Hi everyone! Welcome to all the newcomer's :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Jan, glad you had a nice weekend at your neice's Christening :cutie:

Hi Jackie! Sounds like you are doing LOTS of reading! I think you're right, this thread will pick up as we get closer to final payment day. That always makes it seem so much more real, when it hits the pocketbook!

I've been nursing a sore back, and planning for my May trip to WDW and now I've just added another vacation to plan for before this cruise. I'm going to go to Alberta to visit my son in Aug. We'll spend a few days in Banff and a couple in Jasper. It will be my first trip out west so I'm super excited!

Our thread has been a little slow lately, but I'm guessing things will pick up as we get closer to final payment day. Lot's of decisions to be made regarding excursions and the like. Several of our DIS cruise-mates have April/May vacations also, so they are a little focused on that right now.;)

I haven't posted much lately, as I've had my nose in one book or another for the past couple of weeks. Finished two big ones....World Without End and the 7th Harry Potter. Then read the entire eight book Sookie Stackhouse series. The HBO series "True Blood" is based on these books, so now I'm waiting for that to come out on DVD (in May) so I can check it out.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, the weather is glorious here in the Valley of the Sun! :sunny:

.

Jackie: I have read the Sookie Stackhouse books too! Love them. I am waiting on the last one to come out in paperback. True Blood is pretty good as well, differs from the book quite a bit but still worth watching.

That sounds good... so how long until you get to go see Sophie again???

We are going for Easter and then I am staying a couple extra days since her Mom has a business trip. I bet you know they really twisted my arm on that one :rotfl2:

Actually I offered and they graciously accepted.

I haven't been around in ages, really crazy busy with the four kids.

I'll try to catch up on this thread to see what's going on.

The kids still don't know we're cruising Disney. They think we're doing the Carnival that leaves from Port Canaveral the same day. Hopefully we can keep the secret until we pull into port.

Julie

I have added you to page 1 post 1 and updated the info as per your PM.

:boat: WELCOME ABOARD!! :sail:

Hi All:

This is my first post in a couple of years (since our last cruise 3 years ago). Don't know why, but I was nervous about posting. My DH (Steve) and DD (2)(Chloe) will be on the 9/12 Tortola cruise, and just wanted to come over and introduce ourselves. This is our 3rd Disney cruise. We are from Charlotte, NC, and are so excited as this will be our daughter's first cruise, although not her first travel experience. We adopted her from Vietnam last year, so she has more frequent flyer miles at 2 than many adults that I know. We also took her to WDW last September. Looking forward to getting to know everyone, and seeing you all onboard. We are in cabin #8060. Kristen

:boat: WELCOME ABOARD :sail:
I have posted your info on page 1 post 1. Please check and make sure it is right. You are listed in alphabetical order by DIS name and the * means we know you are coming.

If you want to add a photo here I will move it to page 1 post 2.

Info about the islands and events this DIS group is planning is all listed on post 1. If you have any questions ask. This is a pretty comfortable and laid back group. I have been on cruises with frantic DISers and with blase' DISers and this is a comfortable middle. You may participate in the activities you like and ignore the rest. Some of us know each other from past cruises and there is a little gaggle of us that went on the Westbound Panama Canal cruise last May.

Hi my DH, DS (4) and DD (will be 14 months then) are going on this cruise. We just bought DVC and are using points for this. This is our first time on DCL. DH and I were married on a princess cruise so we are big cruising fans. My mom and dad are going with us too. We are in adjoining rooms on deck 2 but can't remember the number. Are interested in knowing more about FE. Working on our magnets already. I am really loving these boards. My husband says I'm obsessed!!! Please add us to the list our last name is Hodges. I was going to put a picture but no sure how to do it.

:sail: WELCOME ABOARD :boat:
See info about about page 1 post 1.
Do you know how to post a picture on the thread? If so, post it in an entry and I will move it. If not, you need a photo hosting site, like Photobucket and the instructions there are pretty good. Give it a try and if you are confused, ask questions here.

I couldn't wait for the paperback (even though it's due out in just a few weeks) and went to the library to get #8. The ninth book also gets released fairly soon (somewhere over the next few months I think) and I got put on the wait-list at the library...38 people ahead of me! :lmao:

I've seen bits of True Blood on youtube and the season one DVD comes out in mid-May, so I'll probaably rent that and take a look. From what I saw they follow book one through the first season with lots of added stuff to flesh out some of the other characters. Not sure how I'll feel about that when I watch it. ;)

"Dead and Gone," book 9, is being released in May. Here is the first chapter of the book:

We are going to do the fish extenders on this cruise. I had a couple questions, though. I was reading a post on the main board about someone buying a big box of trail mix and seperating it into smaller bags. Is this allowed? Goodness, I don't mean to sound ungrateful or snobbish, but I would be so hesitant to give my children opened food like that from someone or some place I don't know. KWIM...

Also, where would I purchase the fish extenders? Would I purchase or make one with 5 pockets because there are 5 of us? Are we given the total number of adults and children before the cruise so that we can plan accordingly? It sounds like so much fun and I am so excited for the kids....I think they will get such a kick out of finding things at their door each day....

We have main dining...I don't think I mentioned that before....

Thanks for humoring me...this is our first Disney cruise!!!

Ali, I have received FE gifts that were treats people had to re-package. One cruise someone had customized M&M's for us that they put in little tulle bags (kind of like a wedding or bridal shower party favor). You would have to determine if you felt comfortable consuming a gift like that. And technically, people aren't supposed to bring that type of thing aboard the ship (thinkgs not in original packaging). A friend and I did a similar treat bag once, but we brought the packaged supplies on the ship and then built the individual gift bags once we met up on the ship.

You don't need a five pocket FE....some folks even use a gift bag or decorated tote-type bag for the FEs. Some of the gifts you receive might be a 'stateroom' gift or something just for the kids, so each person doesn't really need their own 'pocket'.

I'm still mulling over what my FE gift will be and I think little sister is going to participate, so we may go together on something fun. She's advised me we can start planning this trip AFTER her big project at work, which will be mid-April. I'm getting very anxious to get the family involved in this trip! ::yes::

.

Oh, and yes, everyone participating will be given a list of cabins and adults/children participating, so you can determine quantities required for your FE gift.

The FE I have was made by a cruise-mate and then I decorated it myself. You can find them for sale on e-bay, actually listed under "Fish Extenders"...DISers are everywhere! :lmao:

Sister Peg will need to create one, so that's a project we will probably do together, though I'm betting she will go with the one-pouch/bag option. During the holidays, people used Christmas stockings as FEs also and I had a friend who talked about making a 'pirate boot' stocking for a FE.

.

Good morning. This was the last thread on Page 2, so about to go onto Page 3!!!

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES should be opening Sept dates in two weeks (the 14th), although I'll probably start checking every day now! :lmao:

Plus the first Tortola cruise is this month. That thread isn't super active, but I think we'll be grilling those folks when they get back. ::yes::

.

I'm happy to announce dh has returned from Afghanistan after a really long year. So now we're all here and ready to plan.
