September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

...I usually like to order something different than DH so I can try some of his too. He hates it that I order based on what he is getting and often he won't tell me what he is going to order. So I have this trick. When the server comes to the table, all of a sudden I am not quite sure what to order. So I force DH to order first. Then I can choose something else. Occasionally I want something bad enough I'll still order the same. So I have to have at least 2 choices from each menu, just in case he orders my first choice. Boy, I guess that sounds pretty crazy! :rotfl:
I think that's standard DW practice, Eva! I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the sacred feminine handbook. :lmao: I like DH to have something different so I can taste too. I can be mean tho' - if I order something and then I'm not too sure about, I make him swap with me. ;) I used to have another rule about not ordering the same thing twice at a restaurant but I've broken that so many times now, I can't really enforce it on DH anymore... :rolleyes1

We can't decide whether to go for a wine package or not. Has anyone done it? Is it good value??

We haven't ordered the wine package before. We've been tempted, but Steve just doesn't drink much wine. He is a beer and pina colada man. He'll sometimes surprise me and drink wine with a meal. I really enjoy wine, but normally only have a glass or two with dinner. My pre-dinner drink is vodka (either a martini or with tonic). Then I have a glass of wine with the meal. After dinner I like something sweeter, like a White Russian. Well, back to the package. I think it seems to be a good deal if you like a number of the wines on the list.

Richard is a big red wine fan and I don't think he's drunk beer for years - it never really agreed with him. Mind you, British beer and US beer are very different things. And he's always happy to glug a Pina Colada or three when relaxing in the sun! If I could afford it, I'd only drink top notch champagne - pre-dinner, post-dinner, during dinner, instead of dinner... :rotfl:

I've been having another look at the menus and I see on some of them they have wine pairings - I always think it's so much fun to try the different wines as you go so maybe we'll opt for that. Aren't these fab decisions to have to make? :goodvibes

Just heard DH's car door so I'm off to cook dinner and delight him with my witty conversation and sparkling repartee... :rolleyes1

Bareacuda, What is Celebration Cake?

It's a white cake that's real yummy! Gotta try a piece on the last night of the cruise.

Speaking of Dr.s....:headache: just a few weeks ago... mine called me "portly" !:scared1: I wanted to drop kick him!The he decited to put me on cholesterol meds... jeesh ya think... battling 240 for a couple of years is soon enough??? He knows my family history, my dad passed away a couple of years ago from a massive stroke and my mom has had 2 heart attacts, both of them were his patients.
Ok my rant is over!
Ohhhh... good news... got our racing shirts today. Have to admit the do look good!:cool2:

And one more day closer to the CRUISE !!!

Good morning all. Hope that everyone has a great day. Another day closer to the cruise. Mike

Morning everyone! Feeling very energetic today - have walked 4.5 miles so far! :cool1:

It's a white cake that's real yummy! Gotta try a piece on the last night of the cruise...
I read the description of the Celebration Cake - mmmm!!! "Layers of Chocolate covered in Strawberries embedded with Rich Vanilla Cream and glazed with White Chocolate"!!! Mind-boggling!!! :cloud9:

This is what gets me so mad - it's like they can't/won't think outside the box! :confused3 When I did my Psych Nurse training, I spent many months learning about empathic response - i.e: putting yourself in your patient's shoes and imagining what they are feeling. I don't think many Drs have a clue about this. The last time I saw the dermatologist he told me to lose weight as that'd help my skin. Well, guess what? I did and it didn't!

Hope that everyone has a great weekend. Mike

:rotfl2: I told Dh its 4 months and 2 days till vacation. His responce was PERFECT.... "It's time to pack!":rotfl2:

What can I say except.... 1 day closer to vacation!:cool1:

Good morning from London! :wave2: After a week of bright blue skies and blazing hot sun, it's grey, chilly and looks like rain - I imagine that's because we have a family BBQ planned for tomorrow afternoon...

My DS13 comes home from school this afternoon - haven't seen him in ages so looking forward to that.

139 days to the cruise!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Grey and chilly, I thought that was London weather.:confused3

Karen it looks like the Queen is enjoying her trip here to the states. She is scheduled to go to the Kentucky Derby today. I think that one of her passions are horses, and we know that she definitely loves big hats:rotfl2: Mike

His reaction was as if I'd suggested eating the flesh of fluffy little kittens - he looked horror-struck and virtually told me I was an irresponsible parent to ask for such a treatment! You'd think I'd made up the flippin' drugs and was going to act like some crazy half-wit junkie if I got access to them!!!! I understand the risks and I'm not an idiot for goodness sake!

Glad to hear of the possibility of some relief for you, Karen. One question...why would the doctor infer that you are an irresponsible parent for wanting this treatment? My doctor has told me he thinks I might have rheumatoid arthritis, and I will find out the results of 1001 lab tests and xrays on Friday. From what I understand, immune-suppressant drugs are part of the treatment of RA because it is an auto-immune disease. With a 9 yo DD and a 4 month old DD, I'm very interested in why a doctor would consider such treatment to be "irresponsible".

I'll bite....favorite foods (no pun intended;)): Cheese and crackers platter via room service (we enjoyed this every day around 5 or 6 pm, sitting on our verandah), everything on the Palo brunch, chocolate chip cookies from room service (yep, had 'em almost every night). And of course, drink of the day while sitting in the sun :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: on deck 9 or 10.

This time I am going to make a midnight dessert buffet...somehow I've missed it last two cruises.

In doing six Disney cruises, I have never made it to the dessert buffet.:scared1: Mike

Dessert buffet?? Now how did I miss that in Jan?

Room service cheese/crackers, fruit bowl, and of course choc chip cookies are a must. I did find out quickly to request the platter/bowl/cookies for a specific number of people or we just rec'd a small platter/bowl.

By asking for platter/bowl/cookies for like 4 people (there were only two of us) then rec'd enough to eat then but have some for later as well.

And don't forget to order a Mickey bar from room service too!!!!!!

This afternoon i watched the Magic leave port via webcam. I sat here wishing I was on there, and dreaming of when we go in Sept.

Pal and Minn are planning their wardrobe for Sept and looks like they will have the largest suitcase. I will get the smallest one and maybe the carry-on. But if they keep throwing items into bag for cruise I may not even get a suitcase LOL.

Rec'd my power chair (I believe i already shared that) but have working on finding ways to carry the "kids" since there is no basket on the chair. Bought a bicycle basket that I can put on back of headrest so the "kids" may have to ride in the backseat for now on <G>

How many ppl are planning on decorating their stateroom door?

I have made several door signs already and to think have four more months to make more. I have a feeling my door will so covered you won't see the door. Or someone suggested putting some on the inside, then I can switch out each day what goes on outside and inside.

How many are dressing up for Pirate night? How far do you go if are dressing up? I mean last cruise ppl have either bought or rented a full costume just like in the movie, Capt Jack, etc.....

I just threw a pirate tshirt, red pants that i cut strips in legs, bandana, sash around waist and my crocs. Oh I did have a sword that got from McDonalds Kids Meal LOL.

There were several men dressed as Capt Jack that if saw walking around had to make sure it was a guest and not the character from DCL <G>

ok guess better hit the sack for the nite.

catch ya later.

pirate: Priate Night??? Heck Yeah.pirate: We ordered ours before the Panama Repo and didnt get them until the day we returned home!!:headache:

Great news on the new chair Marsha.

Door decorations... it's another YUP ! Dh has been working on several for days. I read somewhere in the Dis that if you personalize them they are less likely to be borrowed(taken). And bring them in for the night too.
I heard the Capt. Hook steals them:rotfl:

Dessert buffet???:scared1: And I had to start WW:headache:

Ann

Yeah besides personalizing like with family name, individual name, stateroom number etc.... if use the magnet flex frame write with a sharpie on back your name.

So if by chance you all sudden see a magnet door sign where hadnt been one, take a peak at back to see if your name is there. if so well. some pirate must have thought it was meant for "sharing"

In Jan we didn't take them off thru the entire cruise. And had no problem at all with anything or any decoration going missing.

A friend had her DCL or DVC magnet go missing. So now she scanned the magnet and used a pics of the DCL and/or DVC magnet on the door. If that goes missing no big deal, the real thing is safe at home.

sad but true door signs and decorations do go missing sometimes. my guess its ppl thinking funny to take it, like a prank and not even thinking its stealing. just my opinion. It may be Disney but doesn't mean all on board have that Disney respect for guests.

I have the 3 night on the Wonder in June. I just had to book as needed a DCL fix, couldn't wait until Sept.

Also already booked double dip for Sept 2008, anyone else considering that one?

While on board in June plan on booking for Mar 08 as well. Decided I would do 7 nights in Sept and 3 night in Mar, giving me a cruise every six months. Hopefully that will give me another fix of my DCL addiction <G>

And hey I have to go in Sept to celebrate getting older LOL.

now to get thru this horrible heat here in Florida for the next 4 months grrrr.

Hey there everyone, I am joining you on the 9/22 Magic. I will be traveling with my DD 14, and was hoping she could make some cruise friends before we ever set sail. Also going are DS 11, Girlfriend, and her two kids DS 12, and DD 6. Hope to meet some of you very soon.

Glad to hear of the possibility of some relief for you, Karen...
Thank you! :thumbsup2 Now I'm over the GP's reaction - I'm very excited! :woohoo:

Sorry to hear about your possible diagnosis. Good luck for Friday. As fas as my GP is concerned, I think his objection was that even tho' my psoriasis is bad, it isn't life threatening and immuno-suppressants have serious side-effects so, in effect, I would be choosing to compromise my health in the interests of vanity - is this appropriate behaviour for a wife and mother?! I'm paraphrasing here - he was more subtle but the implication was there...

Welcome aboard Tim and family. Hope that you have a great vacation and cruise. Mike
