In my younger days I was a "car hop" at a root-beer stand, and I believe that was considered a "Drive-In". I also remember going to an outdoor parcking lot where they showed 3rd rate movies and they also called this a " Drive-In".

Know this shoows my age but hope it helps!

Doug - Did you used to work at an A&W? They had the best root beer - very creamy. The last time we were in Findlay, OH we went to a drive in A&W. None here in Michigan though, and it isn't the same from a can.
