September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Has anyone received their cruise docs yet? My DH and I just moved from Central Florida to MAINE and everything's been turned upside down for the past few months. I called DCL a week or so ago to make sure they were sending my cruise docs to my new address (I changed my info online over a month ago) and they still had my Florida address as the primary address. They told me that I should be receiving my docs any day, and I still haven't seen them :confused3:confused3 Just wondering in anyone else has gotten theirs?

we have not gotten ours yet.
this is our first cruise, but it seems the computers when you call disney world are never updated with the newest info...no matter how many times you call to fix it. i always check b/c i want to make sure i receive pins.

Was just reading a post from someone on the Magic right now and their Tortola itinerary has changed to a Western due to storms. Looks like they may get a double dip at Castaway Cay. :thumbsup2 They stopped there first, then are doing Cozumel and Grand Caymen (maybe not that order) and Friday will be a 'surprise'. I'm sure the captain is hoping for that second stop at Castaway Cay...if not it will be Key West.

Guess we'd better look over those Western excursions just in case. I really hope your Angel is looking out for us. I really wanted to see Tortola. Here's "Wishing upon a star!". :wizard:

Speaking of tequila....look what's happening at Epcot!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I forgot to post about this yesterday... while I love a prinkly pear margarita - I really try and stay away from Tequila - it does strange things to me... or should I clarify by staying I behave strangely when I drink it...:scared1:

P.S. Got my Magical Express docs in the mail last week - just thought I'd mention that... :dance3::yay::woohoo:

We still have plenty of time for those storms to do their thing and get the heck out of dodge. I love double dipping at Castaway Cay - but NOT this trip... I want to visit St. Thomas and Tortola for sure... here that ANGEL????? We all want the itinerary we chose... please dear little Angel... (ok, :littleangel: says...)

Bill should be long gone for us (and it looks as though it should not directly affect the caribbean). Fingers crossed that none of his friends come out to party!

I hold comfort in the knowledge that it is officially and El Nino year and that has the effect of making a light year for hurricanes on the East Coast. (However I anticipate a little more winter rain than usual for us over on the West Coast - but boy, do we need it, so I don't mind!)

does anyone have experience with getting a taxi in st. thomas?

. . . to the courthouse . . . then back to the courthouse and back to the ship. Our wedding . . .

Your slumlord will be glad to hear that!

I know that's why I finally wrote myself a note to post that info!!!

The above link is a live cam from St. Thomas so we can watch the current process of Bill - right now - not bothering the area at all 12 mph winds only - thought that might put some folks at ease. Bill will miss that area - as the path is heading north - or should I say PROJECTED path... and Kay is right - let's just hope none of his little friends decide to kick up their heals!

Lordy! Lordy! What :confused3 have I gotten myself into? Guess I never thought  about gift tags. Do all of you do that? What do you put on them? Just your name? Is there a Disney site where I can find them to print? Do you wrap the gifts also? HELP!!!

Joanie

Don't worry. My gifts will not be wrapped nor gift tagged. Just do what you feel you would like to do. It is all fun!!!

SHHHHHHHHH :ssst::ssst::ssst:

You're going to wake Marilyn...

Morning Marilyn... :wave2:

Didn;t have time to come on here this morning as off straight away to visit John's mum. All ok, just tired from the 9 hours total travelling and 3 hours there!!

Add another 2 points for the shot of rum, total 5 points. Sounds totally worth it to me!

Give over points man!! Do you point everything at the dining room table??? I would be feeling so very guilty all the time.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Our first cruise (western) was in Sept 2005 which turned out to be the most active hurricane season in recorded history. I remember watching the weather channel for days before we were to fly down. Hurricane Ophelia was just forming off the coast of Port Canaveral and it stalled there for days. There was speculation that we'd have to change our flight in case the ship had to move down to Ft. Lauderdale and sail out of there instead. Thankfully, she started to head north the day before we flew down.

We ended up having spectacular weather the whole week and I remembed thinking after the fact how fortunate we were. The passengers that were ready to board the following Saturday for their eastern itinerary, however, were not so lucky. They had to divert to a western to avoid Hurricane Rita which began to form at the end of our week. Rita eventually became a Cat 5 storm and made landfall in Texas.

And Hurricane Wilma (another Cat 5) made landfall over Cozumel five weeks after we were there destroying the piers.

So even though I'm a little nervous about the weather next month, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances of having perfect weather. :goodvibes

While I would be disappointed if we couldn't get to Tortola, I would be up for a mystery cruise! A double dip would be fun, too. This cruise (for us) will be all about relaxation and not scurrying around like usual. Can't wait....no pictures taken by Shutters, possibly no formal, no rushing to see shows since we have seen them so many times, etc. I can't give up Dreams however.

No.. No.. No.. I don't want to do another Western cause of storms :guilty:

I realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly want to go to Tortola :worship: please please please

Just Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee do NOT send us to Nassau :wizard:

If we go to Nassau, I won't even be getting off the ship.

Me Neither.. I can't stand Nassau anymore and the last 2 times we couldn't go to one of the Islands we were suppose to go we ended up at Nassau
