well I meant Sangria itself, not the punch recipe you provided....

perhaps Sangria is a combination of various things but specifically I am referring to this big jug of liquid called Sangria made by Carlo Rossi..it says Grape Wine and natural flavors...I was just wondering if and how much sugar it contained...

We are not wine drinkers by nature however I've had a few here and there but don't know squat about any type of wine really....other than there is red and white.....is there a Wine and related drinks for Dummies anywhere?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, I actually used sugar in my Sangria recipe sometimes. I used to use 1/2 cup for 2 quarts made. Now, I try to just use 7up (actually diet 7up) to ease out some of the calories and still add the sweetness.

My original Sangria was - get a 2 quart picture. Pour in a bottle of wine, add about 1/8 cup of brandy, 1/2 cup sugar and then fill to the top with Fruit Punch. Mix it all. then serve over ice. That is a great simple recipe. The cut up fruit - fuhgehtaboudit - that's just for show. :teeth:

These are all older pictures. Doesn't look great now because of the heat lately.

The pictures are great Tracy! What a beautiful backyard. :thumbsup2 I am in a new development in the Tampa Bay area which basically means = no back yard! :rotfl2: It is pretty small! But, I have a ton of ideas for landscaping. Now, I just need to get it done!! I am waiting for the heat to recede here in FL.

Tracy, Great newsletter, really liked the section on travel, very good.

Also didn’t know I was supposed to get a photo op, well I will consult with Cub Reporter Peter, and I am sure with his help, it will happen, I think Tropical night would be the best. That would be September 20, the night we leave St Thomas.

Star Gazing will be held on the evening we are in the littlest Latitude. So that should be the night we leave St. Lucia, September 21. Meet on the port side forward, near the B-Ball court during the First Watch at 2 bells. If it is overcast we will try again the next evening, same location same time.

Scott can we get this in english please? :rotfl:

Does anyone know the operating times for...

Flounders and the Oceaneer Club & Lab?

Here is what I found on it:

HOURS OF OPERATION: Typically, the hours of operation for the children's programs are 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., both for days on shore and at sea. For Flounder's Reef nursery, on 7-night cruises the hours are 5:45 p.m. to midnight each night, and 6 p.m. to midnight during the 3- and 4-night itineraries. Daytime hours vary according to the day’s schedule, and are available only for certain shore excursions. If you’re planning on leaving little ones in the nursery when you go ashore, be sure to check ahead of time if the nursery will be open during the hours of your excursion.

I also was advised that is you have a DCL excursion that leaves or meets prior to 9am that they typically will work with you.

Looks like the Oceaneers club is open from 7pm - 12am the first night and 9am - 12am or 1am from then on.
These times were taken from the 7-night western.

Flounders looks to have the following hours after the 1st night (5:30 - midnight):
9 am - 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 12 am (Castaway Cay day is 9 am - 1 pm).
Again, the hours of operation were taken from past navigators, so don't take them as written in stone.

I'm so overwhelmed with all the happenings going on i decided to put everything into my Outlook Calendar, days and times we are in port, excursion times, DIS events, etc.

In reviewing some items I had a few questions on the events listed on page 1......

Pirate Night Dis Meet - when is this? date/time not indicated

Scavenger Hunt - any updates?

ok now I scrolled further down and saw the following:

Special Dining Nights From DCl

Pirates Night - Sept. 24th, will be in St. Kitts
Formal Nights: Sept. 19th and Sept. 26th
Tropical Night: Sept. 20th, will be in St. Thomas

but then further down I seee...

September 19th is Pirate day.

so is that different from the Pirate night dinner ??? or are the dates mixed upp? are they two different events?

That's okay. But, yes Sangria itself is basically - wine, liquor & fruit juice. Most have sugar in it. I have had the Carlo Rossi. I sometimes use it as a starter for my sangria. I love those ingredients that just say "Natural" - yeah, Sugar is natural :lmao: :lmao: Okay, doing my search. FYI:

Dictionary definition of Sangria:

san·gri·a (săng-grē'ə, săn-) n.

A cold drink made of red or white wine mixed with brandy, sugar, fruit juice, and soda water. Also called sangaree.

[Probably from Spanish sangría, act of bleeding, sangria, from sangre, blood, from Latin sanguis, sanguin-.]

Okay, first, I don't know about a pirate day on the 19th. Maybe someone tomorrow will read and reply if there is one. I read that the Pirate photo (Pirate DIS meet) is tentatively, I believe to occur between the Main and Late Dining on Sept. 24 (Pirate Night). Sorry, I can't help with the scavenger hunt - did you check P1P5 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:  :joker:

I have been trying to organize everything too. My pack-list so to speak has everything by day...what we are wearing, doing, etc.... :lmao: :lmao:

I still haven't found those ingredients to the Carlo Rossi for you.

thanks for the info....I looked on the website but couldn;t find this...other than the navigator is this available somewhere?

Honestly, I'd have to say that's more of a function of DCL matresses than the motion of the ship. This will only be our 4th cruise (although we'll be doubling our total days sailing with Disney  ) and all 3 previous cruises had uncomfortable beds. Sorry folks, as much as I like DCL, their beds could use some serious improving.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: I thought so, myself on other cruises. This will be my first DCL cruise. I hate to hear that about the mattresses. I had high expectations! Hey, the mattresses in the Concierge level is always grand, though :cloud9: Unfortunately, we will be cruising in the cheap seats this cruise. :lmao:

No, he's quite a bit older than that, he just acts 17 most of the time (oh who am I kidding...he acts like a 2 year old most of the time. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: (BTW, he's looking over my shoulder as I type this. Love ya dear, mean it  )

I just did a Google for: Oceaneer Club Hours of Operation and I found this from the Family Travel Network.

http://www.familytravelnetwork.com/articles/kidsnteens_disney_cruise.asp

I have seen many sights that advise the same as well. They are the best as far as the timeframes the clubs are open. Now, of course if there is no demand I have heard that they can actually close. In other words if there was only one child in the facility, etc. But, this is very, very rare. I think it happens occassionally for the Teens.

That's where I found the events listed...the post on the SH said it wasn't concrete yet so I was just asking if anything had been firmed up.

I still haven't found those ingredients to the Carlo Rossi for you.

I know what you mean, I'm used to using Outlook so I just started entering everything in there and then I can print out the lists by day, week view, whatever...

thanks for the info on Sangria....I remembered someone had like a liter of something called Sangria at some event recently that I was at and I saw it had something like 40ish grams of sugar...now I don;t know if that was really wine or a punch just called Sangria and thats why it had so much sugar

I panicked because I recently bought that huge jug of Carlo Rossi sangria just because I kinda like red or I guess in this case grape wine, sure its probably crap ....but then freaked when i saw the sugar content on the Sangria "punch" bottle.

I'm diabetic so sugar content of that nature would knock me out guaranteed!!

In reality, alcohol in general is not good for diabetics but I guess anyhting in moderation is ok, trying to juggle the wine is good for you vs sugar is bad can turn you into a classic jeckyl and hyde....sheeshh

Sangria is basically "sweetened wine" - with sugar or fruit juice (which is just natural sugar :lmao: - as you know being diabetic). My brother is diabetic and when he came to visit he loved the sangria, but his sugar levels do not like it!!

I found that the best little spritzer to get the health benefits with red wine if you don't like the taste so much (or just want it a little sweeter) is just to do half red wine in a glass and the other half put in Diet 7up/Diet Sprite. Now, that is lower cal and refreshing.
