September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

What a cute outfit! Very creative. Also, WOW what a great Mary! She looks a lot like Julie Andrews!

Congrats to everyone who scored free dining today! Those phone queue times sound insane.

We went to Chicago today to go to IKEA and the Disney Outlet! All their park-specific merchandise was Disneyland which was kind of weird. But they did have some park merch that was nonspecific to either and I found some good things. It helped to tide me over until September for all those great Disney souvenirs.

Thanks Colleen!

LOVE the competition pics! Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2 I was wondering this weekend how she was doing (both with being sick and with competition). What songs were her lyrical and jazz?

Yes, I have a hard time taking my kids out for more than a school week (5 days). Besides that, I will be in classes too.....so it will be hard for me to miss as well! :confused3
Her Lyrical was "Man in the Mirror" and Jazz was "Think"( think what ur about to do to me, ...ok I forget the words and ya'all don't want me to sing...LOL)

Firday we went to the Disney store and I was disappointed. I thought...Chicago...it would be Bigger...a few floors, but no it was about as big as normal ones. I did see some shirts I liked but I was broke after American Girl....:rotfl: Hope to return to Chicago next yr with our friends.

Yeah I think it is weird that the Disney store isn't bigger. I saw some cute shirts there too...there were ones that said Chicago with a Mickey head as the "o", but I too was out of cash after American Girl. :lmao:

JewelG----We are planning on doing MNSSHP on the 27th but after this American Girl/ Dance Competition Chicago trip...I will be waiting to get mine...LOL I don't see that date sellng out anytime soon! Just my opinion!

We're planning on MNSSHP that night, too! My oldest DD especially is getting a little costume leery (and so am I, since everything you find in that size shows way too much of her), but I actually did the spiral Mickey tie dyes in orange and black for that night. These are our costumes!:rotfl:

Thanks girls for the comments about my DD.....You wouldn't know with her fabulous smile that she was dancing with a 101 fever. That's what competition is all about!! ...I think they are both pretty stinkin gorgeous too!!

The pics were WONDERFUL, and your DDs are beautiful! And as a side note, I am so glad you were able to get the free dining!:yay:

I know it was a hour and half for me also. But them some people were calling and getting threw within 7 minutes. I thought I got lost in que somewhere.

I guess I got really lucky. The CM I spoke to told me I was her first call of the morning. I'm sorry you had to wait so long!:scared1:

This seems to be my biggest struggle. My older DD will be in her first semester of high school; the younger DD will be in her first semester of middle school. We didn't get approval from the doctor to take my little one to Florida until this past year, so we've been in the time crunch ever since. Unfortunately, the only way it was financially possible was to do it during the school year.:guilty: I'm going to be watching them really closely to make sure that they stay on track when we're back.

Add me to that list. We are taking dd out of K for 6 days. Not the best choice I'm sure. But we like going in September and it just works with our work schedules.

I'm taking DS out for 8 days. He is in special ed so he goes all year round. He only has a few days off at the end of June and a week at the end of the summer. Unfortunately I can't go at those times because I can't get off from work. The higher ups take that time so I have to go in September.

I'm going to try calling later to see if they opened up any extra times for PL. I want to try to get a 400 or 430 pm time for the girls. We have it scheduled for a non MNSSHP night but I really want if for the Halloween night.

Good morning everyone!! The sun is out here but not for long it is suppose to rain again the whole week. But at least it is better than snow.

Those shirts sound cute!! We go the AG store several times a year but we never go to the Disney store there. After a couple of hours in AG we all tend to be a little over-stimulated :upsidedow but I'll make it a point to stop in there the next time we go and check out the shirts :)

We don't get fall break and my DH can't get the times off when the kids are. Not only that it would cost double. :scared1: The only one I am gonna have to focus more time on is DD(11) 6th grade in sept. But she usually gets all her homework done on the plane. Hoping no reports that week. DD(7) 2nd grade in sept-- will be easy. Just find out the agenda for that week and teach myself. Kinda unsure why ya are worried about Elementary kids? :confused3 Ya'll can teach that!! They won't miss anything important.
Our principal always says that our time as a family is as important as their education. As life moves on and gets busier and busier....I so agree! One day our kids will be adults and out of our home. They won't remember the week they learned 2+2=4....they will remember the day they were at WDW and dad ran into the wall spilling water on himself and it made them all laugh like crazy.:rotfl::love: I will move my week days either way to avoid huge tests as they get older(middle school-HS) but other then that won't ever change taking our special trips!!

OK so now ADR's are done, FD done, BBB done, I swear I have most clothing bought that I am not making...LOL I guess since I am back from Dance competition I should get back working on my sewing.

We were all talking about things we bring, so I printed up my cruise packing list...some of those things aren't the same for WDW but things I would still bring are:
motrin
sunscreen
stamps for postcards
Laptop & charger
phone & charger
ipod & charger
DS's & chargers
hand sanitizer
hair towels(dollar store)
bath sponges
suction hooks for shower for sponges
wipes(for messy faces for photos)
q-tips
script meds
benedryl pills and ointment
kids cough syrup
magnets for doors or clings for windows
collaspable hamper
backpack for parks
over the door hanger for sunglasses, goggles, odds and ends
matching outfit accessories
hair ponies, barretts, ect
Nail file or clippers
scissors
make-up
lotion
dry erase board for door(when traveling with a group)or a magnet notepad and then tell ur party to write the note and slip it under the door some passer buyers don't remove the note

Ok I know I have added more to this list....hopefully this will remind some of ya of something they wanna bring.

for beer there is a Hess gas station that is I believe near the Grand Floridian on property that sells beer, for normal retail!!! My DH paid about $13 for a case of Miller Lite which wasn't too bad I don't think....

and thanks Forthelove! I need to start on my lists BADLY.......

I have hit a funk with my husbands deployment...... my Gma is not doing so well, my nephew had to have open heart surgery, I've passed the 100 day mark of my DH being gone and have yet to hit the 100 day mark for his return.... :(

I need to get out of my funk...... I'm hoping Disney planning helps LOL

I can't wait till my DH is on shore duty so my YDD can join dance, I know she'd love it. your DD is too cute!!

I think someone posted on the old thread but I just don't have the time to go search, do I need to make reservations for the barber shop for my dd's first hair cut? And if so where or how do I do that? Thanks!

Dh and I weren't sure dd doesn't have a ton of hair but the sides and back are getting there and I think by September a trim will be perfect!

I agree - Kelly's in grade 3 in the fall but I know we'll be able to catch her up no problem - our biggest issue will be getting the work without her finding out because the trip is a surprise... lol... good thing I get the teacher's emails at the start of each year :) the family time is what its all about for sure :)

I know when we went in 2004 we didn't have to make an appointment - just walked in - our daughter was 19 months at the time and didn't have much hair either - was more the fact she got the "first haircut" mickey ears... :lovestruc

yeah I have to do that to cause my girls won't know....I will have to tell Syd we are going to my aunt's in Tampa cause she will be in a different building all together for middle school and will wanna prepare herself. Nelia, I already know what I will have for her cause she will have the same teacher Syd had for primamry multiage so she will finish it all on the plane ride to DC!

Can I join the September thread? I'm going to celebrate my 30th birthday at POFQ. We'll be there from Sept 1-5.

I would make a reservation because sometimes the line can get long and those with reservations get taken before walk-ups. I think you just call the WDW-DINE number and they should be able to take care of it! Just let them know you'd like to make an appointment for a First Haircut at the Main Street barbershop :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your grandma, and I hope your nephew has a speedy recovery :wizard:

It must be hard missing your husband , but what a great and wonderful celebration, in more ways than one, to look forward to when he does come back home :cloud9:

question for all you who have done alot of dining. A friend of mine says he's dined at AKL before and it was a a blast. Crazy restaurant where you ask for ketchup they yell out for someone's ketchup, need crayons-just ask and people get up from their tables to give u the ones they aren't using. Horse race (on stick ponies) around the restaurant...anyone know where he is talking...said he couldn't remember the name but said it was so much fun and the kids loved it!! HELP!!
