The lanyards are going Hollywood.

I am going to a taping tomorrow and will sneak the lanyard around my neck. If the camera passes by, the lanyards will be seen by all America. ;)

OK all - I started reading at 6:45 pm and finished at 12:10 am. Really doesn't everyone have anything better to do? :rolleyes1 (as if I didn't spend almost 6 hrs catching up! :rolleyes1 Ok before anybody asks and if anyone is interested - had my son's b-day - my oldest dd b-day, our anniversary and my big 4-0 to celebrate and I passed my first milestone - my 1st ever hangover - (which after the 2 pm wake up the next day really wasn't all that bad) :teeth: :smooth: Popped a couple of extra-strength tylonel and put the headache to rest! Although I have to say I had a blast for the first time in a LLOOOONNNNNGGGGGG time!

Anyway, a couple of ?'s:

Icunurse - Celeste - I went to see my dr and informed him we were traveling Carribean and requested shots, he told me I didn't really need them - what is your suggestion? Do I continue to harass him or go to someone else? And do I really want all them shots? (We are also doing the Mediterranean cruise next year so I'm assuming the tetanus is unavoidable)

TO Any and All: Does anyone know if they will be doing special one of a kind menus as they did on the PC cruises last year? Since technically we will be doing 11 days (and after the 10 - does Disney really need them?), anyone else interested in starting a collection of menus?

Third, does Guest Services (characters) still sign pillowcases? I know that they did it on the Magic but haven't been on the Wonder since its inaugural year. If they do - those with kids - don't miss out on this - it makes for an awesome gift - I need to get some others as my nieces and nepehws have absconded (?) with mine. pirate:

Well, that seems to be all my fried brain can handle for now - should I think of any - Ill write again.

OH Yeah - for the person with the 17 yr old son - I too am taking my son who just turned 20 in July - I'm sure if they're aren't too many teenagers young adults on board that they'll meet - I don't think that the age difference is that much of a difference when it comes to boys around that age - anyway, he too is hoping that others will be onboard although he seems to be friendly with just about everyone else but his parents. Don't know for sure as he's my oldest. But I hear that most boys are like that and that eventually they grow out of that surliness. At least I'm hoping.

AirForceMomof2 I will pm you with a couple of questions so hope you get it.

Can anyone tell me the post # for the pirate link? I too am getting some sucky ones and have been waiting for a decent one although I want to try other variations as suggested in some recently read posts. :joker:

Oh and in regards to the Disney Mix Sticks - I Totally lucked out and have all of you beat - today I went to a mom and pop gadget store here in Hawaiian Gardens - he was selling an opened version of the Forever a Princess princess: mix stick and since the owner wasn't sure if it worked he offered it to me for $10. That's right, took it home and after charging it up and getting an SD card with music - it worked wonderfully - apparantly he wasn't sure if it worked and was tired of it being in his store - was making room for new gizmos and gadget and wanted it out. I considered myself lucky and took the chance since things like that NEVER happen to me - so now I (well technically it was supposed to be mine but my youngest DD is allowing me to use it on this cruise - ) I am the proud owner and will probably use it on my daily :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 walks around deck 4 with Glindamood!!!!

TA TA for Now everyone and sorry its so late - stay safe - Laura :wave2:

Cathy - I have a question for you but can't seem to figure out how to pm you without hunting down all the last 40 something pages - can you pm me? (unless of course I figure it out and then contact you first! )

What can I say - I'm a little techno delayed  Thanks - Laura

Gail - was just wondering if you'd received my pm? I sent you one with info but then got kicked off right after so wasn't sure if it went through. Let me know if you didn't in regards to SM. Will resend - thanks.

Hey all - was talking to our cabin steward last year on one of my cruises  and he was telling me that the crew had a separate library than the one for the guests. Consequently, they are desparate sometimes for new reading material. Therefore, since I am an avid reader, I usually take a couple of books along and leave them (upon our departure or sooner if the case may be) marked specifically for the crew members. Don't forget to mark them or tell the steward because they may end up in the guest library which crew members are not allowed to use. I know because I found one of my books that I left behind for the crew in the guest library on deck 10.

Also, the girls at the spa told me that they are always dying for the latest gossip magazines, so for those of us women (and men!) out there - if you have any and when your done with them, they may be a nice little gift and can eventually be spread around and help divert boredom.

Another little tip I got from one of the past guests I sailed with was that she usually buys her servers, cabin steward or maitre'd (?) a telephone card which she places in their envelopes in addition to any tips. She said that they really seem to appreciate them as then they can then save $ on phone calls. But buy them before you sail as they are hard to get in ports & don't always work here in the states! ( I know because I bought one from Mexico and couldn't get it to work here)

Also, not that Disney may do it again but those that did the repos remember the BBQ? Well, I took a BBQ plate down to our cabin steward and was genuinely surprised to see some tears spring to his eyes, apparantly, they don't always get the same food as the guests and he really appreciated the food - I got enough for him to share with some friends and as a result, I believe I 'received' an extra gift at the end of the cruise, (I won't say what as I don't want to upset any of those fellow cruisers who didn't get an extra gift - those that sailed can probably guess what it was ) Anyway, Maurice told me that sometimes they get cookies, strips or sometimes they don't. But everytime I left a plate of goodies for him - it disappeared with a note of thanks. Also, I always made sure and checked if any of our servers, stewards and vital importants were getting off in any ports, if they weren't, then I made sure to get them an inexpensive gift s/a a can opener or magnet, etc. On my last cruise, our servers just wanted a post card as they had no room to display trinkets but could always stash a post card. Oh yeah - forgot to mention above - I also gave our servers some extra postage stamps I had. While cruising thru the PC - Disney was able to drop a mail load of Postcards so that they'd be mailed from Panama - I got about 10 extra stamped postcards and gave them out to the servers and some photographers. Really, it was such a small amt but the gratitude I got really, really made my day and cruise!

For those with access to printers while on board, my husband took premade card magnets and as I am an avid photo lover - I snapped shots of employees and made magnets for them. I then went around on the last night delivering them as a surprise gift - for our cabin steward I placed about 5 of them on the door & he picked them up on the morning of disembarkation - he loved them. :sunny: I got the idea from one of the young ladies in the Shutters dept. She was snapping candids of guests during the crossing of the PC and she wanted to take one of me ( as I hate to take pictures - I told her I would only allow it if she let me take one of her) She jumped at the chance and told me that they hardly ever get pictures like that from guests and so Whoala! An idea was born. She was happy. Heck I even took one of the seamstresses while doing a tour of the Walt Disney theatre - I got a huge thank you the next day after the tour. I tell you - I was flying on :cloud9: - Made my day!

Anywho - thems my suggestions if they haven't been made yet - I got my pack of magnets ready for the cruise - however, be warned - keep them away from your credit cards, room keys, arcade cards and electronic equipment as they will erase them. Trust me on that one :confused3 !

Any other suggestions I'd love to hear! Take care all - I'm an all nighter! :happytv:

WELCOME ABOARD~!!!!!!

Are you ready to join the "2nd Ever Mickey Ice Cream Eating Challenge at Sea" :mickeybar ??? Enter one or two (or more) to represent your family honor in this silly side show!!!!! I am "bestowing" AWARD certificates to every honorable participant who finished the race - the award certificates should boast the signature of the Wonders' Captain plus possibly a character or two! AND ... I've just added a "special SURPRISE Award" to the top winners in the two age catagories we have... the under age 15 and the 15+ catagories! :dance3:

Of course... this is "MY" event.... there are others to consider... but none where you are guaranteed a nice refreshing Mickey Bar + a guaranteed prize (while supplies last :confused3 ) signed by the Wonders' Captain if you finish it before everyone leaves the gathering! :lmao: Well... the Captains' signature is NOT assured... but last time I got it without any difficulty under the circumstances of our special DIS event. They are familiar with us DIS enthusiasts on board.... :thumbsup2 ... and as such they were enthusaistic and cooporative with my "special requests". I just could not get a character visit to the ice cream race to "officiate" the challange! RATS! :confused3

At any rate.... WELCOME to gang!

Of course, if you participate you'll have to sign the unofficial liability waiver against potential injury during the Le Mans style sprint to your Mickey Bar - or otherwise choking on the Mickey Bar as you race to inhale ... er, rather, ... dine on it in a speedy fashion! :rotfl2: OK... there really is NO liability waiver - but remember - participate at your own hazard!!!! :rotfl:

OK CaptainCrash I have 2 more for the 2nd ever Mickey Ice Cream Eating Challenge at Sea for you.
15 and under we have Regan. :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc
15 and over you will have Taylor. :cheer2: :bounce: :cheer2: :bounce:
Both parents will be there to cheer on the Kids. :rolleyes1 :wave2:

Thanks Julie

I have to give the official line: I am not a physician. However- everyone should have an update tetnus shot, even if you are not travelling. Every ten years! I think many adults forget this and don't get them because they don't have to provide proof of immunization (like I do) for work. I also recommend if you travel frequently or live in many parts of the United States, that you have the entire Hepatitis A series- which is 2 shots, if I am remembering correctly. If you don't have Hepatitis B, you should get those as well- which is three shots.

However, none of these shots are required to travel where we are going- but are a good idea. If you don't have them & don't want to see your phsician to get them- visit your local health department. They are usually cheaper and should have a weekly vacinnation clinic. (You might also want an MMR booster if you don't have titer to those. If you know what I mean by titer, you probably know if you have it or not. ;) )

I would also remind everyone to bring lots of sunscreen and mosquito repellent if you are going to be running around in the jungle or where the little beasties might decide to bite you.

I posted a CDC link a few pages ago, if you would like I will be happy to post it again or PM it to you.

Back to the books!

DCL isn't very good at including families with little kids for excursions. I'll let you know what I've come up with. I have excursions for almost every island...I just hadn't done anything in Antigua. We also have not booked anything except stuff at CC with DCL- I did initially but then realized that I wouldn't be able to do anything with my sister's family.

More to follow...

Don't forget to check out the list from Elaine and let her know of your final plans:
From post #5

The Excursion List = Mickey&joshnut / Elaine
Wondering, who is going with you? Send your info to Elaine, She is putting this all together for us !

My DS(4) is going with us. We are taking him on the following excursions through DCL: The submarine in St. Thomas, The railroad in St. Kitts, and in Antigua we are trying to go to the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort (non DCL).

I am planning on putting Celeste's CDC link in the newsletter this month as well.

Make sure you call or email in advance, otherwise there is the possiblity that you won't be able to go to the resort. We are not going there- as we are doing a beach day in St. Kitts. I may have an opportunity for Antigua- I'll post later, I'm waiting for pricing...

Tink you old camera hound you, What show????

Tag was kinda fun, we could do it again. I have forgotten all the rules.

Laura, KEWL score on the mix stick. Congrats on all that reading, quite the novel huh!!! Great ideas for crew gifts.

I also am not a doctor, but have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and highly concur with Celeste’s Post. I know what a titer is. :teeth:

Extreme Makeovers Home Edition is in town building a home for a firefighter and his wife. She was paralyzed when her home collapsed during a tornado while shielding her children. There were over 70,000 signatures from here and worldwide to get the show to come and help her. Here is a link to the local paper with the story. AMY

Celeste, Yes I do. Those were the days of old EMT work when we did not wear gloves. (The standard of Strength of a volumetric test solution; the assay value of an unknown measure by volumetric means.) :thumbsup2 :sunny:

Mike great link and that is a neat story about the firefighter.
