Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

You'll love the pictures they take on board! They're SO good! I usually buy WAY too many!

How are you telling Kirsten? Will she know by the time we see you? Meg is good at keeping a secret, so no worries there!

I had my big 40th last year! I bet you'll have a great time!!!! We also already booked our next trip - Oasis of the Seas next August.

The buying is what I am dreading. I suppose I will have to wait and see and then work out the most cost effective way. I like digital photos as I don't scrapbook but turn everything into photo books on Shutterfly. I even scan/photograph all of Kirsten's artwork from school and put into photo books, but that way I can keep the absolute favorites, but have copies of everything and no guilt included.

I have no idea how we are going to tell Kirsten. It may have to be when we see you as I am then going to have to start pulling out the cases anyway. Tomorrow I have a pile of clothes to take to the dry cleaners. I do most myself, but with our formal wear I would rather leave it to the professional.

Now you will have to excuse my ignorance, but where is Oasis of the Seas and where does it go.

Sigrid

Do you all wear 'formal' dresses for formal night? On our last cruise, I did. I was hoping not to get too formal this time. Do people go all out on DCL?

You will see the whole range of dress on formal night, from cruise casual, which is the everyday dining room dress code, to formal. On our last cruise, our friends wore shirt/pants while my DH wore his tux and I wore a gown. We were definitely not in the majority. I did see a lot of men in coat and tie though, but not all-out formal. Do whatever is fun for you!

By the way, we sent our formal clothes to be pressed on the last cruise-- they got rumpled in the suitcase. Our stateroom hostess took care of it for us and I think it cost around $12. If you might need that service, just be sure to send the clothes out the day before.

:wave2: Hi Everyone!!!
It has been a massively busy time for us! 4 Days till our wedding! We also got our cruise documents along with a call last week that another exursion got cancelled. :sad1: (second exursion that cancelled on us)
i jsut added to it, whoever approves it. :)

ETA: super sorry for serial posting.. i cant check this at work..

I requested to add, but noticed not much activity there.

whos doing what excursions? we're just gonna wing it..

So here is our updated schedule
Day 4 PV:
Cooking experience and Palo

Day 5 Cabo:
Salsa and Salsa (this one is new and I am actually really excited about margaritas and a salsa lesson for Robb! He needs it! :rotfl2:)

Day 6 Cabo:
Cabo resort pool getaway :sunny:

Day 7 at sea:
Rasul ;)

I would like to add a FE rule:

If you upgrade your cabin at port (I know... I know.. you are all thinking that is going to be me because of my room switching "problem" but I promise we are staying as is!!! :lmao:) you are responsible for letting everyone know by slipping a piece of paper under the door of the other cabins or clipping a note to everyone's fish within the first couple days. It would be easy to make your FE deliveries while you do this since you are heading to everyone's cabin anyway.

I want to make sure everyone gets their FE gifts (and I don't want to shlep my leftover gifts home if I can't find you!)

Thanks for the rule, being it is our honeymoon, we may upgrade (depending on how much we get from our honeymoon registry)

There was one other person that was from Sacramento, but I forgot who it was!:confused3

ITS MEE!!!!:jumping1: I am not that far from Elk Grove! I am in south sacramento! Soo cool we are close! :grouphug: Especially on the same deck!

Just seen on a blog that Disney Cruise Line is changing it's alcohol policy as of September 19 and wanted to share with you.

Seen that also BUT sounds like it changed back to the old one today (calling tomorrow to confirm) other family in our group...called a few days ago & still sounds like old polciy...which I'm happy about :cool1:

What is the new policy? We do enjoy a cocktail or two :thumbsup2 and we did want to bring some on board (we have a really cute bottle of champange from my bridal shower that all the girls signed and we wanted to save that for the cruise

I am going to work on fe's after the wedding maddness  We are sooo close to our cruise!! I am exstatic!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!! :goodvibes

What two excursions were cancelled? I haven't received anything so I am hoping it isn't something we were signed up for too.

Day 5 Cabo:
Salsa and Salsa (this one is new and I am actually really excited about margaritas and a salsa lesson for Robb! He needs it! :rotfl2:)

Salsa and Salsa is what I was going to sign up for when our ship was going to Mazatlan!!! It looked amazing! I might do this on our second (short) Cabo day (assuming it is available). Have you seen their website? Looks like a blast: http://salsaandsalsa.com/

Disney retracted the new alcohol policy. Now it is back to the same... you can only pack it in your carry on (so no one comes to throttle you if it breaks in your checked luggage and ends up on their tuxes), there is no limit to how much you bring... the size of the soft-sided cooler is still limited. See this article for details: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/disney-a-mom-and-the-mouse/2011/09/disney-cruise-line-were-not-changing-alcohol-policy/

I will be bringing a bottle of rum... in hopes of hanging out with Captain Jack.

Just as an FYI for everyone considering Salsa and Salsa. It is only available on the long Cabo day :(
I was hoping to add this one in. Oh well.. next time. Funny, I found out that Salsa and Salsa is held at the same hotel as the Cabo Pool Getaway (at least from what I saw on TripAdvisor). Maybe I'll sneak-a-peak on while on our pool excursion.

We are doing:

Las Caletas (PV)
Cabo Resort Pool Getaway (Cabo)
???? (Short Cabo Day)... maybe wander around or hear back from everyone on ship of the first Cabo day to see what favorites are and sign up that night (if possible) at the front desk.

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend...we had a fun filled 4 day camp trip...now thats over, I'm ready to focus on our cruise...been picking up all our things we need & started thinking about clothes/outfits.

My DD wants to bring one of her Belle dresses...do a lot of the kids dress up & if so what days do they dress up...dinner as formal attire?

I love the idea of scanning artwork and putting it into a book! How neat! We usually start out at the beginning of the cruise buying the biggest package they have for the pictures. I can then take the pictures back to my room and make the final decisions once I see them all at once. Then, you can cut back and get a refund or add to it if necessary. My sister and I split a package on our last cruise and this worked really wellf! We usually end up spending around $300 on the pictures. As I said, the formal shots are just so good! And, they have some very fun poses. They have one of my three older boys with their pirate gear on (just eye patches, bandanas, and swords) jumping with a white background. It's really fun!!

Oasis of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's new line of ship. Oasis and the Allure are the two biggest cruise ships out there. They have rock climbing, surfing, ziplining all ONBOARD!!!! I'd be happy sticking with Disney forever, but the boys really wanted to try it. I think we'll add on a week at Disney beforehand so I can get my fix though!!! LOL

I've heard this is worth it! My formal stuff will have been in our suitcases for two weeks by the time we get on the ship. You bet it'll all need a good pressing!!! Did you just ask your stateroom hostess to take it out for you?

FUn!! Where did you camp? I'm going to bring two of Meg's princess dresses. She wears them for teh princess gatherings and at dinner. I saw a teenaged girl on one cruise with all her little princess dresses. She went to the princess meet and had the princesses sign them all. It brought tears to my eyes! I'm saving all of Meg's outgrown ones to do that with.

So, you know we were going to drive out to the port from Michigan right? And, we decided last minute to fly. I'm having to make decisions about what to leave at home. I did a dry run last night on my oldest son's bag and we are 16 pounds UNDER the weight limit for his carryon!!! So, now I need to figure out what else to take!!!! :lmao:

Today, I'm starting to gather all the little things - FE, pirate stuff, trading pins, etc. I hope we only need to check one bag!!!

sorry casual is what i meant.

dress up - i dont mind the formal attire, but last time DD was a toddler 20m, it was hard, so now with an 8m old, i seriously wont even attempt it... so we will most likely skip those nites..

That's right! Now I remember!!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding.:bride: My MIL and FIL also live in South Sac. You are very close to us here in EG. Such a small world!:grouphug:

Ok, I will try to post a pic of my family too!

When you post, there's a little box at the top of the text box that has a mountain in it. It's a yellow square. Click it. It'll have a place for you to put your link to a picture. I put mine on Snapfish. Click it so it's big. Right click in the address of the picture. Copy and paste it into the box that came up after you clicked the yellow mountain button. It's not as complicated as it sounds, I promise!

Here is my family!

How far of a drive is that from your home? So cool you got a sneak peek.

At this point I am sick of waiting and am ready to go (though completely unprepared)!!! I've had this cruise booked for over a year! Luckily having a pre-trip will make the time fly by faster. We leave in 11 days!!! Our FE gifts are completely finished except for two items that arrived broken and I am crossing my fingers replacements will arrive in time. I also have to figure out another suitcase to pack them in... so glad there was only 19 cabins! Don't know how many more suitcases we are able to take on board. I am planning on leaving the FE suitcase in the car at the hotel near LAX but am trying to figure out a way to creatively hide the suitcase so someone doesn't break in thinking there is a suitcase of jewelery or gold inside and busts a window only to find our FE gifts (sorry folks.. no fine jewelery or gold in our FE).

Can't wait to see you all on board! I will be the one with a fruity cocktail in hand and the big "finally" smile on my face. :cloud9:

sdKT: Katy and Larry; DD Madelyn (6); and DS Nikolas (8 months) - 8500
so um , i usually don't correct my name,, but on the FE list my name got misspelled and the baby too.
ALtho i dont think anyone will be making me personalized stuff :lmao:

im Katey. baby is Nicolas.. ok thanks.. :flower3:

For some reason, it didn;t work! I will try again later :confused3

I read somewhere on the DISboards that you are required to have a certain Number of posts before you can post photos. Can't remember how many posts it was though....

We live about 100 miles from Skagway. Went with a friend, and met with some cruisers that we were on the WBTA with last year. It's always a good time when you see a Disney ship and even better when you get visit with fellow cruisers. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to pop in & say hi :goodvibes

So excited that we're only 2 1/2 weeks away! I'm not participating in the FE, but reading all of your posts is making me even more excited about our cruise! I'm looking forward to see what the dry dock will bring us!

We're in the TEENS!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe how time is flying! I hope it slows down when we're ON the cruise!!

Hi Christy! No need to join the FE to hang out in this thread. Who is traveling with you? I will be traveling with my DS10... we live pretty close to the middle of SF and LA on the central coast.

ETA: We need to stalk the people on the repo cruise before us to see what happened on the dry dock! Hopefully one of them will post live from the cruise. I won't have my laptop with me but I am planning on checking in on my iPhone... if anyone wants to volunteer for said stalking position... it would be appreciated. It is doable on my phone but not ideal. Though I am willing to give it a shot!
