September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Please add me to the master list - Sept 9 at POP and Sept 10-18 at Coronado Springs!

This is my first trip, and I don't have kids so I probably won't be much help buuuut I'm definitely planning on mid-day breaks. I want to be at the parks at rope drop most days and I don't think I'll have the energy to make it through the whole day without resting a little. The way I see it I'll be avoiding the afternoon crowds at the parks and enjoying the slightly less crowded pools.

Our first trip was August 09, just DH and me. We needed the break on most days, lol. We didn't break on our Epcot days because walking around World Showcase and shopping was fairly relaxing, but almost every day we took one.

I asked DH if he wanted to skip breaks this trip - he said no way, that was his time to walk around the Air Conditioned room in his skivvies ;)

There don't seem to be too many Coronado Springs people in the master list. I'm a little worried I made the wrong choice!

Dani, I hope you, your children and your parents have a wonderful trip. It will be good for them and for you.:headache:

I LOVE Coronado Springs! The rooms are so pretty and the grounds and pool are awesome (make sure you walk around outside at night, too! The building lights look so nice around the lake!). We weren't too impressed with their Pepper Market dining option (I'm a vegetarian), but the ambience of the resort made up for it! I've been to Cancun before and it was very reminiscent of that. It has a great resort feel and makes you believe you are "miles away" from the hustle and bustle of life. The resort was refurbished about a couple of years ago, so it doesn't feel or look as old as some other resorts. The bedding and decor are modern and there are queen beds instead of full beds. The lobby is breathtaking, too. Don't worry, you won't be disappointed!

Have you seen the pictures on Disney's website?? Just looking at them makes me want to be there again!! We also love The Three Caballeros, and they are there as topiary figures out back, which is so awesome! http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/coronado-springs-resort/

Thanks! I want her to come so badly and her and my dad couldn't afford their own room so I figured putting them in with us and upgrading to CL is a good idea because the lounge will give us some extra space. My parents can hang out there while I get the kids ready, or my dad who usually goes to bed super early can stay in the room with the kids while my mom and I unwind in the evening. All they're paying for is their tickets and dining (but I'm trying to put aside a few extra bucks towards that too!).

I know both resorts are great and being together is what's really going to make this trip special. I just want to make it extra special any possible way for my parents. I'm a sap!

How nice! I hope it's magical! :wizard:

I am coming over from the other Sep 2011 thread also. We will be staying at CSR from the 17-24th! This will be my baby's first trip. He will be 18 months at the time. It will my DH, SIS, and BIL also.
I am the master planner of this trip and am having so much fun already.

Hi guys! I previously posted that we were planning to stay at GF in September while attended a conference for work. However, when I received the 40% off pin, I decided it would be even cheaper than the conference rate to stay at my dream resort, Polynesian! I booked last week! We'll be saying ALOHA to WDW Sept 16-24 and can't wait!

We'll be @ CSR from 9/3 to 9/11... have never stayed @ this moderate (trips to POR and CBR previously), but we wanted to try something new. I'm really looking forward to checking out the resort.

Good for you Wendy. I just called to see if we could afford to change our plans and well I love the Poly, but it just won't work for us on this trip. It's a great resort. Enjoy your vacation!

Sheila-- I refuse to let you leave.:lmao: Kidding. I'm glad it worked out for you to go and you were able to use the pin! Now you won't be battling heat stroke when you're there. We liked our Oct trips in the past and I was really hoping to get the kids on board this year for another time but they chose the heat of you-know-where as a preferred time of the year.

:faint:

Dani-- your family has been thru so much-- I hope that the trip is wonderful for you.

JBmom--- maybe we could persuade Shelly to tell us about the frog on her makeup case ....:thumbsup2

Welcome to all new arrivals on our thread!!!:goodvibes

I can't believe how long the list has gotten!

Aww, sjs314 (sorry, I'm not sure of your "real" name ;)), sorry you aren't going in Sept! But, enjoy October even more! One of these days, we'll head down for F&W. We hit a soft opening in 2008 and got to enjoy a few stands, but it just wasn't the same.

disneydreamin -- you're still here?!?! Tell that little one to get out here and meet the crazy Sept dissers right now!

I understand planning things around someone. We took DH's grandma last year in Sept for her 80th bday and we really tried to schedule things for her. It ended up that my DMIL and grandma spent a lot of time at the Poly pool and the CL lounge, so we had to throw our plans out the window and wing it.

ETA -- I guess I might want to check in your sig, Sheila, because if I could read, I would know what your name is. Sorry.

Miss Liz-Thank You I think we will enjoy ourselves more in October it will be our first time at F&W so I am super excited!

Sheila,
My dates are mostly in October too, the extra wait is killing me! Stick around so I have someone to wait with! Besides, the October threads I have found are slooooow.....:rotfl:
Marce

I am here Marce and I agree the October Thread is just not a happening place like this one. I changed my one ticker it went from 207 to 237 days :scared1: one more ticker to change

I really want her to enjoy the resort and she said GF looks just dreamy. Just a little background info: June 09 I get hit a car, 3 days later my 13 yr old sister dies, 6 months later I get by another car. She's still dealing with the loss of my sister and not doing very well. The one thing she's really looking forward to is her new granddaughter and taking this trip to Disney with the kids, so if staying at GF makes her happy I'm all for it. I already know not to schedule her for early morning ADRs unless it's CRT or Chef Mickey's.
I also don't want DS to be disappointed. This is where our split comes in. I actually really want to stay at both resorts so that's no biggie. The only problem is how much time at each. I think 4 at Poly/5 at GF could be a pretty decent compromise...I could also just add another night and call it even! lol

So sorry about your sister
If possible I would add the 1 more day and make it even, I like your way of thinking, and you are one special daughter taking your mom to GF, that is my dream resort

CL sound like a wonderful idea and you are so right about being together is what will be so special about this trip. I sent you a pm

Jo- how can I leave? ............I would miss you too much and what is this that I missed about Shelly and a frog on her makeup case?
Now that I am thinking about it I vaguely recall someone writing about a frog with a pic in their TR............was that Shelly.....getting old is a terrible thing , the memory is the fist thing to go

I forgot about that! Yes, Shelly please tell the frog story. Apparently, there are frogs out to scare the unsuspecting vacationers at POR.

Dani, I hope you, your children and your parents have a wonderful trip. It will be good for them and for you.:headache:

I'm hoping so. I really hope it helps my mom to heal.

How nice! I hope it's magical! :wizard:

Thanks! It's Disney so how can it not be?!

We'll see you there! We'll be at Poly Sept 20-24 at least.

disneydreamin247 - So sorry

Thanks :) My mom has a hard time because she cared for her through the entire thing. My sister was severely disabled and was paralyzed for a year and a half before she passed.

Dani-- your family has been thru so much-- I hope that the trip is wonderful for you.

Thanks. We have a strong support network which makes it much easier. Nothing like a big family of loud Italians to help you through the hard times. lol

I'm all about maximizing the time in Disney  I have crazy ways of justifying it! I'm really hoping this trip will help my mom come back around. She's been making progress, and the baby is the first thing she's really been excited about since my sister passed. I really feel this baby is a gift from my sister to help us all heal.

So sorry to hear all this, wishing for extra pixie dust for your family during your trip!:wizard:

I'm a very terrible person, but... I almost abandoned my PT report.. again. :confused3 I don't understand why I can't discipline myself to do this?!

Count us in!! Exactly 199 days from today we'll arrive at WDW. We'll be at the Poly 9/17 thru 9/25.:banana: It'll be me, dh, ds-7, dd-7 and ds-6.

I couldn't wait any longer for JB to come out with their schedule so I just booked our airfare through SW.

Our last trip was in Sept 09 and I'm trying to add a few different things this time around so we're going to see La Nouba and I'm going to try to book the Fantasmic dinner package as we've never seen it.

I can't believe how obsessed I've become with planning this time (didn't do this for the last trip). I review our schedule several times a day - I'll be so happy when the ADRs are finally out of the way...
