Sept / Oct 2011

Wow, Franrose, our trip sounds fantastic! Welcome to the boards! which cruise are you going on?

Man, I am starting to get excited!!

Just a quick question as I read back... Travelmum I see you (and maybe others?) plan to visit the Space Centre - are you getting a car while you are at WDW?

Is anyone doing the Halloween party? I'm not sure if my kids would really be too young to get a lot out of it, especially as at their age they still like their early nights in bed...

Franrose, do you mean the one at Disneyland or Disneyworld? We are going to the one at Disneyland. Will anyone else be at Disneyland in October? It appears that most will at WDW!

:confused3 with only 27 days to go we are thinking about cutting out the Niagara falls and New york bit of our trip.
Looks like we are not meting DAunt and DH's father has only told us yesterday that he will be in the States whilst we are there so with some rearranging we can go see him as well:headache: Not sure what to do!

We won't have a car while we are staying our first 9 nights onsite and will rely on Disney transportation. I have hired a car to pick up the day before we check out of POR as we do want a car for our second week when staying offsite. That's the time when we will be doing Universal, Sea World, Kennedy Space Centre and shopping.

We are doing MNSSHP on our last night at WDW as I have read recommendations to finish on a high. I spent a lot of my childhood living in the States and Halloween is just not the same back here in N.Z. so I'm so keen to show my girls how much the Americans get into it and how fun it is. I figured the Halloween party was a good way to do that. :thumbsup2

Your dates are exactly the same as ours - Sept 16 -(we check out on the 23rd and are staying the night at Port Canaveral before boarding Freedom of the Seas) - although we are staying at Pop - we will also be celebrating our 21st Wedding Anniversary on October 6.

Youre not on the QF flight via Dallas are you?

We are doing the Halloween party at WDW. I am a bit excited about this as my birthday is on Haloween and I have not had any real Halloween experiences since we left the states when I was 10. We are there from 10 Sept to 16 Sept at the Beach club.

We just bought our tickets for the Dsneyland Halloween party on Oct 25th. What date are you going - and more importantly - are you wearing a costume??
Still trying to think of something for us and the kids that won't take up too much luggage space....

I am hiring a car for first 10 days of Orlando visit to get around at night and visit Space Centre & Shopping.:thumbsup2

My DD's are 14 & 16 and can't wait to experience Halloween for the first time:woohoo:

I don't want to lug costumes over with us so I hope to find some matching New Zealand T-shirts that the five of us can wear. The trick is finding a style that is made in both kids, women and mens sizes. My hope is that it might be quite a cool pattern that we might also wear (individually though, not en mass!) elsewear later in our trip or even back at home.

We're going on Oct 11. The children are so excited because I told them they could dress up. As for the adults, we are very tempted! I too am wondering what we can dress up. I might wait and buy our costumes in the States, they'll have a better selection and it'll probably be a lot cheaper too!

:cool1:80 sleeps to go :cool1:

We're going to the Halloween Party on 27 September. We have changed our costume plan and have purchased new ones. I have to make a slight alteration to mine, very minor, and we'll all be wearing bike tights!

DH is going to Kennedy Space Centre on a bus tour whilst the girls go shopping. I was going to go, long story cut short, best for me to stay with DD whilst we all go shopping! I went many many moons ago, good excuse to go back!

Kennedy Space Centre is a must-do for us. We will go on the bus/package thingy. I have done it before and it was AMAZING, it's a place that I can't wait for my DH and kids to see - especially our son as he is the one that gets up and watches the space shuttle launches with me on CNN.......last launch this Friday!!

We are also going to the Halloween Party on September 27th!

DD7 will probably want to dress up - easy as she will ONLY want to be a princess and we will buy that dress when we are at DTD before the night of the party.

As for DS13 - he could wear his Yankees gear and go as a taller, blonder A-Rod!!! Believe me though - he will just wear shorts and a t-shirt - my super laid back child!

DH and I will be going as a married couple who are very happy to be with their kids in the Magic Kingdom...the easiest outfit EVER!! :lovestruc

From what I have gathered the Halloween Party goers are:

Hellosue 20 Sept
Kylieh 27 Sept
Busy Busy 27 Sept
Travel mum Oct 7
Saskiwi 25 Oct
Shushh 25 Oct
austravler ?
Is anyone else doing Halloween in Sept/Oct? :maleficen:

Stop talking about the halloween party already - sheesh.

I was comfortable with my decision not to go - now not so much, and I cant fit it in the schedule. (Unless I cancel our table for two at Narcoosees)

We will be at MNSSHP on the 16th of September. Can't wait, but still can't decide if we will dress up or not. Mostly comes down to not being bothered trying to find a costume.

Battymum, I might still be with you (on the not going) lol! I have had a really good read up everywhere possible, and am pretty confident that Sept dates don't sell out (we would be Sept 23 if we do it). However, it's storm season and if it rains/storms any particular HP night, there are no refunds. So I think we'll leave it until we get there, see how the girls are going (in terms of tiredness) and what the weather forecast is before the 23rd. So long as the tickets are purchased the day before, the "pre-sale" price is applied, so no loss that way if it's rained out, or the girls are stuffed. At the end of the day, it's likely we could do twoish hours max at the party (my kids are in bed by 7.30pm and much later really does muck them up for days!), so it's never going to be terribly good value for us kwim. I'm happy to play it by ear and at this stage am thinking it's less rather than more likely we'll go.

I am very very keen to do the space centre though (kind of bummed we won't be there on a rocket launch date, the adrenaline just seeing it on TV is such a rush!! My parents have seen one too, so jealous)! Those of you on a bus package - can you share?? Having done WDW before, we will stick to onsite transport too, so a bus package is what we'd need.

I made a big mistake last night btw, by watching the doco Food Inc. That is NOT good viewing prior to heading to the US! :scared1:
