Mark's going to phone tomorrow and check as it seems we may have enough airmiles for a couple of flights if we just buy a few more miles! That would be great and mean we could book the flights next weekend! That means we would almost definately be going (see my cunning plan)

A wonderful cunning plan!

I just consider myself an Ambassador of sorts. And now that Alastair Cook is gone, I feel I own it to my countrymen to explain the mysterious customs and ways of the British.

I would hate for one of my countrymen to for example, find themselves stuck in a lift with the Queen, or, need to make a speech in parliament and through no fault of their own, make a terrible faux pas.

Perhaps now that I've covered pumpkins, maybe I should move on to British culture and customs as they relate to soft furnishings.

Just leave out.....the COMFY CHAIR!




I ususally don't think about flights for the trip this early, as I fly SW Airlines and the dates aren't released yet. Also need to see if siblings are wanting to stay one night at WDW/Orlando and flying home on Sunday instead. I like the idea of having Sunday at home to regroup before returning to work BUT an extended day of play, or a visit to Epcot or something might be fun too.

I think it's official, our British cruisemates have knighted Sir Ian!

The British love their soft furnishings. They have a deep respect and appreciation for rare and exotic fabrics, such as Draylon, which was first imported into Great Britain from the far east by Messrs Wool & Worth in the early 19th century.

It is customary when visiting a home in Britain, to take a moment to admire the soft furnishings of one's hostess.

Many British hostesses will take great flattery.

If one every finds oneself in Buckingham Palace or Windsor, one should not fail to remark on her Majesty's soft furnishings, by saying, "Your Highness, I believe I have never seen such naff cushions in my life, Marm!"

Naff being the highest form of compliment one can pay to towards one's host's furnishings.

I hope this lesson, is of benefit to my fellow countrymen and helps to avoid, what could be awkward moments during their visit to our British cousins.

They taste like.....sweet gummy? But they have two different textures. The "yolk" is more firm and swedish-fish like, and the "white" is soft and fluffy and more...err.....well, I can't really compare it to anything.

Everyone over there thought I was nuts for loving them so much.

Judi Dench was at my graduation ceremony! She got some kind of honorary degree, I forget what it was. I just remember thinking "hey, that lady looks like the lady from James Bond" I was THIS CLOSE to her. Back tonight from a very soggy day spent in Bristol where I went to see my daughter for the day. As she's now at University it was the first time I'd seen her for 4 weeks.........and I MISS HER SO MUCH!
