WELCOME TO THE WEEKEND!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAY.....I see you're doing the celebration dance....hope you have some cake too!!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks.

DH actually (and I am shocked) bought me a cake!

Quiet night tonight. Pizza (pizza dough is rising as we speak), movie, family time, maybe a touch of Singstar (karaoke at home). Oh and perhaps a wee drink or two!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I only work a few hours tomorrow morning, then it's back over to the hospital for a little more cut and paste. Thankfully my doctor rearranged his surgery schedule so we could get this done quickly and I'll have two weeks for the stiches to get a'healing before I head on out to Florida. :thumbsup2 A suspicious spot turned up pretty quickly and we didn't want to wait over four weeks to deal with it.

Looks like there's a little group of us that will be doing some healing on this cruise. :grouphug:

.

I just heard from Jackie, who would like to let folks who might be wondering that she is fine, spending the night at Peggy's.

I think our Jackie is going to be taking it easy this weekend.

But net, net, are gal is A-OK.

Wow this is the first time I have noticed a cruise section on this forum.Anyway me and my family are also going on this cruise and we cant wait. You should have seen us when our tickets arrived today:laughing:

Hey, everybody just booked today. Can't wait!!
.
:boat: WELCOME ABOARD :sail:

I have added you to page 1 post 2. Check the info others have shared and if you want to share anything, post it here or PM it to me and I will add it there.

You may have noticed it was wrong for a while, I am sorry, I added you using my Blackberry and when I realized I had written the wrong city I could not fix it because I ran out of battery. I had to wait until I got back to the motel and charged this thing. Fixed it now!

If you have any questions about the cruise or activities--ask
Jan

Oh Vicki, I so know what you are feeling. I have no problem leaving Angel, but I was destroyed leaving Gandalf. He had Epilepsy. Until we found the right combo of medications, he had so many seizures. I held him and logged them and timed every single one of them. When he had very long ones, past ten minutes, I would grab the rubbing alcohol and douse his paws in it to bring down his temperature and put bags of ice on his belly. It was so hard for me to leave him in the care of the kid and go on vacation. I was his mommy and he was sick and I felt that I had to be with him and take care of him. After each seizure I would sit up with him, most times all night, because he was so disoriented and kept bumping into things.

I went on vacations, but I couldn't think about Gandalf at all because if I did I would burst out in tears. It was so hard to leave him. So I fully empathize with you. I know exactly what you are going through with Katie. Hugs.

I know how you feel as well. We had a special needs cat. He had acromegaly (too much growth hormone) which caused enlarged organs and skeleton, and uncontrolled diabetes. We had to check his blood sugar twice a day to decide how much insulin he would get. We couldn't go away even overnight without a stay at the vet for him (and he didn't like to travel), so we didn't go away much. Being on the cruise is harder, because you're not very reachable in case of problems.

He had a much longer (and still enjoyable) life than predicted. The staff at the vet's office loved him. We'd walk in and they would ask us about Pepper, and when we were going away again. They spoiled him rotten. He passed away last December, while we were at Boardwalk. His enlarged heart finally gave out. The staff at the vet was as upset as we were.

Anyway, we had to keep telling ourselves that we deserved a life, too. We made the best (and probably most expensive) choices to keep our furbabies safe when we went away (the vet for Pepper, a professional petsitter for Smokey), and enjoyed our time away from home and work.

It sounds like you've made an excellent choice of caregivers for your dogs. Now just get ready for a great cruise.

Kathy

Thanks Deb,
Actually i forgot to mention that Kathie also has seizures, but they seem to be in control. She and Allie are truely the sweetest girls, they love everyone. I don't have any kids, so they really are my children.
I forgor to mention that my concern has been worsened by the fact that one of my good friends (has 4 dogs and 2 young kids, not sure if she likes the kids as much as the dogs or not :rolleyes1;) She and her DH went to beach a couple of weeks ago and her dog died while she was gone:sad1::sad2: SO SAD!!! Then a friend that I have known forever lost one of her chihuahuas (sp)4 nights ago. I would be devastated for them at any time, but esp. now!!!!

Kathy,
Yes, I have a wonderful vet that has been taking care of our pets for about 30 years-I trust him explicitly. I would love to leave the girls at the vet where he would be close by (he LOVES Katie, and Allie, but esp. Katie), but all they have is basically a cage, and I would not ever leave them in even a big cage for 3 weeks. I know they take them out, but they would be so sad. The B & B we take them too has a huge "suite" that they stay in which has a door that can be raised and then they have their own private patio area that has very tall chain linked walls if they want to sun. The staff take them outside freq. and in the summer they have a small pool to play in. The owner e-mails us pictures, and will keep in touch. So I will just pray hard and try to have fun.

Thanks for everyone's understanding  Vicki

Today is a BIG day.

First of all, I am preparing to release a new version of Mouse Manager sometime this weekend. It has taken me MONTHS, but it has the new DVC resorts and the hardest part, the complete reallocation of points that DVC did starting 2010.

I hope to announce it tomorrow (perhaps) on the DIS Mousellaneous board and then start sending out press releases.

But even MORE important is that today starts the Gathering of the Electronics. It is the coming together of all the batteries and cables.

I also start the official Draining and Recharging of the batteries for the still cameras. I have an excellent battery charger that first drains the batteries completely and then recharges them. I subsequently get amazing battery life.

We also start the Staging of the Luggage, our luggage will move out of our basement storage locker and into our bedroom (a whole 15 feet).

So, big day and big weekend at Eastwood Manor.

Hi Tortolains and welcome PecoBill!

Thanks Ian for posting my well-being!

I fell asleep in pre-op wating on the doctor and I've pretty much slept since Jose brought me home. And now...well, let's just say the vicoden is working! Only a couple of stiches since we only had to do a biopsy (YEAH!) and the doctor said he gave me the Walt Disney World special so I should be good to go for anything except the most jerkey of rides (so no Dinosaur or Star Tours I guess).

I'll check in later, don't want to sit for too long at one time just yet. :upsidedow

.Edited to add: as I sit her at Peg's computer I notice a little white package from Celebration FL....I wonder what that is? hehe I wonder if there will be one at my house??

.

Hi Jackie. Nice to see you back in the land of the living - well almost as I bet you will be asleep before too long!!! Glad things went well and you are set to go!

Wishing you a quick recovery.

Well our documents arrived yesterday evening after 7PM.

That's what happens when you like in the boondocks. If you lived in a big metropolitan area like Prescott, AZ you would have gotten your docs last Tuesday like I did!:rotfl2::lmao:

I wanted to order one of those battery conditioners before the trip and I forgot. I wonder if it's too late? I wonder if I still have your email with the link? I'd better check.

Hi Jackie,
Glad to hear you're doing well. Take care this weekend! :thumbsup2

And while you're at it, could you order up just a moderately hot (instead of scorchingly hot) day, since I'm coming down there later? I want to see my nephew before we leave on our big adventure. Just an overnight...got to get back home to go to the movies tomorrow. Going to see "Moon"...has anyone see it?

Have a nice weekend, everyone!:goodvibes
