September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

I think I am getting an icky cold. Gross! But at least it's now and not next week!!!!!!!!! I should be all better by the time the horn sounds and I have down my first pina colada!

oh yea 2 more days for us, till we get to Saratoga Springs :)

fltink - i'm wearing my official alan jackson "5 o'clock somewhere" tshirt as i write this message and packing stuff for the trip. can you tell i'm in the mood for the magic? i know it'll be five o'clock somewhere all the time on that ship! can't believe you can start the day with a mimosa! i'll definitely have to contain myself, i've got a 3 drinks per day budget!

***

all that's been going on nationally has weighed heavy on my mind lately while i am simultaneously preparing to have fun. seems sad. but then the more i think about it, the truth is that we can all help and donate money but we also have to go on with our regular lives. the worst thing for this country right now would be to send us into an economic tailspin and back into another recession if we all just stopped what we were doing. so we have to keep the gears moving while picking up the pieces. :guilty:

as mickey says: see ya real soon!
:earboy2: stina

Now, Stina.....that three drink a day limit of yours.....what about the drink of the day??? Those are always on sale. Are your rules flexible for those???? Oh! And don't forget two for one Margaritas o the night we are in Cozumel. And 2 fo one Martini Night at the Promenade Lounge. OH!!!!! And two for one DRINK night on the last night! Looks like some options just opened up for you! Hey, it IS always five o'clock somewhere!

Hey guys! Glad to hear I've got some people to drink with! And of course, we all know Donnica will join in as well! :) By the way, Donnica, I love your way of counting days!

I only have 3 more days of work left...Monday, Tuesday, Friday. Crazy me, I volunteered to work Monday to do some of the work for a fellow Dis cruiser who is on the Magic right now.

Then I have 2 nights of class. Unfortunately, I have a Friday night class. I'm a "night before" packer, so that puts a damper on my typical packing method! Just might have to pack 2 days before! YIKES! :)

By the way, I hope nobody minds that I'm not going to be really "formal" on formal night. I just can't afford to go buy a formal dress, so I'm wearing a nice flowery one that I wear to work. Maybe throw some jewelry on to dress it up. I know most of you are putting lots of effort into dressing up, so I just wanted to apologize in advance!

Who cares!!! We are all there to have a good time!!! As long as you are comfy and on the Magic it will be A okay!!! I can not wait!!! :Pinkbounc

Thanks, DebbiChelsea! I feel the same way, but just wanted to make sure others agreed! :)

Fltink: I'll probably be bringing my computer to keep up on schoolwork, but haven't decided yet whether I'll be paying for internet. I'm about 80% sure I will, but I don't want to guarantee it. But if I do, I can do the daily reports. However, they won't be too exciting, as we're only doing a couple of excursion. By the way---I hope you feel better before the cruise! :)

Thanks bunches, Holly! I'm going to get myself on some Zinc right away. That Coldeeze works like magic.

I don't think you're going to be the only one! I hate suits and am just waering a nice pair of pant and shirt and tie. My DW is wearing about the same on a dress. I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh Holly it warms my heart that you already know me. LOL Sure I'll be there with you when you need a friend <to drink with> I hear that my two cabin mates aren't any strangers when it comes to that either. FLTink and her intended will be on either side of me I'm sure, until one of us falls off the stool. lol Now... Stina... you have a maximum daily currency output I hear. I noted that FLTink gave you a number of options, she's so good like that... but do you have a maximum daily drink intake? I mean should someone buy you a drink that doesn't take from the currency output but does up the alcohol intake, is that acceptable? Inquiring minds want to know.

Here is where I impress you all... you ready? I HAVE taken every last thing out of my closet! Mmmm hmmm up I did it! I think my new cat (of two months) is a little taken aback by the mounds of clothes that have now over taken my entire room. Although she has found the pile of hangers on the floor to be quite amusing and a challenge each and EVERY time she finds the need to walk through it! :paw: I have been able to find some of the shorts that I couldn't find for my last cruise so it's almost like having half a new wardrobe lol I have a suit I can wear for formal night but what in the bloody hell is semi-formal? I am used to "smart casual" and formal on cruises. Which for me has been dress pants and a shirt or something of that natural any night other then formal night. But this cruise has casual, semi-formal and formal. I'm soooooooo confused :confused3 in relation to what I own to bring on the cruise. I mean I'm a jeans, sneakers and a tee shirt person. I kick it up a couple of notches on a cruise so people don't talk about me. LOL I give them plenty of other reasons to do that! :rotfl:

The pirate clothes... that is another situation all together. I only have how many more day to figure this one out? <this is here I calculate like others to to make it seem like I have MORE time to get something done> It's all in the perception lol!

Are we there yet!!!!!!

Donnica, after this cruise, I'm sure going to miss your hilarious posts! I always laugh out loud when reading them! :) Especially reading about your new cat's confusion about the piles of clothes and hangers! I can just picture it in my head. My mom always had a bunch of cats around when I lived with her, and its funny how they all have their own temperament and personality. I just love 'em!

drink budgets...

gee you just blew my mind with all that 2 for 1 news! heck, i am not opposed to consuming more than 3 drinks a day, just paying for them. i'm sure it'll be cool though, it'll all balance out in the end. doing a general budget of what i wanted to spend money on during the trip really helped me save for it. but i won't hold myself to it if things get really wild, i'll be along for the ride. 2 for 1 margarita night sounds right up my alley. ;)

we were packing our stuff today and our 13 year cat gets totally pissed when she knows we're going away. she gets really possessive, sometimes gets in the suitcases and has definitely laid all over and "furred up" the clothes we've laid out. i tell you, kitties are HIGH MAINTENANCE! donnica: your 2 month old little kitten must be adorable. kittens are so much fun.

fltink: i do hope you feel better. don't let that cold get to you. elderberry always works well for me. it's just our changing weather up here in Mass. fall is definitely setting in, can you feel it? it'll be weird to go to the tropics then back to fall.

ok, happy thought for today, about a week from now we'll be strolling through key west, or enjoying our various excursions and some of us ;) will be getting ready to get married! :love2: these are very happy thoughts...

::MinnieMo stina

:wave2: :hourglass My packing is almost completed, will be done soon. I just had to see what was going on. Hey don't stress out over the pirate thing. It is as easy as a white shirt, pair of black pants and a bandana( which they gave us last time). I also bought the glo stick bracelets and necklaces which I think would be fun since it will be outside. Did anyone hear anything else about the stingray excursion at CC?

On the Disney Cruise Web-site, there's documents to print and fill out for our cruise. One of them is the medical release form. Does our doctor have to fill out the part on the back. No medical form came with our cruise documents and was wondering if anyone had any idea if this needs filled out? Thanks for the help, this is DW and mine's first cruise.

<taking a bow>
The closet it DONE! You can hold back your applause until I see you in person. I have some clothes in the dryer now and then I should be ready to at least group my clothes together and see what is what.

Stina... have no fear BOTH my cats laid all over the clothes on the bed... on the floor... anywhere they could find them. One of my cats, Squiggles, has a suitcase fetish but I haven't as yet taken that out to really drive him wild. Misha, the new cat isn't a kitten. She is about a year and a half old. I rescued her from the cages of the shelter. I just love kittens and would loved to have had one but seeing these older faces looking at you just screaming out... pick me! pick me! :cat: How could I resist one of them? She is a Torti and they have always been my favorite so I was DONE! I am also glad to hear of the flexability on the drink consumption... now I won't hear the kids calling out.. your muddah dah alcoholiccccc... oh wait... I don't have kids! Phewwwww

Holly... you mean we won't have a post cruise thread? I just drop off the face of the earth after this? Nobody told me this when I signed up! How will I handle the rejection? I might start drinking... oh wait... I already do that.

As far as I've heard, the stingray excursion did take place but I haven't heard anything else. The folks that got to do it are still in disney. All I know is that there's a ship out there on the big blue sea that is on it's way to pick us up next!

Don't worry, Donnica....I'm sure most of us will keep in touch afterwards!!! :)

Well, I have washed every last stitch of clothing in the house so that I have a "clean slate" to start with as I pack. I am trying to limit us to one checked bag and one carry on each --- but I think I might not make my goal there. I have resigned myself to the fact that there just isn't going to be any getting around doing some laundry on this cruise . . . traveling with an 8 month old with bad reflux, and I just can't pack 2-3 outfits a day for him (and me).

Question . . . can my DD4 bring a plastic sword for pirate night? Any rule against toy weapons? I can understand if there IS a rule, but I know she'd like to bring it.

So . . . off to work on packing some more.

Kristin
