Hi Stinkerbe11, this is my 2nd Disney Cruise & 1st to Alaska. I was wondering if you could give me some tips. I purchased this as a Xmas present, I wanted to get some gifts that hint to where we are going. Any ideas?

Do you think hiking boots are necessary or waterproof shoes?
Light jacket vs. heavy jacket?

Anything will be helpful.

I will have to think about the gift part as I am terrible at keeping surprises to myself I have never been to Alaska, but I am thinking of waterproof shoes or boots too. I have read on the boards that people have had success with waterproof spray for tennis shoes... I have also heard that layering is the way to go with clothing. I got a waterproof Marmot jacket that I absolutely love and even though it's for Alaska, I have been wearing it almost every day here in CA.

This is definitely a new vacation type for our family. My in-laws cruised Alaska last year, so I will ask them for some tips and pass them along.

We are happy to announce that we booked this wonderful cruise last week on our cruise to the Western Caribbean. Little did I know that this Alaskan cruise was to be our honeymoon sense my soon to be hubby "Ty" purposed the next day (formal night) in front of MICKEY MOUSE!!! Hello!!! We have not booked yet but are planning to take this cruise! We always sail in September, it will be my parents, myself (college student), and younger brother. Other family members may be joining us this time around but that is still up in the air. This will my my families 3rd Disney Cruise, 2nd on the Wonder, but first to Alaska! This is also my graduation gift from my parents as I will be graduating with my BA in December 2014. Excited to participate fish extenders again this cruise!

Hi fellow cruisers!

We'll be on this cruise, our second on DCL. Our first was on the Wonder but before we had kids and it was to the Bahamas... When we sail DS will be 4 and DD will be 23 months. We've done the parks with both of them and are ready to have a bit more of a relaxing time while still getting our Mouse fix haha!

My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and decided to leave our 4 kids with Grandma and celebrate with Mickey! Well...I'm going for Mickey (and Alaska of course), but my husband is only going for Alaska. Thankfully he is indulging my love of all things Disney! We were originally booked for the last week of August, but due to a conflict in schedule we bumped it up to this week. We are super excited...and have been counting down the days for almost a year now. I'm so glad I can now say that THIS YEAR we are sailing!

This cruise is a surprise for my DH. He is not much of a cruiser having had a less than pleasant experience on a carnival Cruise about 5 years ago. I've cruised dcl with my bff and tried to tell him what a difference it is. We've been wanting a land tour vacation of Alaska but just can't afford. Since time was running out to use my sandy discount I figured now or never. I think with the beautiful vista's we will see from ship he will be very happy.
Or at least I hope so. Lol since it's taken me some time to build up the vacation fund for this trip.

We just booked this cruise while we were on the Fantasy. This will be our 8th Disney cruise, but our first Alaskan cruise. We love the Wonder and look forward to cruising on her again!!! I will be looking for packing suggestions. This won't be like cruising on the Caribbean! I requested the FB group. Yay
