September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

At an attempt to get you excited about planning your QS, check out this http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2787144
There are so many options and with all those kids, it would be a good idea to check menus and locations ahead of time. (Just to pass the time :rolleyes1)

WOW - thats all I will say - yummy! Gonna be impossible to stick with my diet down there... glad to see there are healthy options for sides (is that cream puff a healthy option lol)... gotta try cause my tummy doesn't like anything really heavy or greasy now... and being down 50lbs already, don't wanna gain too much of that back...

:cheer2:

Got a room booked through Hotwire for Saturday night in St. Louis so we won't have to get up at 3 am to leave for the airport! Sooo, technically, vacation starts on Saturday afternoon, yes? Most of the clothes are packed...now if I could just concentrate on work better.:goodvibes

By noon on Sunday I will be in Orlando and on :cloud9:

Can't wait to see all my September friends there, and for those of you still a few weeks out...don't worry it will be here before you know it!

To everyone who is leaving soon, y'all have a wonderful trip. I am getting so excited about my girls only trip myself. Though my achiiless tendonitis isn't getting better, it isn't going to stop me.

As to the fairy godmother mailing stuff. How does that normally work?

If anyone has any suggestions of what we should do on this trip, please advise. This is the first time I am going without kids or me not being a kid.

We leave Friday :cool1: Finishing packing today, minus the few last minute things we need to pack fri morning. I am so sick of this rain! I am praying it won't rain all day, everyday we are down there. The forcast doesn't look so good :sad2:

Oh the bright side, We will be at DISNEY! and I'm offically done cooking till the 19th! Dinner out tonight for my Birthday and pizza tomorrow before we leave (a tradition aka NO DISHES):lmao:

:bday: Yay for no cooking! This will be a big perk for me too and I don't even really cook that much. I was going to do some sort of easy home cooked meal our last night but no dishes is certainly something to factor in.

I'm so excited for us and for everyone leaving soon!

Does anyone know the regualtions for travelling with a toddler who you didn't purchase a ticket for....do you need ID (Birth Certificate) for them to get through security at the airport? I ordered BabyK's birth certificate over a month ago and it still isn't here, I called today and supposedly it will be here tomorrow (Crossing my fingers then I just won't have to worry about it). But do I really need it? Am I stressing myself out over nothing? Cod-Man has a passport for security from our cruise in 2008, so I am just worried about the baby....I think I am probably freaking out too because I am not a good flyer and this is the baby's first flight ...I hope he does ok!

I'm happy for all of you who are leaving soon. We just did our online check in so that's banana dancing worthy
Right now I'm just enjoying a nice day off and finalizing some paperwork, getting it ready for the trip. Purchased one of those Samsung Galaxy Tabs from work which is about the size of a book, so I'm loading it with my daily plans for each of our Disney days. Pretty easy to glance at and make notes on at the end of the day. I'll also have to print our itineraries for our Passporter. :surfweb: basically just a laptop Disney day

There is a thread here about it in the Disney for families section but it hasn't been very active lately.

Basically you ask someone or someone offers to send you a postcard signed by a favorite character. For example... I would like one for my DD. A little post card saying something about how excited *character* is to celebrate her birthday with her or something along those lines.

Some people get a "we miss you and wish you could come back" cards. they can be sent to anyone who needs a pick me up, a soldier, someone who is trying to surprise their kids, etc etc.

and then in return you pay it forward and do it for someone else when you take your trip :)

So I am FGM to one child right now. During my trip I will have mickey sign a post card and I will write a little note and send it off to that child so they get a little surprise in the mail :wizard:

cute huh?

I MUST stop spending money!!!! :rotfl: Just got back from a quick trip to Dollar Tree (see, I didn't spend much) and they had great stuff for our window and door. Just way too much excitement mounting here.

As for traveling with juveniles/infants - they don't need ID until 16 for travel inside the states - right? My kids are big, so that may be old info. I would prefer they require ID's for babies/toddlers to prove they are your's. Paranoia, maybe.

Last but certainly not least.... we leave in 2 days... already have this friday and saturday off. But they have not done next weeks schedule... that means my vacation has NOT been approved yet!!! 2 DAYS before I leave and it is not approved!!!! I put in for it back at the end of Feb or beginning of March!!!6 MONTHS!!! I know I will get it off, but won't feel secure until it is approved!!!
It's too bad they won't just tell you it is done and approved.

I was told we need one for DD since she's a lap baby on Airtran so I'll be bringing a copy of her birth certificate. It may vary by airline so you can check with yours for more accurate information! I hope it comes soon for your peace of mind though!

Glad you have more recent knowledge. :thumbsup2

Right now, I am watching the History Channel Modern Marvels - Disney World
They are just feeding the virus and I am getting 'home'sick.

I sent my DD's first grade teacher a note yesterday about our upcoming trip, and asking about make up work. She will miss 6 days of school, so I thought it would be nice if she could get a few things done before we leave.

The pixie dust has already started....

She is giving her a journal to complete everyday, and when she comes back she will tell the class about her memories!!! That's IT!!!! Oh...and she said for her to take a picture with Pooh...because that is her favorite! pooh:

Our school district is super strict about taking time off of school, and she will have unexcused absences...but I'm glad her teacher is being so great about it! :teacher:

That's fantastic - we were lucky as well - DD's teacher was very understanding as well - promised not to spoil the surprise... Have to remember to get him something from Disney as well

For our first trip when my oldest was in first that was her homework too. We turned it into a scrapbook of our vacation. I loved it.
Yay for pixie dust!:wizard:

DH just checked the Lines app and it said Soarin' had a 3 minute wait and a FP return of 7:35--WHAAAT? I just can't wrap my head around that. He also checked current weather and it said it was cloudy and 75 degrees!

Packing more tonight like swimsuits and stuff. It's been in the 60s here so I don't think we'll be needing them anymore until WDW!

I saw that on the Lines app, too! Interesting, since Epcot was supposed to be the park to avoid today! The wait times in the MK were ridiculously low, too, 10-12 minutes for Space or Splash Mountain. The only exception? DHS, of course, and TSM!:rotfl: I'm just ready for the wait to be over, but I'm excited for everyone leaving!:goodvibes

Yeah, good ol' TSM! Fastpasses gone and everything. You know, it's amazing that I can be sitting around my dining table 11 days out from a trip to Disney and say Hmm I wonder what the wait time for Peter Pan is and we can find out. There's a great big beautiful tomorrow...:rolleyes1

They finally approved it this afternoon!!!!!! Yipppppppeeeee!!!!!

Phew! Nothing like them waiting til the last minute! That's gotta be a load off of your mind!

Hope that tendonitis gets better-would hate to have you be in pain on your trip.

No kids? DD21 and I are going to check out Jellyrolls (adults only piano bar) on the Boardwalk before little sis shows up.

Just learned something from the modern marvels about TSM. I always assumed that Mr. Potato Head was basically a big puppet controlled by a guy looking through a hidden window. Noooooo. He is completely computerized animatronic. He is programmed for face recognition and even though the patter is repeated throughout, the computer does it all by himself. I am so impressed. DD is kind of creeped out now.

See, the how-they-do-it shows don't spoil the experience for me, when I get there I know it's all done by magic. :wizard:

They took their sweet time, but I will happy dance for you!:banana:

I would love to watch that--is it on cable right now or something? I don't have cable so that wouldn't help me :upsidedow but still! I love all the Imagineering guides, the Realityland book etc. It doesn't spoil the magic for me either!
