving in on Friday or Saturday? I'm guessing it's a 4-5 hour drive, right?

We are going on Thur. Usually take us about 4.5 hours. I am originally from LaPorte, just a little ways from Galveston. I grew up going to Galveston on a weekly basis..... Can't wait to get there again!

Welcome! :wave2:

I'd say five hours from Flower Mound to Galveston with only one stop at Buckee's and a bit of a heavy foot :p I've got a heavy foot and I've never made it from north Dallas to south Houston in much under five hours. I did check and right now I don't see any construction scheduled for Sept 29 on I45 in Houston. If you can, I'd come in the night before, but if you leave home at 6:00 a.m. Saturday you can be confident that you will be on the ship probably by 12:30 after parking, and definitely before we sail :teeth:.

If you arrive too early you can always check out the seawall or take some breakfast tacos to Seawolf park and look at the Magic from the other saide of the port. What is your boarding time?

We're driving in the morning of, probably leaving about 530am. We live near Denton. We drove the same ay on a previous cruise and that was on a weekday. We were on the ship by 1200 that day. We parked directly across from the terminal, within walking distance! It was great upon debarkation, just walked across the street and jumped in our car.

So who has the heavy foot, Jill or Danny? ;) :p :rotfl2: I was thinking it is a straight shot from Dallas, so maybe five hours or just under, but then I was reminded of how long it takes us to get down I45 without construction. Now that I've provided the conservative estimate everyone heading south will tell me that they made it in four hours or less  :p I use to think I could make it in under four, but it depends on where you are going in Houston. Having been delayed more than once on a freeway in Houston on a Saturday because of an event or contstruction, I've learned there are many possibilities for unexpected delays on I45 (possible everywhere I guess, but I know it happens here). And I was thinking of the two little ones traveling with them.

My DS, DIL, and DGS live just within the city limits of La Porte. DS is a Pasadena Police Officer and he knows his momma has a heavy foot. :lmao: They will be with us on the cruise.

can we join in on the fish extender. I dont have our rooms yet we have 3 boys Tristan 5 ( his birthday trip) Noah 4 and Ben 8

Welcome! :wave2: What a great birthday present. You know you are setting the bar pretty high for the older and younger boys. ;)

Several people offering to include you if you get an FE and post your cabin number. Post back when you know.

Hi!!! We live in lewisville and my future hubby works for the town of flower mound :). So welcome, neighbor!

We are leaving at 3 Friday and staying at the Hilton, i just figured its less stressful for our first cruise.

I started packing the clothes that I won't be wearing between now and then, I'm bringing way too much!

So, what's buckee's? I'm curious :)

What's Buc-ee's? (I spelled incorrectly in my post.) Why you have been deprived on road trips! Never fear, there is still time to visit and get a T-shirt. I do my best to hold it unless I can get to Buc-ee's or a Cracker Barrel. :hyper: Even cleaner than Cracker Barrels, Buc-ee's is the place with the clean bathrooms, gasoline, and they are open 24 hours. :cool1:

There is a nice large Buc-ee's off I45 north of Hunstville in Madisonville. It would be a good place to stop before driving on through to Galveston.

We will be driving from Corpus and it should take us about 4 hours. We'll be driving up on Friday so we don't have to rush.

Buc-ee's is a great place to stop for gas and the bathroom. They have the nicest, cleanest restrooms I have ever seen. There is one in Madisonville (I-45 & Hwy 21) if you are headed south from Dallas/Ft Worth.

We have one in Wharton, which is on our way to Houston. Their website is www.bucees.com

Oh my!! I just looked at the menus for the cruise. AMAZING!! But how in world am I going to be able to eat everything? I'm going to gain back the 15 pounds I lost...maybe more! I guess I'm going to have to find time to exercise.

My mouth is watering already!

Danny always drives.... :thumbsup2 I grew up in Pasadena. I lived in Pasadena, Deer Park, LaPorte area for 50 years... kinda hard to do when you are only 26 :confused3 :rotfl2: I have been in North Fort Worth for a few years now. We don't usually run into all the traffic problems because I know my way around all the back roads in Houston. I usually avoid I45 So. It can be a nightmare. Sat. mornings are bad this time of year along 45 So. Everyone going to the beach and all. Of course the causeway is about the only way in unless you go to high island and take the ferry... We will be coming in from LaPorte so we will take 146 and jump on 45 just before the causeway.

OMGosh... they have the most wonderful food on the ship... I try to take the stairs and not the elevator when I can.. the walk around deck 4 is nice too and of course there is always the gym.... I will try to be good and not eat too much... :rotfl2:
