A blast!!
I guess I'll be the first to post. I tried posting right after I got back, but my post went into Post Siberia I guess. It never did show up. So I'll try again.
Well, I almost didn't go to the event this year. I went "solo" again as I did last year. But last year I was soooooo bummed as it was right after the hurricanes blew through our neighborhood, and my mom's home was totally trashed, and I was stressed. Which is why hubby encouraged me to go. But I felt guilty and became such a "loner" at the event. I didn't hang with anyone, stayed by myself, didn't trade or chat with anyone. It was PITIFUL!!!
Not so this year. I hooked up with Sue "tiggermickey" at the St Augustine meet the week before and found out she was going alone as well. So we agreed to do some hanging together. The of course, thanks to Stephan's post here on the DIS. we agreed to meet up and do some special trading.
So my first night was thursday, and where else do you go on thursday while at WDW if you're a "pin-aholic"??? Why All stars for a pin meet!! I got there right at 7PM, and meet Daber right off. He was so very nice. We got to chatting and started looking at each others pins. And then Stephan showed up. I traded with both. I got a HG LE 100 Pooh Door from DA from Daber, YIPPEE!! Then Stephan and I traded as well. I got a really beautiful Tink 2 pin set from Paris, and 2 more HG POOH pins. An LE 100 Pooh Camping pin from DA's, and an LE 250 Pooh Peek a Boo pin from PINS, that I missed thanks to being evacuated during last years fun!! I traded with another wonderful guy named Mark, for some MORE POOH pins, that I had never even seen before. So that was just GRRRREAT!! And I traded with a fella named Ron for the DL LS Pooh baker pin. On the way out at about 10:30PM, I met a Japanese couple and took a quick look and they had an LE 1000 Framed set with Mickey through the years which included a Steamboat Willie pin. So I HAD to have that for hubby, so that was my last trade. I was exhausted, but I had such a great night meeting new people, catching up with old friends, and of course getting some GRRREAT pooh pins. And I hadn't even been to the evnt yet!!
Next day I was up and at em early, and left my time share and went to Beach club for breakfast. Then I headed to world showcase gate to get into park. I met up with 2 pin friends, Lisa and Suzanne at the gate. We were pretty close to front of the line when we got to the place where event was to be held. We couldn't help but laugh at the people who were running to be first at the gate. We just took our time and got there with no rush.
Lisa and I got separated from Suzanne in the beginning, and for the bigger part of the day as she had not registered yet. So Lisa and I hung out for most of the day. I saw Sue several times, and stood in line with her quite a few times. The trade boards were fun. Well, the quick, small ones anyway. I did 2 of the large trading boards. But they took over an hour each. And the second time I didn't see anything. So I said what a waste, and didn't bother again. They mystery and quick trade boards had much shorter lines, and I did really well with them. I made a fe trades while standing in line. One was for a Pooh pin I didn't have from DL, and one was for a brand new HK DL Pooh pin!! YIPPEE!!
I went to the trading area in the back twice and make a few nice trades. I got a new Pooh "W" pin from Japan, and an older Christmas Pooh boxed set from Japan. Both from a very nice Japanese trader.
I also traded with a nice guy named David from California. He had some beautiful Jumbo's from the DL 50th celebration. It was wonderfull to actually see them. I traded for a Mickey "Coke" statue pin, that was a completer pin from DL I have all of the other statue pins and didn't know this one existed. So now I have them all.
I do not remember another event where I did so much trading. It was so much fun. And I met some really wonderful people.
I really want to especially thank Stephane and Daber for trading some HG Pooh pins to me. They are so very special. And I'm so grateful to you both for taking the time and effort to bring something special to trade with me in mind. You are both the sweetest.
I really had a wonderful time, and unless another hurricane interrupts my life next year, I cannot wait to do it again, even If I have to go solo again!
Blessings,
Winnie
There....are ya happy now Jeff?? LOL!!!
