Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Are any of you folks NOT coming from LAX or staying in a hotel near the Port? My BFF lives in LA so we're trying to figure out how to get there Sunday morning. There's parking but it's $12/day ($84+ = :sad1:), and a cab/exec car would be at least $70. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Pawn a ride from friends...

We'll be driving down from Vegas and yeah... unfortunately we're just going to be eating that $12/day in parking. The GOOD side of that is... when we get off the ship, we'll be able to go straight to our car and get the heck outta there! That beats standing in line waiting for a cab/shuttle/ride any day!
(Trying to see the bright side. :) )

$84 is a lot cheaper than a flight for one from Vegas!!

I've just finished making our fish extender:banana:

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Here's a preview...

Thank you Sigrid! I think we're going to pass on officially joining the FE party this time around, but I'll let you know if things change before the 27th. :)

Thanks Alicia! :)

Nope no secret we know about about except to have a friend drop you guys off then pick you up when you come in....but you won't know exactly when you'll be off the ship but I think a little waiting would be worth saving almost $100!

Wow, that is so cute! I'm STILL looking for one to buy b/c I don't have a crafty bone in my body! Good job!

Cathy, that is terrific! Would you mind sharing where you found the directions, what level of sewing skill is required, and how long it took you to make it? Thanks!

Hi Karen

Believe it or not I had no directions or patterns. I looked at a number of fish extender photos on the boards for guidance and really just made it up as I went along. It was a lot of trial and error. I worked on it on and off over the last two weeks.

The only things I purchased were the coloured fabric (just scrap material my girls helped me pick out from the local fabric shop) and black bias binding in different widths for the edges and trim. I cut up some old cream curtains for the backing and used two plastic chopsticks taped together for the rod! I cut Mickey shapes out of black iron-on mending patches and ironed them on to the pockets. Silver fabric paint for our names.

Honestly, for someone like me who is not very crafty I am quite proud of how it turned out!

Don't know if anyone is interested but I was at my local Joann Craft store on Friday morning looking for stuff to use for my FE gifts and spotted a Disney Count-down Board. It looks really fun and it classed as a basic skill level. I'd love to make it but we're not telling our daughter about the trip until the last minute. Anyway I've tracked the information down on-line and here's the link to what it looks like/how to make it:

Thanks for sharing....It turned out so cute. I think I am going to try to make one too...I am fortunate enough to have a good friend that sews so I'll talk her into helping me...won't be too hard.

I did have a question for those on our cruise that are traveling as adults only...Do you make just 1 pocket for the couple or 1 pocket per adult? TIA.
