We are planning our next vacation. We have gone late Sept in the past and LOVE it because of the crowds.

However, this year we are considering beginning our vacation on the labor day weekend. I have read that WDW is not that busy then, but is that really the case?

My feeling is that the Tuesday following labor day would be much less crowded than the Saturday to Monday of the Labor day holiday.

What do you think?

Has anyone vacationed from the holiday weekend through the following week? How did the crowds compare?

Thanks for your help. (I tried to use search for this as I know it's a popular question, but it doesn't seem to work)

It has been our tradition the last few years to arrive the Wed. after labor day. Despite the fact that Night of Joy is going on ....the crowds are almost non-existent. I don't think we waited more than 10 min for anything if we waited at all and we didn't need one fastpass.

Wow that is good to know. I am going to Disney september 10th-17th.

cool. :cool1:

We decided on Sept 10 to 21. I'm ready to begin the countdown!!!

we were scheduled to be at WDW last labor day weekend but thanks to Frances, we had to switch our trip around and we ended up going the 2nd leg of the trip 9/10-9/15. EVERYTHING WAS EMPTY!! Most of the fastpass machines were not in use, the buses and parks were empty. POR was a ghost town! It was fabulous!!!

Beware of the weather though, hot and humid! I can deal with that if I dn't have to wait in line for anything though!

I was there last year from Sept 11-18th. The parks were so empty. No waiting. It was great.

I would think that the day after Labor Day the crowds would thin out.

Yeah I was there last September as well :) We arrived on Labor Day and it sure wasn't busy but that was because of the hurricanes!!

we'll be there from 8/31-9/17. we got spoiled from the lack of crowds the week b4 president's day, so hopefully the lines will be 10 minutes like in Feb.
me at the gate of kilmajaro safari "excuse me, does that sign say 5 minute wait?"
cm: "yup. it'll take that long to walk up to the jeep."
:)

Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend are crowded, but crowds disappear on Sunday. Most schools start back the day after Labor Day, so many families return home on Sunday or Monday. Late August and early September is a GREAT time to visit WDW! :cool1:

Debi, thanks for the great reply. That's EXACTLY what I was wondering!!!

We were at WDW these same dates last year, no crowds. If it wasn't for Herricane Frances it would have been a great vacation. The lines were short if any.

I'm going to WDW from Sept 15-22. Are the crowds really that low? Like are the lines really short even for rides like Space Mountain and Test Track? If so, wow that will just make my vacation.

Yep, it will spoil you for going to WDW any other time of the year. We mostly walked onto Space Mountain, maybe waited 5 or 10 minutes a few times. Test Trak we usually waited 5 to 10 minutes but that is just because of the preshow.
