September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

To all of you leaving early, have fun! Pixie dust that the weather is perfect for you.

Garry, pixie dust for your surgery.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you usually tip for spa treatments? I never really have a good idea of how much to tip. I'm having a manicure, pedicure and cabana massage done. Recommendations? Thanks!!!

I can't help you with the tips but I know it is difficult trying to figure it out. You always feel so uneasy, at least I do.

My understanding was that it was approx 15-20%

Ahh, here you are!...

Beauty salons. Salon and spa tipping should generally be the same as restaurant tipping -- 15 to 20 percent. However, if you go to a high-end salon where there is a separate shampooist, it is customary to tip the shampooist a few dollars as well. If several people assist you at the salon or spa, you should leave a separate tip for each person (the stylist, the masseuse, the manicurist, etc.).

Au reservoir all. Next stop WDW.

(Still can't believe we were up before 3:30 a.m.)

GOOD MORNIN ALL

Does anyone know if the height requirement for the kids water slide is strict? Is there a lifeguard there measuring each kid? My son is just an inch shorter than the ht requirement and he is going to be so upset if he's not able to use the water slide.

I know there is a life guard there, but I don't know how strict they are on enforcing the height requirement.

In my general Disney experience, they stick to the heights. (DS passed height requirement to Space Mountain at the entrance, lined up but when we actually got to the cars, they decided that he was not tall enough. One unhappy kid! We got him on later though!)

From the 2 times I've been on the Magic, I have never seeing anyone checking each child. Give your son a mohawk and he should be good to go! I am sure the height requirement is just a ball park number.

Ok, so... how much info do I need to give? I know you guys give specific codes to your family members, but I'll be plain.
My wife Lori (34), daughter Caitlyn (4), son Michael (2), daughter Claire (1) and myself (33) are going to spoil all your fun aboard the cruise ship! My kids are going to totally destroy everything in their path... they are worse than a hurricane!!! So, if you see a 2 adults chasing 3 kids, please stop to help us! :)
We are going with another great family of 5 who have children of the same age.
I am an engineer in Lake Mary and my wife stays home to care for the little ones and the mess I make when I get home from work.
This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. We went in 2003 to the Eastern with St. Marteen and St. Thomas, then in 2005 to the Western. Every time, we have gone with the family that is coming with us and every time, we have had one more child each :)

To all of you who are coming to Orlando early, I hope you have a good trip and stay. If you need something, WDW is a 45 min ride.

PS: Oh, we are on deck 5... don't remember the number, but they are the inside cabins that are sideways.

I don't want to pay the xtra $10 per person (that'd be $40 each way for my family). I hope we get a low B boarding group or that we get to board as a family as my son is 4. I plan on checking in at the 24 hr mark so keeping my fingers crossed that Chicagoans don't want to pay the extra. Have fun at WDW "playing" with your friends. Don't get too worn out at your slumber party that you have to rest on the ship. We want to play too! ;)

DH read on SW's website that families with children 4 and under get to board between goup A and B. I sure hope so 'cause we have (3) 4 and under and need to sit together!

Does anyone know how I can save on parking at Port Canaveral? It's $15 a day!

Get a friend to drop you off and pick you up.
Stay overnight at a hotel that has 'free' parking for the cruise.(Might cost more)
Taxi. Probably cost more.
2x one way car rental.

Having your own car in the port car park just opposite is just so convenient though - worth something I think.
