September 13, 2014 7 Night Fantasy Cruise

...to introduce our family. Wow, that is so unlike me :)

We booked our cruise sometime last year and I just realized today that I hadn't jumped on to DisBoards yet. Our traveling party will consist of myself and DH in one stateroom, and my DS (7 y.o.) and MIL in an adjoining cabin.

This will be our 2nd time on the Fantasy and we are so looking forward to this vacation. I just requested to join the FB page and am hoping to participate in the FE as well.

I haven't had a chance to read all of the posts here but I will this weekend so I can catch up. Hopefully there are a few others kiddos in the group that DS can meet once we're on board and buddy around with in the kids club. We did that on our first cruise and it worked out great for both families.

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone!
Karyn

Welcome!
My boys will be 9 and 4 when we sail, they're looking forward to making new friends:)

So, my oldest son often uses my FB page to play games and he looks at pics, etc...so I cannot post this info there.....but I am so excited and I want to share!

A little background: This is our very first Disney cruise. My DH and I have cruised other lines before, and took our oldest son on a Princess cruise when he was 1. Other than that, it's a first cruise for our boys.

We are traveling with my parents (they've cruised many others- actually, they are leaving on Carnival tomorrow) and our close friends with their new baby that will be 6 months old -they're first cruise EVER!!!

Now the exciting part:

My kids think we are staying one night at POP resort near WDW the night before the cruise and that we might check out DTD that eve.

We have never been to WDW and my older son knows how expensive this cruise and airfare is...so he knows why we can't go to WDW and the cruise....

BUT, I just can't NOT go to WDW!

So, we are flying in on the 9th, and going to spend 3 days before the cruise
(and the Saturday we come back) going to the WDW parks!!!!!

AND yesterday I got us free dining!
AND I plan to get tickets to MNSSHP for the Friday night before our cruise!

This is TRULY a once in a lifetime vacation for us and I am so excited!!!

So, I haven't totally decided when I plan to let the boys know the secret surprise....maybe not until we get to Orlando......my older son might get suspicious when he doesn't go to school that Tuesday......but I will definitely video it!!!!

I can't wait for September!!!

Now, to get to work on those FE and FE gifts........

Sorry for the long post:)

Angela

I see that the Pirate Party is scheduled for Wed, does anyone know when they are celebrating "Halloween"? :3dglasses

Sorry, Janice. I don't know. I just popped in to say hi to anyone who was here.

So,hi! :wave2:

Did you join the Facebook group yet? It seems to be focused on FE discussions. I don't really have anything to ask or add, so I don't post much there.

I did join, but I don't get there too much. . . they don't let me at work. . . I don't know why. . . :confused3

I just booked our Palo meals, massages and excursions !!!

That's great! I wish we could get our bookings out of the way, but this is only Disney cruise #5 for us, so we'll have to wait a month. Considering I just spent a chunk of our on-board budget on the cat's vet bill this morning, a wait is a good thing, got to let the money tree sprout a few new leaves.

I am so looking forward to brunch at Palo! It's my favorite meal of the cruise. I like having dinner there, but we only booked one room (oldest ds isn't going to be able to come with us), and brunch wins. Do you know if the restaurant still maintains a waiting list? I wouldn't be upset if we can't get a reservation for dinner, but it's worth getting on the waiting list if there is one.

This is cruise #4 for my DH and myself. Up until now we have always had family with us but my daughter and her boyfriend who cruised with us last September and had booked to travel with us this time have other commitments with University and jobs and other things, so they have moved their cruise till next year.
We might try and book palos. Do you know if the price is the same for brunch and dinner? Plus as we are limited on luggage space and weight do men have to wear a suit with jacket or can they get away with shirt and tie?
One last question, if we can book 90 days out from the cruise, is this time from midnight? I'm from the UK and I know that there is a 5 hour difference from Florida but if we can book from midnight. Which midnight In the US would it be? Hope this makes sense.

It is the same price for brunch and dinner, $25.00. Men don't have to wear a jacket. I noticed that many men (including my Dh) wear a jacket to dinner but not to brunch.

Also, at the brunch you will see men in polo shirts - no shorts, "sandals", capris or jeans are allowed . . . however, we have worn sandals with no issues :thumbsup2

I get to book ours next weekend and i can't wait this is our First cruise sailing after going Gold.

It only lasts about an hour, but it is fun! The officers will walk around and stop to talk to each table. They will also open the floor up to questions/comments. . .

:surfweb: What would you do? Dh has enough Marriott rewards for us to book our pre-cruise hotel room at the Fairfield Inn, a category 3, for 15,000 points in Titusville. But, if I transfer my points to his account, we will have enough points to book the Residence Inn, category 6, for 30,000 points, in Cocoa Beach. We've stayed there a couple times. It was very nice. Both places offer free hot breakfast buffet and free internet. The Fairfield offers the 40% off coupon for the port parking lot. I'm not sure about the Residence Inn. In the past, we left the car at the hotel and took the hotel shuttle. Either way, we're parking at the port.
