Sept with 9 month old or Jan with 13 month old????

Another vote for wait and see on the nursing (if you are open to that.) It has many advantages past one year and on vacation. If you want more info just ask. We have taken a baby at 7, months, 8 1/2 months, 9 months, 17 months old, 19 months old and 23 months old (2 different babies. ;) )

I agree the over 6 months but under a year is the easiest for the parents. You never know when they will be walking. I really assumed 2nd DD would be by our Jan trip when she was 17 months old, she was a scooter and scooted all around WDW (we were so worried about her getting stepped on) and she got so dirty. The min we got home and put her on her own turf she started walking.

I think it would actually mater more the time of year then the babies age. Spet can be hot and rainy, sometimes risk for hurricanes or at least major storms.

Jan can be on the cool side, you even need winter coats, hats and mittens some nights (and some days it is 80, so you need a bit of everything.) Cold isn't good, but cool is better for babies can HOT.

We are going in Jan this year, when last year too. Weather is pretty hit or miss, but we always have a good time. We went Aug 2003 and decided never again (but Spet might be a bit different.)

Just bring your own stroller, a baby carrier of some kind and a rain cover for the stroller (that is my best and standard baby at WDW advice.) Oh and breast feeding makes life easier too (and when in doubt with a older or preschooler potty train AFTER The trip instead of before, especially if it is going to be just a bit before. Newly potty trained is difficult at WDW. ) ;)

Oh, and last but not least, take TONS of pictures! :Pinkbounc

Thanks so much for the advice and input.

We went one year in Sept, RIGHT after 9/11 actually. It was hot some days and warm some days, but with a 9 month old I am not sure I want to deal with HOT, ya know?
But, nursing is comforting for babies, so that would be a plus, I know.
13 months in what could be chilly COULD be easier, but I don't know. I was thinking it would be better to bundle up some/layer rather than worry about extreme heat and humidity.

hmm....guess we have more thinking to do. At least we have some time to do it! ;)

thanks!!!!

Well, by 9 months, my dd was heavy! We went when she was 17 months old, and I said at that time that I would never go with an old baby who had to be held all of the time. My arms would fall off. Plus, with the heat, most carriers would be so hot for both baby and parent. If you do decide to go then, there are cooler types of carriers that you can get online... look up solarveil (sp?).

In Jan, the weather is nicer and at least while you are waiting in lines, you can let you child stand up holding your hands.

It's true you do have time and things to consider before then. One thing to consider is this is a baby you don't know yet. Things like size, temperament ect... could be very different then your 1st.

As far as holding goes, my girls are both very small. However they love to be held so even in line at a year old they wanted to be held. (and my youngest does one at 2 year old, but she is only 20lbs, still my arms are killing me.)

Also chances are your 2nd will have a pretty easy going personality, they often do. But there are so many unknown factors like that it can be hard to guess.

The good news is months old and 13 months old are both good times for babies. Sept and Jan good times and you are going to WDW. Something to look forward too! (When you are pregnant you need that!) Good luck! :Pinkbounc :thumbsup2

I vote for the 13 month old age.

I currenly have a 6 month old (along with a 5 year old & a 3 yr old-next week) & I hate going shopping knowing I have to stop & nurse my 6 month old.

She only nurses about 5 times but that is 5 times 30 minutes give or take depending on her need to be comforted. So if you still aren't nursing at 13 months it may be a bit easier on you. Granted you can still be nursing & your baby will be on table food too (can you tell my 6 month old it is OK to eat baby food).

Someone posted about the bjorn. I have one of them too & I planned on using it til she was older since my other two didn't reach 20 lbs til they were 2 & were about 16 lbs at a year.

Well my 6 month old is already 16 if not more pounds (I will find out her wt the end of the month) & just carrying her for an hour in it is painful these days & that is just browsing in a store.

I have a 20 month old son, I would have much rather taken him at 13 months than at 9 months. For us, my son was done nursing before he was 13 months and was already drinking from a regular cup and drinking whole milk. At Disney a sippy cup could be used, so no bottles and no formula. I have been in to WDW in late January, the weather is cooler but it's more enjoyable. At 13 months your child will be able to react to some of the attractions more and enjoy the surroundings better. I would much rather bundle my son up some than try to keep him cool. We have gone to amusement parks and fairs with him and he stays in the stroller fine. Even if your child is walking, the crowds are lower so toddling around some will be a good way for them to stretch their legs and it will tire them out too!! Good luck deciding!!!

All your input is really helpful in letting us see some different sides/opinions to things.

Thanks.

Any more advice/input is appreciated
