Just how old is this punk....I mean your son????

wic0721 - LOL, that is why I like it here. You all just automatically assume that I have no culpability in the whole matter. Is there really anything wrong with locking them in a closet for a few years as long as you provide bread, water and a place to go to the bathroom? Not really but if it were retroactive I might consider it especially since they do that, for shorter periods of time, to my grandkids. He and I were so close when he was growing up that this has hit me like a ton of bricks. The 'punk" I mean dear son just turned 37 so he should know better. Treat me how you will but do not mess with my grandkids is how I feel.

My dil might have a bit of an excuse since she was raised so badly but my son was not raised that way (most of the time, no one said I was perfect even though I did stay at a Holiday Inn once). :lmao:

Poohbear67, I feel for you not getting to see your grandson. I hope it turns out well for the both of you. I figure the more folks to love a kid the better. I would not waste my time begging for suitcase room cause you know that DIS folks always bring home more than they done brought. I have added your lime green Mickey keychain to my vacation purse and tucked the DIS pin away for future use too. Now, I am even more OBVIOUS!! One of the other bags had a rock in it and the word on it is also the name of the town I live in. I am going to put it in one of my potted plants. No, I did not say I had a plant of pot folks!! I sort fear I might do so by accident cause I have no idea what the stuff looks like though. Would be just my luck. :scared1:

keliblue, your math and counting skills impress me. I barely know what month it is now let alone how long until a future date. :teacher:

I have the basement door all unlocked and a flashlight at the ready so I am sure that a tornado is not going to hit me. Be prepared and nothing will happen so I worry about everything so nothing will happen. I rent out by the hour if any of you want me to worry for you. I have years of experience. Somehow all the things I never thought would happen did though. :confused3

Pooh,
It might take a while to convince my DH that I should got to WDW alone. Maybe I can ask for the trip for Christmas. lol I will let you know what kind of response I get when he comes back home from this trip.

Easter is in March so vacations will start a bit before that so keep that in mind too.

Goofy,
If a tornado comes you hold on girl. Don't let it take you away from us now. We are always ready for a tornado too when we get warnings but they are about 40 miles north of us now. Wish we could get a weather radio to work but we live too far into no mans land for that. I hope you were careful taking DH (or do you use another letter before H) to bowling.

Sorry to hear about the butthead son's on the list. My mother has 4 of them, BH son's that is, but that is her own fault since she caters to them and would give them her last penny and starve to death. It drives me crazy because then she cries to me how she is broke and has nothing. I feel like I have become her mother but I believe in tough love even though I know she is too old to ever change.

I have a friend who became a father at 16 and a grandfather at 30! :scared1: He and his 16 year old girlfriend got married when she became pregnant...they are still married, have 4 children and 9 grandchildren now! :scared:

Hey SG,

Hope everyone made it through the night safely out there?? I heard you had some wicked weather last night!

wic0721, we got some much needed rain and that was all here last night. I feel for those around us that were not that lucky though. Thank you for your concern. It would take a mighty wind to knock me off my feet though. I am sturdy and besides I know to turn sideways and let the wind blow through my ears to mitagate the damage.

Poohbear67, grandmothers do not look like the storybook version anymore and I say hooray!!! The grandkids have more fun with you youthful sort too. My grandkids have such hectic lives that they enjoy being with boring old me though. My oldest grandson is getting his learner's permit as I write. :scared1:

angwill, you are right with the tough love on your mom. The same rules that apply to kids applies to parents. I think folks should do their best to take care of themselves and do not think it right to make bad decisions and then expect those who made good ones to pick up the slack. I hope you get to go to DW. Men go on trips alone and no one thinks anything about it. I have been 35 years without a vacation. Please do not wait so long for yourself. Your husband might notice all that you do if you are not there to do it. Sounds like a winning idea to me!! :)

I got news today that my dil gave her youngest son to his father as she was tired of messing with him. I would have taken him in a flash. He is not blood but is in my heart where it counts. BTW, the father is not any better than the dil. Scary, very scary.

Yes I know that was awful last night I was so upset with our manager for not taking CC out before he did. Good luck on Sat.

Became a grandmama last year at 39:scared1: That is awesome that they are still going strong Congrats to them.

I know it would be a great way to start the World Series off wouldn't it????

Thanks now if I could just see and hold him and spend some time with him. Oh I didn't tell you gals this one the day he was born she changed his name 3 different times how is that one for ya:confused3.

going home will be on later tonight.

Poohbear67, sometimes all you can do is hold your grandkids in your heart if you cannot hold them in your lap. I buy books and tape myself reading them to my Fab Four (the grandkids I do not get to see) and write notes and cards to them so that someday they will know how much I love them. I just got news that their mom turned one over to his dad. (even worse situation) It was the one she refused to homeschool cause he was too "stupid". Shoot if you must this old grey head but do not hurt my grandkids or the MEAN will come out in me and that does not happen often!! :scared1: (Did I tell you all that I heard from my son for the first time in over 5 years the other day??) It was not nice but hey, I have low expectations and it was better than nothing. I may just cross stitch the words on a sampler and hang them on my wall. Should have beat the kid. Is it too late???? :lmao:

On the good side my oldest grandson just got his learner's permit. Now I will have to prove my love by going for a ride with him. Anyone have a few tranquilizers they could send my way??

Bought myself a brand, spanking new coat today. I have not had one in over ten years. This one is about half the size of the other one and is RED.

wic0721, I will not care who wins the ballgame until my youngest grandson tells me who to root for. :cheer2:

Been shopping all day. Bought two room heaters as we have a huge house and only really occupy two of them during the day so I hope this helps. Electric is cheaper than gas. :teacher:

I hope you all are having the nice fall day that we are. Cool, leaves swishing through the air, sun shining, and the sound of kids laughing as they play. What more could a person want??

SG/Linda

Hey good luck tonight Poohbear!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, I'm off to bowling soon! I'm a candlepin bowler...I know most of you don't know what that is!:lmao: :lmao:

You have a nice Monday too Timmy.

Linda,
35 years since getting away alone? It sounds like you need a little R&R away from DH. What are you doing the first few months of the year? I think you need a little girls only get away too. Seriously, pack up DH and ship him off for a little visit with one of you kids. You know they miss their one on one time with their daddy. lol

As for a me I vacation without DH often. I prefer to have him with but am independant enough to go it alone and he is fine with it. Well my son is always with me though so this would be the first without him and believe me he will miss me more than I would miss him because he is the biggest mama's boy. I don't want it to sound mean because I love him and all and would miss him as a person but I really need the vacation away from his teenage mouth and all the homework struggles (he just turned 13 but the hormones started rushing at about 12). Talk about locking problem children in closets my fantasy involves duck taping the mouth with a rag in it. lol Seriously, he really is the greatest kid and very comassionate and loving but the mouth opens before the brain engages.
Anyway I moved out at age 16 and lived on my own till I was 26 and married DH after dating for a year (so unlike me but I knew he was the one) so I am no stranger to being independant from a young age. Besides that DH's job is traveling so I am lucky to see him for a few hours a week and one week a month. My mother thinks I am crazy that I vacation without DH because she said she wouldn't have the guts to do something like that but then again she would have been a basket case if her husband's job consisted of any travel too.
If I waited for DH to go on vacation I would never go anywhere since he is a workaholic who is just learning to get away and have fun with his family and then he still has his phone plastered to his ear a lot of the time. He has been all over the world and lived in Germany for many years so travel isn't as exciting for him. It is easier to get him up to Wisconsin Dells or somewhere closer and for a shorter period of time and he absolutly refuses to go on a cruise. I was lucky to get him deep sea fishing and only because he could see land still but he had a blast and would never have gone if I didn't convince him a shark wouldn't eat him. lol The funniest thing was when he caught a baby shark and hid behind DS and I. lol The fishermen on the boat wouldn't let him live it down either.

Congrats Gal they did it and we STINK who would have thunk it!!!:lmao: :rotfl:

Mike is in a very bad mood this morning!! We didn't watch the begining of the game cuz we were at Boo at the Zoo which is trick or treating at the zoo basically it was fun they had so many different entertainers there, they had stiltwalkers , fire people and magicans etc. it was fun. other than that I worked for the most part oh I did I mention we went to the Jake on Saturday to watch that thing of a game.

So how was your weekend ??? When do you want me to send you your Walleye or do you still want it??? Fair is fair but if you don't want it I will have no problem with it.

You guys don't stink, look how far you made it! Plus you killed the Yankees! :thumbsup2

My weekend was good, Kellie had a Girl Scout event yesterday afternoon at a local park, she was gone for most of the afternoon. When I went to pick her up, I brought the dog with me...we were walking around the trails and ran into a couple with an 11 week old Chesapeake Bay Retreiver, I finally got to see what Peanut must have looked like when she was a pup! That little guy was sooo cute!

Other than that, I really didn't do all that much. Like I said I bowled last night, hit above my average. :thumbsup2

You don't need to send me the walleye, you sent me a gift bag already...so we're all set!

One of my territories here at work is Colorado, one of my customers and her son are huge Red Sox fans, and her husband and daughter are Rockies fans...I already emailed her asking how that's going to work in her household this week! :rotfl2: :scared:

Where have you been Timmy?? We have all been worried. Is everything okay??:goodvibes :goodvibes
