September 2012 dates

We're planning our annual family trip for September this year. Right now we're thinking we'll go either 9/9-9/12 or 9/23-26.
Do you see any issues with these dates as far as crowds go? I don't see anything on the convention center calendar. I'm guessing Halloween decorations would be up by 9/23, what do you think?

Touringplans is showing Sunday 9/23 as a 7, which suprised me becuase thats what Saturday 12/17 was this year. Any idea why the high estimate for 9/23?

Please don't rely on TPs crowd calendar! They aren't all that reliable in predicting crowds.

There will be a lot more refurbs (HM, maybe space) on the earlier dates. Also Saturday's are busy no matter what month it is.

Man I hope so! That scared me a bit! We've been in Sept before when HM and SM were down but we made up for it last year by going in October. Though it would be nice to actually see the park again without decorations, I LOVE the overlays on HMH and SM.

if you go at the earlier time, it will be in transition so you will get some decorations, if at the later time, it will be done.

I'd prefer the later dates when more will be open and the park is in a steady state.

Agree 100%.

Also, please don't make your decision based on predicted crowds - unless you have been before and know what you are getting into. It is likely the time around Sept 9 will have many, many closures - Haunted Mansion and Space Mtn among them. Most of the closures will end by later in September.

Thanks everyone. The group is definitely leaning towards the later dates mainly due to more rides being open. We'd be ok with the earlier ones though if work schedules require us to do that. We're definitely off season people though. I could not handle crowds like ones we had on Sat 12/17. I dread having to take summer trips once DD gets further into school.
