Noreen The only beach I've been to is at the Duval Beach Club. It was ok but not as nice as Castaway Cay.

The trolley is a great way to see the whole island.

As for the butterflies vs. the aquarium? Well we did both and I guess it would depend on you and your kids. Neither one takes a great deal of time. The butterflies are beautiful. I'm thinking with your two oldest being boys you might like the aquarium better. They have shark feedings and stingray feedings you can watch.

If we take the trolley will it go to both locations-aquarium and butterfly?

Also, what time do we need to return to the ship. I see there is a sunset sail offered on the DCL excursions. Won't we be on board the Wonder by then?

Butterfly museum is at the far end of the island, near the southernmost point, the Aquarium is right near where we dock, less than a block, you can go there first or last near the ship.

We leave later than a usual docking there, I think 9:30, but not entirely sure, was a long time ago I think 3Dan posted it. Plenty of time for the sunset sail.

Hey Mark or anyone, What time is all aboard in Key West?

Normal time in Key West is 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm. I would think we would be on the same schedule. The info on the DVC site says we'll be there until well after sunset. Also one of the excursions is the Sunset Sail with meets at 5:45 and lasts 2.5 - 3 hours. So I don't see us leaving before 8:45 based on that.

Let's talk about Key West some more. Is it possible to get off the ship and just walk around until you can't walk anymore? I mean like how far away is everything. I've been kind of looking at a map and well the aquarium is right near the ship, right, but then there's the coach outlet halfway down Duval. And I found the Birkenstock place near that and margaritaville....so can I just keep walking until I hit the ocean again and turn around and drag myself back? The years I wear my pedometer at WDW I usually walk 9-10 miles a day, so I can walk.....I just don't want to miss anything good! :rotfl:

It can totally be done. In December we had a friend renewing their vows at the Duval Beach Club right near the Southernmost Point. We walked from the ship down there, went to the vow renewal and walked all the way back. No more walking than you would do in a day at WDW.

I just thought of another question. If we get off at Key West and get back on the boat for dinner how long would it take to get back off after dinner? Is it a pain to get on and off? What do you suggest. :confused3

Boy, you guys have been busy tonight!!! I went to dinner at Carrabba's with Chris and then we went to Emily's preschool for a Back-to-School orientation night. We got to meet Emily's teacher and see her classroom. We also got to meet the other parents. She's in the same class as 2 of her friends from last year, so that's going to be great.

This cruise I am trying out those chairs on Deck 4. While you all are taking your walk around Deck 4, I'll be the one in the chairs snoring!

That will be Grumpy 1 doing all the snoring. The first time we saw the commercial with the family on the cruise and the Husband slept thru everything just cracked me up. :rotfl2:
All I could think of was that would be my dad.
I don't even know how many time he rode Spaceship Earth before he actually was awake thru the whole ride.
Sorry Dad!! :bitelip:
Love ya!

Getting on and off the ship is a breeze. You are at most a 5 minute walk from Mallory Square (where all the action is).

Good. Because I want to see as much as we can, but with the girls, things can be if-fy! So I don't want anything concrete, in stone. I think it will be nice just to get off the ship and walk where we can and if it's too much just go back. Key West---here we come!! :moped:

Sounds like you had fun!! I tried to take a nap today, but the phone rang every single time I layed down!! We just got a Carrabba's here recently and I haven't made it there. Is it any good??

We're hoping our kids enjoy the clubs too. Adult time is something Gary & I don't have a lot of. Not to dump our kids off for the entire cruise, but it would be nice to be a couple once in a while. :goodvibes for both of us.

I agree. Hopefully Nick & Cameron can kep each othe company so the adults can have some quiet time.
Something cozy, a nice quiet spot on deck just watching the water go by.....zzzzz.......Oops sorry the thought was just so relaxing.

OMG, that's Chris. He would sleep through just about anything. Years ago, I won a trip through a local radio station in Chicago to see Pearl Jam in San Diego. Well, we were sitting in the concert, listening to the opening band, The Ramones, and Chris fell asleep. It was SO loud, and here he was sleeping!!!

OMG, we LOVE Carrabba's. If you can go out without your girls, sit at the bar, so you can watch them cook. It's really cool!!!

Bruce is the same way. He can sleep through anything!! I credit all those years sleeping on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf for that trait!

Me--I wake up if an ant walks across the room. I can't sleep in the car or on a plane. The conditions have to be so absolutely perfect, I only sleep like 3-4 hours a night. But, more time to enjoy the ship!! Of course, I'll be the only lunatic awake, but still, more time!! Last cruise, I was on deck watching them do their thing when we pulled into Port Canaveral. Last year, at the Boardwalk, I watched them pressure wash the boardwalk every morning at 4am. And watched them deliver the giant stuffed toys to the store.....now that was interesting. It's like watching the magic get ready for the next day!!

Birkenstock? Where would that be. I love my Birkie sandals. They are getting a bit worn and I thought for sure next year they would need to be replaced. Maybe I can take care of that in Key West.

Do you think they'd mind if I wore my crocs in there? ;)

Hee Hee Hee....Let's see Margaritaville was 500 Duval, Coach was 517 Duval and Birkenstock was 612 Duval. I figure if I keep walking who knows what else I'll find!
