Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

Hello everyone!!!

What a beautiful weekend!!! 80+ degrees. Almost as good as being in the Caribbean-but not quite.

Boy am I glad we are doing the Eastern Cruise and not the Western Cruise becouse of whats going on in Mexico (Swine Flu). I wonder if DCL will stop going to Cozumel for a while? As we all know DCL is a very safety first. That's why I keep going.

Who knows what DCL will do. Cozumel is in a safe spot, as far as I can tell from the reports we've seen overhere. It's basically Mexico City and to the north of it. That being said, the EU has given out a warning yesterday to not travel to Mexico (whatever destination) if the travel isn't truely neccesairy. And than again, our own government keeps insisting no problem what so ever, so no negative traveladvice or even a warning. :confused3 I'm sure that if DCL thinks there is a real risk they would change that port for the time being. We all know how rigorous they are for a simple situation of a sick kid with normal flu that might spread, so no way they would want to risk infecting a whole ship of passengers with the Swin Flu. Let alone their own staff!

...for PALO, and pirates, and mickey hooray!!! :rotfl2:

Oh, you are going to have such a good time! :goodvibes

I may be succumbing to the media, but this whole flu situation makes me so scared. I'm a bit fan of Stephen King and whenever people start talking about a flu epidemic, I always think about the "Captain Tripps" (superflu) from The Stand. :guilty:

You are right about that, Hon. I do have to believe that the travel industries are very on top of this situation. And, I guess we just have to rely on the media to keep us in the loop.

Really, I know it's easier said than done, but don't worry too much. It isn't going to help you one bit. If the proverbial you-know-what is going to hit the fan, it will no longer matter if we'll be cruising, at WDW or at home. If it turns into a pandemic, it'll happen. Nothing we can do about it but follow proper hygenic rules and common sense.

Take the media with a grain of salt. They are important, but also very good at making a spectacle of things. For instance, we tend to be a 'common sense' kind of place compaired to some countries around us. Yet, a story brook yesterday in the papers. Big letters above the article; "6 possible cases of Swine Flu in the Netherlands". Most people will read the big letters and that is what sticks. But, reading the article? Oops, it's all about how 6 people were tested but ALL were found negative. So no possible case what so ever. Yet, mulitple media has brought it as 6 possible cases since than. :sad2:

I know these things can be scary and I'm not saying I'm too happy about hearing about the first death caused by Swine Flu in the US, cases of infection in our neighbour countries etc. But I keep reminding myself that worrying does no good in the long run. If this is a biggie, we'ld better have enjoyed these days not worrying. If it isn't a biggie; days spend worrying for nothing.

And who knows. For all we know, we get onboard the Magic on september 26th and on the 27th for some reason they find it safer for us to stay aboard a lot longer to protect us from the risk of getting infected. Now is that imagination, or what? :lmao:

I hope this Swine Flu does not contaminate the Tequila distilleries in Mexico.

You are so totally right about everything you said. The only thing we can really do is take precautions and hope for the best. That said, I certainly wouldn't mind your scenario above. :cloud9:

Amen to that!!! :rotfl2:

You'ld better start taking classes in how to make your own. Just in case. You know, gouvernment telling us to take precautions and all. ;)

This Flu-thing is becoming funny today. We've got a 'what is it called'-situation. They've decided it's no longer Swine Flu, because no infected animals and they don't want people scared and no longer buying pork meet. OK, so then the EU decides to call it the New Flu, or something like that. No, that's not right. Fpr a moment it was H1N1, but that didn't sound attractive enough so away with it. Then our guys decide that since the Spanish Flu was called that, this one must now be called the Mexican Flu (never mind it didn't start in Mexico). And off course; now the Mexican ambassador is p*ssed off, because it is harming Mexico. Who knows what they'll call it tomorrow. :lmao::rotfl2:

Wow, who would have thought that once the whatever-flu hit our own country we would be so uncaring about it? This morning a 3-year old tested positive, after getting back from a trip to Mexico.

But, it all doesn't seem to matter at the moment. Today it's Queens Day. A major national holiday. Used to be the Queens Moms birthday and since we've been celebrating which ever Queen was Queen at the moment. Each year, there are very major parties going on, the whole country turns orange and the whole Royal Family goes out, visits 2 cities and celebrates with the people that live there. Always a live report on tv, hours long. Today it was no different. Untill one car showed up. It went full speed into the crowd and into a monument set up for the Royal Family. The car only missed the bus the Royal Family was travelling in by 20 seconds. Nobody knows what's going on, but it sure looks like an attack on the Royal Family. More than a dozen people majorly injured in the crowd. Trauma helicopters, children involved, CPR going on, this is really bad. :sad1:

Forgive me my babbling, doesn't really fit here. Guess I need to vent a bit. Was reading up on the DIS when seeing the images of the... situation evolving.

That is absolutely horrible about the attack on the Royal Family. Pictures are all over the news here in Atlanta. And, of course, you can't go anywhere without swine flu news either. I hope all of this bad news runs its course soon; I'm ready for some good news!!

Boy, wouldn't that be a welcome chance Crystal! I'm hoping right along with you. This sure seems to be a nasty year.

One piece of advice though; be careful as to which pictures and filmclips you watch. There are some very disturbing ones around. As of now, 5 people are confirmed dead and some others are still critically injured. Let's just pray that number wont rise anymore.

PS; weren't you supposed to update a certain TR yesterday evening?

For some reason, I can't find the FE list on here. I'm probably going right past it :) Can someone tell me which page it is on? Also, when is the deadline for signing up for the FE? I am getting ready to order some of my supplies and I want to make sure that I don't come up short...but I don't want to order too many either! I'm soooooooooooooo excited for the cruise! Yippee! Yay!

A more detailed list, with names and color coding, is post #750 on page 50.

We aren't listed on the FE list on pg 50, but we are marked on the post on pg 9 as participating, so I think pg 9 may be the "master list"????? :confused3

Page 9 is a master list of everyone on the cruise, but I made a seperate FE list because it was a pain for me going thru a huge list looking for the "FEs". Also, the list has names for gift tags, ages of the kids to help with present buying, etc all in one place. I hadn't seen that you had joined the FE so I have added your family now.

Thank you all so much! Funny thing is, I looked on pg 9 last night and didn't see it...WEIRD! Anyways, thank you all!

Also, when is the deadline for signing up for the FE or isn't there one? I am getting ready to order some of my supplies and I want to make sure that I don't come up short.

I have never had tequila, maybe its time to try it. Will have one with you.

Where is the list for lanyards?

There really isn't one yet.. I am in charge of them. Posted a few times about them, but not much response. :confused3 I can continue to find some if everyone is interested? :lovestruc:lovestruc
