Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Hi we have Dd 8 and are excited to participate in the Fish Extenders(s), pirate Day etc its our dd first cruise. Can someone direct me?
:cutie:
Thanks

Welcome Avas I am doing my best to organize the FE although I am also a first time cruiser. The info needed is cabin number, names/numbers of people in the cabin. I don't know how much, if any, of this thread you have had time to read but there is a lot of information relating to the FE and pirate night.

You can purchase an FE on Etsy or EBay, or, of course, make your own. If you choose to purchase a personalized FE on Etsy although there are 2 months to go, I know that some can take at least a month to be finished. Make sure you include your cruise date/when you are leaving home so they get it done in time.

With regards to gifts that is entirely your choice. Some people do 1 gift for the state room others do age appropriate gifts for each person. The list won't be closed until August 27 giving people 4 weeks until cruise date to finalize everything although some only have 2 weeks as they head out a lot sooner. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Someone will always give you an answer.

I am going to post an updated a FE list over the weekend so people know how we are doing.

As for pirate night. I know it is entirely up to you how much you choose to dress up. I have bought my daughter a pirate outfit on etsy. My husband has asked for a pirate Mickey t-shirt, also off etsy, plus he said he'll wear a hat and eye patch (both off etsy) with jeans. I plan to get a wenches outfit off etsy too.

Hope all this helps

We finally were assigned a stateroom today: #2610--very convenient to the aft elevators and the late night run for pizza.

So jealous of people getting their room assignments!! Checked this morning and we STILL don't have ours. Yes, yes, I know.... patience is a virtue!

BTW mamacrumbcake... we stayed in almost the same room on the Magic (quite a few years back) and we loved it. Like you said, it's very convenient for food runs and it was also really convenient for getting on/off the ship. Congrats!

You can have my room! Seriously though... I was the first person to get my GTY assignment and no upgrade... I'd rather still be waiting and get something a little fancier. (I am still hoping my baseless theory comes true.. the longer you wait... the more likely an upgrade). Yesterday I was 100% sure I was going to keep my room and I wasn't going to pay to upgrade. Today... I'm considering it.:confused3:eek:

Okay... I upgraded. (yeah.. I have a problem). I am back to GTY status (which again is 90% of the fun for me... I'm equating this to people who enjoy gambling. I'm not a gambler but I would imagine those who gamble get the same thrill I get from the GTY).

What category did you upgrade to? Curious minds want to know.

Anyone know how to tell if the ship if filling up? Are there a lot of rooms left? Again on the curious minds!

Good for you for making a decision. I'm not sure I could make the gamble.

I did a search but found a thread that was over 3 years old so no help. Had a quick look on Expedia and they are offering sales on this cruise for many categories. Also thought it interesting the relocation from Vancouver to LA is selling as a refurbished ship. Obviously planning a real good scrub up.

You are so funny! Can't wait to see what room you get now!!

Hey Jennifer.... we got our lanyards today. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Love 'em!!!

Just to make sure I'm not being a complete idiot and missing something that's right in front of my face....
When we get our cabin assignment, it will show up when I log into the "Planning Center" under "My Reservation," right?

As a reminder the list will not be closed until August 27th so this is still subject to change.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

I've just bought us tickets to go to Mickey's Halloween Party on Monday 3 October as we are staying in CA for another 6 days after the cruise before heading home, and thought we would take the opportunity. Anybody else also going to do the same?

Ok, been busy moving which took some days off the countdown.

Still no darn room assignment!!!

They obviously want to surprise you with the best suite in the house.

I started watching the disney cruise line documentary (about 40 minutes) off of netflix the other day with my DD. She was asking could people sleep on the ship and I said "yes". When she said "why" and I explained it was so they could visit different places. Then we watched the set sail party and she said "are Mickey and Minnie there too" and I explained "yes". "Can we go on one". I don't know you'll have to ask your Daddy was my response. I think I mentioned before that we've not let on about anything holiday/cruise etc as we just can't bare to go through the countdown. We had to do 7 weeks of countdown at Christmas getting ready to go back to the UK to see the family and it was extremely painful. She does keep asking why I've bought something and I explain "because I wanted to". Normally she would argue with that, but so far nothing! We're thrilled though, that she likes the idea of going on a big boat with Mickey, Minnie and others!!

How was that movie? I saw it was on Netflix and I thought I'd wait til a week or so before the cruise to show my DD... to get her REALLLLLY excited. Will it work?

It should do. It is quite a few years old and as much as anything is a documentary on how the concept came about with regards to the cruise line and how they chose to decorate it but they also explain about the child care, trips, island (which of course we don't get to visit). My daughter (who's 4) didn't understand most of it but the concept of staying somewhere with Mickey and Minnie and having parties with them was what excited her. It's definitely worth a watch. We've still got the last 10 minutes to see (yup on Netflix too). Don't forget that they are changing their rate plans as of September 1 so make sure you've updated your account by then.
