Carol, that would be a good article for the news letter. :thumbsup2

Does this mean you are volunteering Scott?

Now that vacation is over :sad1: it means getting another newsletter ready :simba: (paws up!)

This newsletter will be about St. Thomas and St. John!! Send me information on excursions you have done, your favorite shopping, place to relax, place to snorkel, etc. on the islands...anything!!! Don't worry if you can't write, I will edit whatever I get. Just give me notes if you don't want to put together an article, but want info in the newsletter. I need fully written articles by February 2 end of day and articles that need to be written by end of day February 1. I did get some stuff for the Getting to Know You section, but can always use more!! Then there's the article about gifts that Scott has volunteered to do. If anyone wants to add stuff to that section, let me know!! Finally, I think Pirate Pete is going to give us a second article about his recent RCCL cruise.

Speaking of the Getting to Know You section...I haven't seen any guesses this month, except one. Do you know your cruisers??????

Yes, they had the typical pool games. They had the casino. They had the fitness challenge stuff. On the second day at sea, they had one cooking demonstration, one towel folding demonstration and a napkin folding class. The problem with most of these was that they were in the centrum which was small on the Grandeur. The Soverign's centrum is much larger. The captain did a q&a. But all of this was on the second day at sea.

My biggest issue was cleanliness. Vaccuming was not done daily in the public areas. The halls certainly weren't done regularly. The walls in our cabin had pencil scribbles and make up all over them. The shower curtain was dirty on the bottom (looked like mold or mildew to me). And there was a layer of dust under the edge of the tv.

We had great company though :goodvibes

I am a little confused as to "gifts." Do all the cruisers bring gifts on board to pass out to fellow cruisers? Thanks for any help.

I posted a thread to WinoTracy and I think it probably should have gone to Scott.
Are we supposed to bring gifts on board for fellow Dis cruisers? I'm new to this and I apologize for this question but what exactly are the "gifts" about? Thanks for any help.

Hygiene99,

Awhile back you said that you had sent me a PM with the link for the new smilie 11 day cruise sign. I am sorry that I haven't got back to you sooner but I didn't get it. :confused3 :sad2: Would you please send it to me again. Thanks! :thanks:

Annrae and others who where not on the Panama Canal Cruise, no one expects gifts from all other cruisers. It started with some folks offering to make door magnets, name tags and lanyards, and some others were bringing bubbles for the sailing away party. It kind of grew from there, some people getting really creative with things such as specially ordered M&M's in DIS green, or rolls of life saver mints with custom wrappers. Others found things related to the tropics at their local dollar stores or out of Oriental Trading Post catalogue. Some folks made bookmarks on their computers. Alot were given anonomously. Again, the gifts were something that some but not all the folks on the DIS board created for other cruisers. We would hate to feel that anyone felt they had to come up with a gift for each stateroom or cruiser. Hope this helps you understand the background of the "gifts".

Lynn :eeyore:

I have whole bunches of stuff that would magically appear on our fish extender. The repo cruise was great!

The fish extenders made spotting your room from down the hall easier, too. We were on deck 8 (sigh, not this time) so miles and miles of rooms. I will really miss the REALLY NICE chairs on the verandah--they give the ones on deck for a run for the money. Sleeping on the verandah...aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

No verandah for us this cruise either - unless I get some big commissions between now and then!

Thanks for the ideas for gifts - I have lot of ideas now! I love that kind of stuff.

Scott - looking forward to your article.... :cool1:

Annrae - Nothing is expected... Just fun times! I wasn't on the repo cruises either...

Yes, I'm still lurking... I guess hoping somehow against hope that we'lll be able to swing thig cruise (i.e. win the LOTTERY!!!)

Here are some of the things I remember of the top of my head... I'm sure others will jump in too!

Most all the gifts referenced our cruise in some way... Kingdom to Kingdom, First Panama Canal Cruise, May 14th to the 28th, etc.

Fish extenders, Bubbles... all sizes, Special M + M's with cruise sayings, Pads, Pens, Pencils, Mini Flashlights (to help find your way, you know where, in the middle of the night), Pirate Patches + Coins + Jewelry, Glow Necklaces, Flower Leis, Luggage Tags, Sail-away packet of Gum, Handiwipe, Luggage Fastener, + Pen, Recipe Booklet filled with Disney Recipes, Mint Tins, Chocolates, Door Magnets, Pirate Door Magnets, DCL Can Holder, Postcards from a person's hometown, or country, Candles in a special personalized glass holder, Mini Frisbees... I could go on + on!

I actually made a list somewhere... It was such fun. :thumbsup2

You guys will have SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME TOGETHER meeting each other and making memories!!!
Georgie, you forgot the Lanyards!
The Lanyards, organized by KPROS, were what really set our group out from all the rest. For some reason, we had a reputation as "Those Lanyard People" after a couple of days. :confused3

and Georgie, you came up with such wonderful ideas. Really added to the trip!

I'm sure I forgot many other things too... (apologies to all!) but the memories... WOW! :thumbsup2 I think I'll go open my memory box from the cruise and remember for a while!

Not wanting to start a shopping panic, like on the May repo...

I just had a flashback of visiting Wal-Mart at about 8:30 pm one night throwing all of the flip flops on the floor to find the ones that were blinky. :rotfl2:

We had to stop at a Wal-Mart down near Disneyland one night just to get those blinky-blinky flip flops!

Mention one little thing and you get volunteered. :rotfl: :rotfl: I will rope Lynn into helping with this one. I got a few things to do around the house now that I am home. Will get it going tonight I think. If I don’t get things going I never get to them. Since the first of the year I have earned my max of 80 hours of comp time and a good chunk of OT.

(paws up!) Can anyone tell us what this means ? Of Course it is Disney Related.
Could this relate to the Celebration of the Lion King???? Or is it kinda like “Phins Up” to a Parrot Head, or does it relate to the brother lions of Tsavo? OK now you guys have to do an article. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
