My partner and I are heading for our adults only trip this fall. We are travelling from Sept. 29th - Oct 7th. We will most likely book on Westjet as I have Westjet dollars and neither of us have much faith in Air Canada. Not too comfortable with other airlines either.

So, anyone else in the same boat as me and hoping for a good seat sale for Westjet for this time period. I know right now they have a good price for a night flight for the day we leave but that wont get us there until the 30th so that doesnt work as we would lose our first night at WDW, which gives us fd.

Im hoping I will see something in the next few weeks to a month.

Anyone else going this time, still looking to book flights.

We're leaving from Halifax. For me, it's not worth it to drive over the border but a lot of people around here have done it. I don't want to spend 6 hours ( or whatever it is) driving into the states.

Have you looked into flights on any of the US carriers? We find that flying from Edmonton to Orlando, we can get cheaper flights on a US carrier - we usually fly on Delta or United and have had no major problems with either.

Another good thing is being able to clear US customs in Edmonton prior to our flight. With West Jet and Air Canada we'd have to go through customs in Calgary or Toronto and you need to leave yourself enough time to collect your luggage, go through customs and recheck your luggage before boarding your connecting flight. I'm sure it'll be the same with travelling from Halifax.

We've found that United has been consistently lower than either WJ or AC and even Delta most times, and for us, their flight schedules are ideal.

I'd look into both of those - you might be pleasantly surprised what you find.

I did a quick search of your dates and this is what I came up with:

United: $1,133.48

Westjet: $1,750.12

For what it's worth we always book with a US carrier for a few reasons. First we can usually find a seat sale when we check a couple of times a day for new prices. Second we find the schedules better with more reasonable layovers. Third there is complimentary seat selection. Fourth there is the US customs pre-clearance which means we clear customs at the very start of our outbound flights and again at the very end of our flights home.

If there were a direct flight I would pay extra to take it but not a chance in September so I much rather travel with a US carrier. Just my experience and opinion.

We're flying with United using their loyalty points. The frustrating thing is they are still fiddling with their schedules now that they are merged with Continental and I'm having to check almost daily to make sure things aren't screwed up. But I've been able to change flights and seat assignments without any penalties or fees as long as there are seats available so we have a great schedule right now. Halifax-Newark-Orlando departing September 20 8:16am-2:33pm and returning 3:30pm-10:30pm.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Just as a little FYI it looks like Westjet starts direct flights first Sat in November. :(
Nice to see the direct flights starting early.
Air Canada now starts flying direct mid December instead of February.

Prices seem really high and they haven't dropped since I started watching a few months ago for the end of October. The best I have seen is about $530/person.

We actually bought the our tickets with Aeroplan points, but I am still watching.;)

Yes the prices seem a bit high. They have had a few good sales to Florida but they either weren't from Halifax or you have to fly during the summer. That would be why I'm hoping, maybe uselessly that there will still be a sale for when i want to go coming in the next month or so. Last year I think it was June that we booked our flight for the end of August.

For reasons I'm not going to get into at the moment, US carriers are out. Just WJ and I'll leave it at that. ;)

We're going to be there the same time as you :) We depart Edmonton to ORlando on Sept 27, stay the night in Toronto airport then leave early on the 28th of Sept (10:30 am) arriving in Orlando at 1:10 pm....I wanted to avoid the red eye and 4/5hr layover in the airport in Toronto....I'd rather be in bed and then catch my flight energized the next morning! :)
We are flying into Orlando with West Jet....payed about 1950 total for 3 flights that is departing with West Jet and coming home on Air Canada. We bought around beginning of January

Our Oct 7 departure is 1:50 pm, connect in Toronto and have about a 1.5 hour layover then onward to Edmonton, arriving home around 8 Pm.....I loved the schedule :)

The prices where a bit higher this yr. than I am used to....about $650/$700 pp with bag fees.....I have gotten flights anywhere from $350/400 PP in the past....it's up about $200 pp right now!

From buffalo...still a little pricey, but we arent going to panic if prices go up, or they sell out of nonstop flights....
