Hmmm... do they have a rock club on board? Maybe we could add a new DisMeet... we could all buy a pair of Crocs, meet at the club, and dance to

CROC-odile Rock :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Jenny - you mean he won't buy the "it was peer pressure from the ladies of the DIS" After all they are on sale and they come in kids sizes!
I could probably sneak a few more pairs of flip flops in if he is not looking. I just LOVE flip flop and have a large collection of them. DH just gets sick of looking at all of them spill from my shoe bin in the laundry room.

And everyone should get a pedicure! They are wonderful. I currently have pink toes with white pocadots! I'm wondering if they could do Mickey heads for the cruise......

OMG -- you guys are killing me. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

All this talk about feet -- I sincerely hope NONE of the men on this thread have a foot fetish. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Jenny,

I just had my first one done Monday night. My feet feel SO wonderful. Before I left the salon, I made my next appointment for the week before the cruise. I had always heard that once was all it took to be hook (not by a fish extender though :rotfl2: ).

I just wanted to say that all of you have little feet compared to mine. I have size 12 (yes size 12) and I own 2 pair of crocs that I love. I was thinking about looking for the flip-flops at Wal-mart but my dh would kill me. We really don't want to bring too much luggage. I guess I will need a pedicure before the cruise too so I can show off my big feet.

:scared1: SIZE 12!!!

Someone with bigger feet than me!! :rotfl2: DH says I have the biggest big toe he's ever seen. He teases me about my gargantuan big toe all the time. I bet even at size 12, my big toe is bigger than yours! :rotfl2:

Like I said before, I have big feet and follow this rule: If you got em, flaunt em.

And They do make lime green nail polish! In fact the salon I go to for my pedicures has lime green and also a lime green that color changes in sunlight like what Mary is talking about. I also have a blue one that changes pink. WAY COOL!!

Emma is walking around the house in my giant lime green crocs saying Shrek. I'm thinking maybe I have an advanced child and at almost 2 she's learned how to get on the DIS and read!!

I have to share a story. I still need to get this out of my system.

I took the kids to the pool across from us today. It's zero depth and if I didn't feel safe taking my kids along with the daycare kids I wouldn't. But, I've done it in the past and feel pretty good about it.

We're in the shallow water -- maybe 1 1/2 foot deep at the most. The pool itself only goes to about 4'. There was a boy (I'm guessing maybe about 15-16) who was a special needs kids. I could tell just by watching his actions.

It didn't take long for another boy to come over and start holding this older boy under the water. I thought at first that he was just goofing around, like kids can do.

But, the older boy didn't put up any resistance whatsoever. I have all of my kids right with me and I'm watching this over and over again. It wasn't for very long and again, I kind of thought it was playful.

Well, the boy took it further and started holding the older boy under longer and longer. I'm looking around, no other adults are in the area. Here I am with 6 little kids and this kid is being held under water. Again, never struggling to get out from under the hold of the other kid.

So, I'm starting to panic just a bit. I tell my kids to get out of the water and sit on the side. Fortunately for me, they all listen very well. I again watch this boy hold the other under the water. To the point of now the kid underwater has expelled all of his air. The boy on top stuck his fact under the water -- it almost looked like he wanted to give him a breath of air. I had enough and couldn't watch anymore. So, I kind of ran over there, yelling for the boy to get off of the other one. Fortuanately, he listened, looked at me and ran away. The boy who was under water, just got up and started playing in the water again.

Still my kids are sitting on the side of the pool. I never leave them alone but my instincts told me I had to do something. So, they are still sitting there and I run over to the guard office and asked one of the guards to come out so I could talk to her and walk back to my kids at the same time. I told her what happened and said I didn't know which adults were with this boy but someone needed to keep better watch on him.

Immediately, the pool manager and several guards went into action. I had to take my kids out of the area because I was still really upset over what I saw. We walked to another section of the pool. The manager asked me to describe the boy who held the other under water. Later she came up to me and told me that boy was also a special needs child. Knowing this, at least I could understand what happened a bit more.

Here's my gripe. Actually two.

None of the counselors with these kids knew what was happening to one of their children in the pool. When the manager approached them, there were 4 ladies who had been chit chatting. Don't get me wrong, I like to chit chat, but not at the expense or safetly of any one of my kids. This boy could have ben drowned before any of them noticed. I felt so sad for the boy. I felt such irresponsibility on the part of the counselors.

I'm not sure how much I feel the guard sitting in the chair should hold some of the responsibility. I will say that we were a good distance from the guard and it's possible that the guard also thought at first it was playful. I have very mixed feelings on the responsibility of the guard in this situation.

I tried to get the name of the camp they were with -- the pool manager would not give me that information. Cameron does have a friend whose older brother is a guard at the pool. I may see if I can get that information from him so I can go a round about way to make someone aware. These counselors were so wrong.

I'm just glad I was in the right spot for the boy who could have been really in trouble.

Thanks for listening -- I needed to get it all out.

Oooh---and I forgot to add, if anyone hasn't tried the pedicure at the Spa at SSR.....you have to! They use this maple brown sugar scrub on your legs and it's TO DIE FOR!!!

OMG! Thank goodness that you were there! It is simply not acceptable that the adults weren't paying attention to what was happening. Since the kids were with them, I would have thought they would be hyper-vilgilant, knowing they were dealing with a group of special needs kids in a pool. There is no excuse for this type of behavior, and I'm sure the child's parents would be thankful and horrified if they knew what had happened.

I would follow up with a letter to pool management, asking for a clarification of what policies are in place for this type of situation. Do they have a ratio of children/lifeguard? Do they require that private groups using the pool provide a certain amount of adult supervision for the children they bring? Do they have a policy to deal with large groups who come in and behave in an unsafe manner? I would ask again, in writing, for the name of the program that was using the pool, so that you can make sure that the people in charge know what was going on.

At our last assignment, there was a "summer day camp" program that would take the kids swimming at the pool, among other activities. Sam would go as a drop-in on occassion, but, luckily, I had seen the way they acted when they went to the pool beforehand. They just had too many kids for them to keep a good eye on, IMHO, and none of the "counselors" even put on swim suits to go in the water. There were lifeguards, but when you literally add an extra 40-45 kids to a pool, it's hard to keep track. Since it was a small place, a group of moms would go over at swim time, so the kids could still hang out with their friends, and we could feel like there was adequate supervision. Call me paranoid, but it only takes a minute for something to happen...

Maybe we should have had a separate part of the photo gallery just showing feet and you had to match up people to their feet. :teeth:

Ummmm, no. As my feet would be the smallest so far, it would be a dead giveaway as to which ones are mine.

I'm just going to keep you all in suspense.

Oh My, who was calling the Tag Fairy yesterday? She certainly needs to review these last couple of pages. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, fess up gentlemen, which one of you are going to be secretly checking out all of the ladies feet??? :jumping1:

I would never call you paranoid because your are 110% correct. I've seen it happen, I've had it happen to me with accidents with the kids.

Good thought to contact the pool/Park District in writing. I'll go take care of that now.

That was me.....there are a million good tags in just the last few pages! Although I really don't want one that says I have Shrek sized feet!!

I can't believe the whole situation at the pool. It was so great that you were watching out, since no one else was. Watching kids in a pool is very tricky to begin with. The counselors should have definitely been paying constant attention. It really is a good thing you were there.

LOL... just as I finish being worked up over Cindy's post, ds comes up to me an innocently asks if we can go to our community pool... :rotfl:

It would have to be a green tag of course and say something like "Have Shrek feet and flaunt them." :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I must tell you, I am sitting here and reading about all of these women talking about their "Big Feet". I am just laughing , and shaking my head. Especially when I think about the size of my DW's feet. :rotfl2:

OMG!! :rotfl: :rotfl: You guys are cracking me up!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess that I have the smaller feet in the group. I wear a size 8 and I always thought that my mom's size 10 feet were just HUGE!!

I definitely LOVE a pedicure. I actually decided to get one in the spa at 8am on the Key West morning. I'm not a big spa person, but I figured that I could enjoy a pedicure. Plus, my toesies will look GOOD!!!

I can't even imagine how you were feeling at that pool. That poor young man and his family!!! Imagine if you weren't there on this particular day. This truly could have been a tragedy. Thank goodness that you intervened!!!
