Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

Probably because there are only so many discounted rooms. Even though you have a reservation the discounted rooms were gone. Keep trying...things could change.

ski

Exactly...there is a limited number of discounted rooms. Disney does not want to offer a 20-30% discount on every single room at every one of their resorts. From a financial perspective, offering a discount on every single room would not make sense....and from Disney's perspective, it is not necessary. Disney understands there are many customers who will come to WDW regardless if a discount is offered. Therefore Disney offers a limited number of rooms at a discount. If Disney's goal was to offer everyone a discount, then those customers who had existing reservations prior to this latest RO promotion would have had the discount automatically applied. Instead those customers are forced to call and request that the discount be applied.

After finally getting a competent cast member this a.m. My second time around was more successful.

We originally had a garden view at the yacht club. we were able to get moved to a pool/lagoon view and we saved approx 600 bucks. So I am glad I received something

However I did write a letter to guest communications to disney this morning. In the past anytime a discount was released and you already had an existing reservation you were given the discount on your current reservation. they always honored the current promotion for existing reservations.. Not sure why things have changed but I feel it's unfair. It was also unfair that any shot I did have of getting the discount on my first reservation the garden view were shattered by having the phone lines being busy all day yesterday.

I am not familiar with the policy you describe. Often when I want to apply a discount I have to make a change, either in room or resort. It's worth it to me, though. I appreciate the savings.
I also keep checking after I make a money saving change. It's not all that unusual for my 1st choice to "pop up" at some point and I can switch back at the discounted rate. It takes time and patience, but it's nice when it works out. :cool1:

I've never had a discount applied automatically. I think it says on the offer on the the website that there are a limited number of available rooms with the discounts.

The phones were busy because of everyone calling. That's just kinda the nature of the beast with the discounts.

Congrats on saving some money :cheer2:

I agree with this! I'm so frustrated right now because my travel agent assured me that I'd have a discount applied to my reservation at Pop. She promised to be proactive and to look into changing my reservation to a moderate once the discounts came out. I can't reach her and now nothing is available and Disney won't let me alter my reservation since the TA did the booking. Aside from that, I don't even think I can have the discount applied because Pop has no more availability for my dates anymore anyway. I know, I know, that's why I shouldn't have gone with a TA, but it was my first time and I didn't know any better. :confused3

I was lucky to get 30% off my 5 nights at Poly, 30% of my 5 nights at AKL, and 20% of my 5 nights at Beach Club. Did anyone else get the 20% or was it supposed to be 30%? I'm Canadian, so my CM said the discounts were different.

We are also going Nov. 30-Dec. 6. I've had a two bedroom BLT/MK view booked for over a year. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to take two separate rooms over at the GF. It'll save me 1700 bucks. I know what I'm going to do, it's just hard trying to change my mindset from what I had envisioned my vacation being prior to yesterday.

Anyone stayed at the GF before and love it? Reassure me? LOL-

Go call disney now and use either your name or your husbands name to rebook yourself. Use the name that your TA did not. You'll be able to rebook and the cancel with your TA when you get in touch with her. I'm so sorry. This would really frustrate me.

Go book your own vacation under the different name. There are tons of people still tweeking their vacations. The CM will give you all your options...you'll be glad that you called.

If there is no availability for the resort and/or room catagory you have booked previously you can not "just apply" the discount this is why booking before a discount goes "live" does not give you an edge up, rather it lessons the chance of a discount at a particular resort/room since if too many rooms are booked no discount is offered

This :thumbsup2.

As the pp stated, having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. Disney releases discounts to fill rooms, so if a resort is booking up without a discount, there will be fewer (or no) rooms at that particular resort offered at a discount. If you have an existing reservation when a promo is released, you have always had to call to check availability/have it applied as I don't ever remember discounts being automatically applied to an existing reservation or being guaranteed that a discount could be applied.

We have a reservation at the Poly October 19-25 (7 nights). When I called yesterday to see if I could apply the 30% RO or FD I couldn't. The reason was because 2 of the nights - Oct 24 & Oct 25 - there are no rooms available at the Poly; it's sold out. The CM said she couldn't give me the RO discount or FD for only 5 of the 7 nights of my reservation - it's all or nothing. Sure, I could have made a new reservation for 5 nights and gotten the RO discount or FD but then we'd have to move to another resort for the last 2 nights but we don't want to do that. I'll keep calling back and trying....

Keep trying as you never know when the nights you need will become available :wizard:.

Your TA should never had assured you that the discount would be applied as it depends on availability and not whether or not you already had a reservation in place. I would keep trying to get ahold of your TA and if the discount can't be applied now, have her keep checking as things do change and you never know when something might become available. Good luck :).

The GF is an amazing resort :goodvibes. The Poly is our favorite resort overall, but I have had 3 stays at the GF and all 3 stays were wonderful.....you will love it :cloud9:.

Love the GF and am at the Sugar Loaf as I'm typing this. Awesome resort with amazing location and very good restaurants. The Grand is usually my go-to followed by the Poly but will be trying the WL during December to try something different. I'm nervous about that!

We were able to get the discount for 6 of the nights at the BWI. We kept our AAA discount for the 7th night. It will be annoying to maybe have to change rooms but at least we got the resort we wanted. I am going to keep checking back to see if I can get that last night. I am doubting it since it seems most deluxes are sold out at any price for that night.

I still didn't get my confirmation email from yesterday. Anyone else not received theirs yet?

I was wondering this too, I also haven't received my confirmation yet and it's making me nervous!

I applied the discount to my existing reservation yesterday morning around 8:30 am and I have not received my email either.

I received my confirmation email right away, but I also booked the night before the rush. Have you checked My Disney Experience to make sure it's showing there?

Called this morning just to see if I had some luck on my side...I was on hold for 45 minutes and still no luck. I asked her if she thought more rooms could open up later on and she pretty much laughed and said no. Her response was "this was a long shot to begin with" (I'm staying at WL - Nov 30-Dec 7). At least she was nice. :lmao:

If anyone is looking for AKL though, there's plenty of room there though (and it sounds like it's the only deluxe available at the moment with the discount...that or a Deluxe Club Room at WL that would have cost me $2,500 more than my current price). :rotfl:

I also applied it to my existing reservation..I can't seem to find any way to check balances through Disney Experience :-/ It just shows my reservation but nothing dealing with deposits and such.

If it's showing unavailable, keep checking! I was able to book my inlaws this morning in the WL with the FD discount. Rooms are being cancelled and are released randomly all day. Just keep checking!!!

Really lucky yesterday. Only on hold for five minutes before getting through. Booked rooms at ASM for mom's surprise birthday weekend trip in December!

I'm trying to book CB in October and I'd like to spend 5 days in a regular room and 2 nights in a pirate theme room. I'm booking online because Travelocity is soooo much cheaper. Right now I've got two separate reservations...any pros or cons to doing this? Is there a better way???
thanks!

My TA finally got back to me. No discount for me due to the ticket increase. So annoyed! She said that if I can change dates that I will save 600 dollars but I can't do that due to work. Plus the airfare cancellations are high. I think I am going to check out travelocity...
