Aghhh slow down some of us are running (ok my rendition of running) to catch up! Work is crazy right now so I can hardly jump on during the day and had to read about 15 pages tonight - lol.

I remember being a kid and living in Staten Island near the beach there was a really bad hurricane, in the 80s, don't remember the name. I remember them coming down the street with a bullhorn yelling to evacuate. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, so I'm guessing kids don't have that fear?? Or I was a crazy kid?? I'm guessing the latter.

I think I remember that one, it kept bouncing into land, going out to sea, back into land all the way up the coast.

We were in a hurricane on our honeymoon 10 years ago. It was a cat 5 and very scarry. The winds were just crazy. We were on the 13th floor of a hotel and I though it was going to blow over. It was amazing how nice it was the next day. I really hope to never go through that again.

Thanks for reminding me about Battle of the Stars. I used to love that show when it first aired. This one is good too.

We still use one queue. The kids just put their requests in and I add them. Lately, though, they always want to be #1.

We've never had any real problems with them and hope they stick around for a long time!!

It gets back Saturday Sept 3 - the day of the PI Bon Voyage Party

Our neighbor has a home down in Orlando and was down there last year during one of the hurricanes.

When he came home, he brought pictures of the destruction. Our neighbor said the worst part of it all was knowing that when it stopped, it hadn't really stopped, just that they were then in the eye and the backend of the storm was still to come.

I can't imagine.

Yeah, I have a really good friend & sorority sister that lives in Arcadia. They lost power, and were told not to expect it back for a couple of weeks. But, lucky for us (and them) we had purchased a generator because we thought Charley was headed for us. So, we drove it down to them. On our drive inland, we saw telephone poles & power poles snapped in 1/2 or completely down. There were power lines in the road, and trees everywhere. Heck, you can still see the damage in the old pine trees all over WDW, especially on the road from Saratoga Springs to OKW.

That's exactly what he told us about, these huge old trees which were just uprooted as if they were plastic.

Gee, we have tornados here which I've always hated (could be cuz our house was hit by one as a kid ). But usually their destruction is much less than what I've seen with hurricanes. And, there's something to be said about not having a lot of time to worry.

amy, why do some people feel they are safer staying? I don't get that.
