Still to this day, I cannot understand a teacher who would tell the kids they were having a test the next day on whatever, Cameron would study for it and come home the next day saying they "didn't have time" to take the test. How can that be? When I approached her on it, she told me if she didn't feel the entire class was ready, they would hold off until she felt they were ready? They never will ALL be ready -- that's just the way it goes. To put the other kids through the stress of that, I don't agree with.

I'd do this on occassion. If you know that a significant amount of the students in the class haven't absorbed the information, what's the point on testing them on it? The kids who are top achievers will perform well, and the rest will get bad grades, and a negative attitude about whatever class it is. In my experience, sometimes it was better to spend a day or two going over material and making sure that everyone REALLY got it, instead of just testing and moving on... just another perspective ;)

Lisa, I could agree with this if it was the exception and not the norm in the classroom. More times than not, they didn't have their tests when they were told they were going to. IMO, the teacher then isn't doing her job if the class is not ready -- time and time again. And, if that's truly the case, don't tell the kids they are going to have a test tomorrow. It would work better for us if it was a given that "sometime" that week they would have their test.

This was only one of the issues we had with this teacher. The kids who went on with her the next grade were really struggling compared to the kids who had different teachers. Sad for the kids. I hope they all do okay now in 5th grade -- as they will have new/different/structured teachers.

That's it for me tonight. Off to bed I go. 5:30 comes really quick around here.

I can't believe I've sat here all night. :faint:

Night all!

Ahhh, now that's a different story. How can you expect the kids to be organized if the teacher isn't???

Ron Dougay!! Stacy, he was my ultimate crush as a teenager. I bet no one else has even heard of him! :rotfl: I had NYR season tix my 4 years in HS and I would take the subway into MSG every game early to watch them practice. I even got a signed puck from him!! I just thought he was super cool for not wearing a helmet!
