Sept 4-8 2005 Wonder S.S. Member Cruise! Part 2

I am back from WalMart (there is one right near my office) and

I have blinkies!

My goal is to wear them to the Bon Voyage party (since that event goes into evening). We'll see how I do - it has been years since I've done flip flops. 25 years to be exact. Haven't worn them since I broke my ankle. I'm bringing my crocs as well. I have the Nile version in pearl. Lime green is a little too much for me!

We had a great time at the "taste of" at Downtown Disney during Member Homecoming. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was the last event and we had to say good-bye to friends and the great DVC cast members that were working!

YEAH!! I think that I'll try to head to Walmart this weekend. I have the same problem, Mary. I don't do that well with flipflops. I don't know why, they just aren't that comfy for me, never have been. But, for blinky flips, I'll give it a try.

Mary--you always have all this inside info! In my head I'm picturing a "batphone" in your house, with a direct line to DVC! The phone rings, you pick it up, you give them the secret password and they give you info! Hey, my life doesn't get much more exciting than fish extenders and blinkie flip flops these days!!

I know what you mean. Mary always seems to have the latest scoop. Heck, she's so much farther away than I am, and she still knows more than me.

Yeah Mary! :cheer2:

I wonder if mrs.lips knows she's famous on this thread? :rotfl: Everytime I see mrs.lips I just can't stop laughing!

I've tried to walk in the blinky flip flops and I don't think I'll be doing any long distances in them! I never said they were comfortable....just cool! I'm used to wearing Birkenstocks, and well, these just aren't quite the same. I was thinking they'd be real cute after dinner to walk on the deck outside with. Of course, after a few frosty drinks, I don't know how well I'll be walking in them!

I also enjoyed the Tasting at DTD. Especially the Earl of Sandwich booth. I was 8 months pregnant, so if you noticed the pregnant person going back a million times to Earl's booth....that was me. Can't talk about it anymore, getting hungry already!!

OK--now I'm REALLY taking Julia to the doctor! I just can't stay away!!

Okay, can I have a quick update. It has been so busy the past week and a half that I am behind almost 50 pages. EEK.

SO what is the deal with the flip flops? Is there a DIS theme dress for the DVC party or the sail away?

I was a little worried at first. Found the display with no problem, but didn't see any green ones. Then in the back there was a green pair in my size (large 9-10). I was so happy. Hit them on the shelf and they blink. Yeah!

I got a lime green zip bag as a gift from a fellow DIS'er. We've packed all the buttons in it and there is still room. Since my crocks are so light i might wear them for the heavy walking (bus to venue) and then switch into my blinkies. Just don't want to fall or make a fool of myself.

I also picked up the mini wipey boards. We'll use two outside the cabin and one inside. They are small (about 3 inches square) and come with a pen and eraser.

Robin - i think they first appeared on the Repo cruise, but a number of us have gotten them for this cruise. They are at WalMart and currently on sale for $5. Diana posted a picture a page or two back.

They have a floral bottom and a tube like top that blinks when you walk.

I'm planning on wearing them for the Bon Voyage Party, the DIS Meet onboard, maybe even pirate night.

Just for the record, I'm not a flip flop wearer either. They are so flat and offer no support whatsoever. These I will wear, but limited.

Last summer I developed a heel spur. It was one of the most painful things I ever went through. I was the one on the beach at Hilton Head wearing gym shoes with my foot bandaged up. I couldn't wear anything else. I have to be really careful with what I do wear. I can tell when it's time for new shoes because my foot will start to hurt. Good shoes with support do wonders to prevent the flare up.

So, my time will be limited in my blinky-blinks.

By the way, I bought the black ones with the blue flowers. I could not picture myself in the lime green ones.

So, Mary, you're another croc wearer. Between you and Diana, I might need to really try those out. :teeth:

Speaking of theme's for the meets here's what I'm thinking. Feel free to chime in.

Pleasure Island Meet. Saturday. DIS portion 3-4 pm by Fulton's. DVC portion 4-6 pm inside Pleasure Island. If you can make the DIS portion you can pick up your button from us then and we can all go to the party together.

Those who have been on the first Member Cruise let's wear our t-shirts from that. Those who don't have one the color is a medium blue if you want to match or you could wear a DIS green shirt or anything else you think would look nice. If you were at Member Homecoming, but not on the cruise think about wearing your Member Homecoming Lanyard. The reason behind this. The party is going to have lots of DVC representation. We want to show them that we appreciate these Member Events and that they have repeat customers in us!

DIS meet onboard. 3pm deck 10 mid-ship. This is above the Goofy pool on the same side as the dock.

We'll be wearing our DIS shirts that John/Kathy designed and Kay had made for us. We are wearing them to the port that day. If you weren't at the party the night before this is the place to get your buttons. We'll have the DIS Meet sign up.

Sailaway - for those who want to be in the action (dancing with the characters etc.) the place to be is deck 9 mid-ship. There is a dance floor over the Goofy pool. For those who want to spend an equal time watching the party and watching us set sail we've found deck 10 to be best (same place as the DIS meet).

I think by this point we will have changed clothes into what we are wearing to dinner. We are on early seating and like to watch the ship sail out to sea as much as possible. So we'll leave the DIS meet with a little time to spare to change clothes, go to the drill and then up to the sailaway party. Then right to dinner.

Yes i bought them because of the DIS and they are very comfortable. In fact I'm wearing them at work today. I didn't get the traditional ones. I got the Nile ones that look more like a regular sandle. Also got them in Pearl which is a cream color. No big bright ones for me - my feet are big enough.

I usually go with my New Balance shoes for support since I have severe arthritis in my right ankle (I still have a rod up my right leg and pins in from my accident 25 years ago). So if you see me limping anytime during the trip you'll know I overdid it. :)

I did wear my crocs into Epcot a few nights on our June trip and my feet felt great! They have the little massage bumps on them. They are super super light!

I got mine online right from the crocs site. www.crocs.com

One last thing I wanted to add about Crocs. I have wide feet and was afraid they wouldn't fit right but they did.

End of Crocs commercial.

Well time to start work here. I'll check in again at lunch. All you daytime chatters have fun and don't leave too many pages for us to catch up on.:cheer2:

Thanks, Mary. Dick's Sporting Goods is where the lady at Nordstroms told me to go to get them. Cameron's been pining to go over there. Maybe tonight. :teeth:

I think I am more of a neutral color wearer also. I can't picture myself in the bright colors.

By the way, I'm glad to have a "plan" for the cruise. Even if we choose to not participate, it's nice to have an idea of where everyone might be. :)

Count this Mary in as a Croc wearer too. I have two pair and will probably be bringing both with me for the cruise! I've worn Birks for years, but these are my new favorite shoes. :goodvibes

Okay, that settles it. Off to find some crocs tonight! :teeth:

Good morning everyone!!! It's HOT, HOT, HOT here in central FL. Chris left a couple of hours ago to drive up to Jacksonville to get on BILs NAVY ship. So, I'm here with the girls on my own. I think that I'll wait to go to Walmart tomorrow. We have back-to-school tax-free week starting tomorrow, so it will be a zoo, but I'll do some clothes & supply shopping for Emily for preschool.

I really need to clean the house today, and get things organized. My house is a disaster, and it is amazing that it was somewhat clean just a week ago. How fast 3 kids can mess up a house (my 2 girls & I've been watching one of Emily's friends over the summer). I'll be happy when Emily is back in preschool, so that it's just Madison & I at home. She doesn't make that much of a mess (YET!)!!!

As promised several weeks ago, POSTCARDS were mailed to everyone that requested one from Castaway Cay, while I was on the 7/7/ cruise.

Let's hope that they will be arriving very shortly to your home. I took them myself to the PO on Castaway Cay

I have a question about the crocs, and no :rotfl: at my question.

Aren't they a rubber/plastic shoe? If so, do they make your feet sweat?
