September 2012

It's been a week of swings and roundabouts here.

My April 2013 cruise to MR got canned as Carnival are redepolying the ship elsewhere due to safety concerns. :sad1:

However I managed to upgrade our DCL cruise this September from a cat 10 to a Cat 6 or better for another $210 US. Very happy to go from a SPR to a GT Verandah.:banana: Paid our tips onboard too, may as well get it all out of the way while the going is good.

BigDisneyOE - I think we are on the same Disney cruise departing 23 Sept on the Wonder.

How are you getting to the cruise terminal on the 23rd? If anyone else has any recommendations that would be great as well.:)

We are staying at Park Vue Inn for the 8 nights prior to our cruise departure.

We will probably get a private shuttle, I haven't worked out what service we will use though - there will be four of us and it's cheaper to use a shuttle than a taxi by the looks. How were you thinking of getting to the port? (we are staying at a private condo).

WAMUMOF4 - :scared1: That's not good news at all. Is your husband is a niche role at all? I hope he gets something suitable very soon. A friend of mines husband lost his job and finishes tomorow - he was bought across from the UK for the role and it's completely niche, so no other jobs like it in NZ. I'm praying they both got NZ citizenship while they have been here otherwise they have 'no leave to remain' come 1 March.

No idea :confused3 Will probably use a shuttle type service. I will more than likely sort something out when we get over there. There should be heaps of pamphlets etc to help me out.

WAMUMOF4 - sorry about your DH's job. Hopefully something comes along for him quickly.

Luckily he is not in a niche role he just made a very bad decision that cost him a very good job with a very good roster. He has the option to go back to the job he had before this but it is not a choice he is prepared to take at this stage.

Thanks it will its just the waiting :)

Doh....so sorry about your DH job WAMUM4. But if you guys have paid for most of your trip maybe a holiday will be just what you need. I hope he gets it all sorted. What a bummer, big hugs:grouphug:

Thanks i am trying not to stress to much or at least not let DH and the kids know i am ;)
Unfortunately the only thing i have paid is all our flights, first nights hotel, speedway tickets, and the deposit on our Disney cruise because i have been paying the deposit for our 2015 cruise at the same time :headache:
I know he will be back at work very soon but the waiting game is just doing my head in:headache:

Oh AustralianKaren that's so very sad.:hug::hug: Sounds like your son is going to need a lot of 'mummylove' (that's what our kids call it) in the coming months.

I've finally managed to book all our accomodation for September! Yay, go me - did it all in three days once we'd made out minds up. We took the Aussie DisBoarders advice and will be staying close to LAX the night we arrive (you all remember our very long trip from Brissy Airport to Broadbeach due to fatigue ad a bad map/DH). So it looks like this:
  • 1 night Hyatt House El Segundo in a two bedroom suite
  • 7 nights Grand Pacific Palisades, Carlsbad in a two bedroom suite. Stoked about this as we picked up a timeshare week for rent cheapily.:cool1::cool1: Awesome for the kids as it's across the road from Legoland, which they are obsessed with and has kids activities and super water area for the kids. Oh and it's spitting distance from the Outlet Mall, which is pure accident. :rolleyes1
  • 7 nights at a two bed condo across from Disneyland to finish the land part.
  • Then we'll catch a shuttle to the Wonder for the Pacific Coast cruise. So looking forward to staying onboard in San Diego after we'll have had a week to spend there - hopefully everyone gets off and we have Mickey to ourselves!
  • Then it's off the Wonder, back to LAX hotel to change and rest before flying out that night.
All we have to do now is work out what rental to get. We need something big enough for three weeks luggage but also that the kids can see out of in their carseats. Made the mistake of renting something once the kids couldn't see out of and one kid cried or got carsick & spewed all the way round the South Island. So priority is for mini-me's to see and not spew.

I like your idea of staying at Carlsbad - my kids are keen to see legoland too and best before disneyland, looks like a nice place to stay and relax. I'm a bit behind but is it best to stay over by the hotel? I am beginning planning for 2 years out so after advice for our trip of a lifetime. Cheers!

Hi

My first post...

We are heading to Disney World September 2012 - leave Perth 15th and get back 1st October. Flights/accomodation booked last week so actually feels like it might actually happen!!

Plans so far
- Perth-Auckland-LA 15/9 (air new zealand)
- LAX to Orlando 17/9 (virgin america - anyone know if they are ok?)
- Booked a studio and a one bedroom at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge 17th Sept to 28th Sept (did have a two bedroom booked but was not eligible for free dining so changed it to two bookings to get free dining!!)
- Orlando to LAX 28th and home 29th.

SOOOOOO excited.

Starting to plan ADR as I really want to take my girls to Cinderellas Royal Table. When we went to Disneyland only found out about character meals on the second to last day so did one quick one only and the kids absolutely LOVED it (well my 2.5yr old daughter at the time was scard by the characters other than chip and dale but she is over that now and we are hoping that the baby will be too young to be scared yet - she will be 15months).

Any must do things?

I am really excited (as is my oldest) about Harry potter world too!

Can't wait to hear about other peoples plans..

So many travelling in September!

Disneywithfour, your trip looks great :thumbsup2

My planned ADR's so far are non existent, i'm so overwhelmed with it all, so many to choose from and worried i'll choose the wrong ones

Our trip has gone from a little roadtrip with a side cruise to a much bigger than expected trip LOL

And I told DH we have to go to Disneyland on the way home, I need to see the new CarsLand and hopefully World of Colour (so glad he gets me LOL)

:welcome: Disneywithfour sound like you have a great trip planned.

:jumping1: DH starts his new job Thursday we have known for a week what his start date would be but until the medical etc and official offer came back i didn't want to get excited but that all came through yesterday:jumping1:

Thanks it makes the planning so much easier to know we will have an income to pay for the trip :rotfl2: although the only downs side is he will be away for 2 weeks at a time i keep telling myself it is only for 6 swings and then we go away.

:eek:Did i mention this week that the tax department is auditing my education tax refund i was the lucky 1 in 12 to be audited and it takes them a minimum of 12 weeks :scared1::scared1: to check with centrelink that i was entitled to FTBA and can receive the tax education refund :confused3
