Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

:dance3:

Margaret, Michelle (30+) and Ana (60+)

No special celebrations for us, but our happiness in sharing with our new friends!

Yay, the last FE List Queen is on my 2nd leg of a 3 cruise B2B2B, woohoo! :cool1: Looking forward to seeing you! :goodvibes

DVC: BLT 2008 then added SSR 2010

ah shucks - I'm not in charge of this one, but I am doing the one for our EBPC cruise in December. For the past FE exchanges we had the cut off 6 weeks before the cruise. Those who joined after the cutoff were able to participate, but with the understanding that everyone in the group might not be able to accomodate additional participants after the cutoff.

Hopefully we'll be able to meet onboard!

 Ah, just a thought, the 9/2/12 Canada cruise I'm on prior to this is cutting their list August 1st so that people have time to order or make their gifts, package and label them. We really need more time than a cutoff of 8/24/12.

I know I do as I've had surgery last week and am having one this week and I'm making my gifts from scratch. Also, the FE I did on 11/6/11 cut their list off somewhere between 4-8 weeks out as well giving us plenty of time to put everything together (Tammy could remind us how many weeks we had). :scratchin

DVC: BLT 2008 then added SSR 2010

I was in charge of the FEs for June 2nd cruise last month. I did an 8 week cut off so people had plenty of time. We also kept it to no more than 20 rooms participating. I had a few names on the waiting list and we did lose a couple of people so I was able to fit in a few last minute people who wanted to participate and were wait listed. This seemed to work well. No one was overwhelmed.

I have gone through all the posts and created a Roll Call List. I hope I didn't miss anyone but if I did, please let me know. I included names when I found them and celebrations. If anyone wants to provide me with their real name and any celebrations I might have missed, just let me know.

Add to the roll call List
Peter with his parent Delores (81) and Joe (85). This is Mom's birthday present cruise.

Done!

Would people like to propose an earlier cutoff time for FE?

The list is up to 13 staterooms. Remember you can always check goo.gl/caGqs for the list at any time.

I grew up in the Bronx and moved to Shoreham in the 70s, we actually arrived in time for hurricane Belle. As a city girl was not prepared for no power, downed trees, etc. Never expected to stay on Long Island, but love it now and am too settled to think about leaving. Come from a big family, and 3 of my siblings followed me, a brother in Bayshore, another brother in Commack and my sister in Shoreham :cheer2:. Two brothers up in Rockland County, and one in Dallas. Nice to know that some fellow Long Islander's will be on board!

Deb & I are ex-long islanders also. I grew up in Bellmore, Deb in Selden, we met in Sag Harbor and lived for a while in Watermill...:cool1:

Ah, you lived on the long part of LI :lmao: Small world. We live in Rockland also, in Suffern.

My wife Mary and I just booked this cruise! Apparently we got the last DVC discount price! We sure are glad that we didn't "think about it" any longer!!! We're celebrating our 32nd aniversary.

This will be our 4th cruise and first on the Magic.

Looking forward to cruising with you all!

Dumb question, by last DVC discount price, does that mean the ship filled up or was there a cutoff date to take advantage of the offer?

Judging from some discussion on the FB page for this cruise, we have a senior citizens group forming. My mom is joining us and she's 84. I know two other members mentioned their fathers joining, both in their 90s, if I recall correctly?

LWQuestie: with her mom & 2 aunts
Mom's 60th (8/3), and LWQuestie's 33rd (9/3)

Thanks for making this list!

I'm Erin, my mom is Jan, and my 2 aunts are Marie and Joan. We'll also have my mom's guide dog along.

I called to try to get the DVC price today (only found out about it today) and was told the deal was sold out. There are still staterooms available in the category I'm hoping to upgrade into, so I don't think the ship is full yet.

What is the Facebook group called? I can't find it.

Due to the responses about concerns about a FE cutoff being too close to the sail date, how about we make a "cutoff" for August 1st. Those after that time people can either prepare something or not if they feel like it.

As we only started the list within the past week, I think it should be up for a bit longer.

Personally, I am not a fan of excluding anyone. I understand it takes time and effort to create FE gifts, and there needs to be an accurate count for those to participate. For example, if someone signs up last minute, and I do not have a "big gift" prepared, I may still include something small or silly to put in their FE. It's about the fun of it for me, I am not in FE for a gift. I realize I may be in the minority :thumbsup2

All the signups through the webform are timestamped, so it is easy to see when someone says they will participate.

How does this plan sound for the group and other FE Coordinator Experts?

I am ok with whatever the rest of the group goes for.

I am assuming that there will be a limited number of kiddos on this list to plan FE gifts for, the rest being adults.:stir:

Thank you for taking on the FE job.:goodvibes

We have made our reservations at the Library Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Anyone have any info? I found it online and liked the vibe.:cool2:

I thought I was familiar with most major hotels in the city, but that's one I never heard of, so I looked it up. I love the description:

The hotel boasts a unique organizing principle: each of its ten guest floors has a theme, designated after a major category of the Dewey Decimal Classification (the 5th floor, for example, is the 500s, the Sciences), with each room as a subcategory or genre, such as Mathematics (Room 500.001) or Botany (Room 500.004). (Dewey categories 000, 100, and 200 are placed on the 10th, 11th, and 12th floors, respectively.) Other room themes include Erotic Literature (Room 800.001), Poetry (Room 800.003), and Music (Room 700.005). All rooms have a small complement of books and decorations that accompany the theme, with 6000 books overall throughout the hotel.

I'd want to stay on the Erotic literature floor :rotfl2:

August 1 sounds perfect

I agree with you 100% - we have always accomodated the late arrivers, especially if children are involved - we love the thrill of giving!

Thanks so much for putting this together. :)

I love your DVC signature logo. My home resorts are BLT and SSR. How did you make it? pixiedust:

Christa - I'd like to take credit for the signature logo, but I'm using BirdsOfPreyDave's talents. Here are his instructions:

When I called last night the DCL rep told me that I got the last DVC discount available for the 3 listed cruises. There are still staterooms available at the normal price, so I'm thinking that there was some number of staterooms set aside for each cruise, and I got the last one. I didn't think to ask - I was just happy to get the cruise for the price.

Ditto the others. Thanks so much for doing this, I would anguish if I didn't have something for everyone, especially the kids, so I will try to have some extras or backup for any late joiners. Have had fun thinking about this the last few days, and have an original idea, or at least I haven't seen it in all the FE threads I read through, but not sure I will be able to find what I need. My first time doing this, made a fish extender for our first cruise without a clue what it was for, saw a picture of one and thought what a cute decoration to make-- my granddaughter loved it, and it turned out to be my Mom's landmark, so I wasn't as worried about her getting lost when she wanted to go back without me.:thumbsup2
