Julie- good luck on the Roy Suite thing! :rotfl2: I'm pretty sure that is what is happening! By the way, how did the packing go? Are you done?

See ya. Deanna

Deanna - I did quite a bit of packing actually. I put a bunch of stuff in my carry-on. I even packed some clothes and shoes( ) that I know I won't need before then. And, because I am insane, I wrote down each article of clothing that I packed so I would remember what I put in there. I am feeling GOOD. Wooo-deee-Hoooooo-deeee-Hooooo! :bounce:

Erin - How was school today?

School was fine. The girls seemed to do okay getting up this morning. We had a lot of kids from Mississippi and Louisiana registering in our county today. Our kids wear uniforms to school, So our church decided to set up a uniform and school supply drive to help these students get supplied with uniforms and be able to "fit" in as well as possible. I spent the majority of my day calling schools, and spent some time at our church building sorting supplies and uniforms. The girls went with me after school. We met 3 families that are here with basically "just the stuff that is in their car". It really just tears you up. They are very appreciative of what we are offering. It was amazing how quickly people started to respond once we put the word out. Hopefully tomorrow, we will get many more uniforms and be able to at least help several more families. We had a lady call from Mississippi telling us that she owned a uniform store in Leeksville. She told us that she was bringing us everything she has. At least during bad times it does seem to bring out the best in most people. :goodvibes

All you packers are making me sick! ;) I can't even think about it right now, but hopefully by next week, I'll start getting my act together. I did buy myself a new garment bag, and bought one off ebay for the girls. Not that everything will fit in it, but hopefully we will be able to keep all the dresses in some order, and not completely wrinkled!

I'll be anxiously awaiting my UPS man tomorrow. With any luck by Friday! Glad you all got yours though. Maybe that will be the push I need to start packing! Good night all!

Forgot to add: Bpicard-you are so talented. My girls got the mickey booklets today, they haven't put them down since we got home. They loved them! You did an awesome job. They love mulan and mushu pic.

Julie- you are so organized! You even make an organized person jealous! Good for you!

ErinC- Wow. Your stories are so interesting. Let us know if we can send something that would help!

By the way, I didn't get an upgrade on my docs! Maybe next time!

Deanna ( notice the non-coffee drinkers are typing late! And you coffee drinkers will take over the 5 a.m. chats!) :rotfl:

Yes, Erin, let us know if we can help. I would love to send something that you know would be needed. I already made some donations, but I have been looking for more ideas. Let me know!

I think packing is going to wait for me until a day or two before the trip. Any clothes we got specifically for the cruise are packed in a suitcase, but other than that everything is going to have to wait.

First day of school today for Chantel. And..I talked to the teacher after school about the "family trip" we are taking. I told her I was aware of this "extended absence policy", so I did'nt expect her to prepare any materials for Chantel, but if she could just tell me what they will be covering when they are gone, I would be willing to pick up some material myself at a teacher's store. This is the teachers first year of teaching, so I might be able to break her down a bit and get her to help me with this. Whoohoo.

I'm not even going to bother calling my TA until everyone here received their docs. She told me 10 days before the cruise...so on that 10th day, I'll be standing at her door!

Ingrid - How was Chantel's first day? Hopefully, her teacher will be helpful with the absenses - that would be nice! :goodvibes

First day was exhausting. For both Channi and her Mom! I work at a college so it was "first day" for me too. Sometimes those college kids can be more troublesome than elementary-school children. At least the little kids LISTEN! When I picked up Channi she was all smiles. She said there was a lot of rules to remember! :rotfl: I told her it was'nt much different than a job!

Ok..guys. Now I usually poke fun at my DH all the time. He is very good natured about it, and if he was posting on here, I would get the same! But lately I've been really worrying about him. He has been working so HARD these last few months, and he hops from one contract to another and has'nt had a break since April. He just came back from a job out of town, and I tried to convince him to take a break now and relax until after the trip. He was going to take a night shift job and I thought I had convinced him not to take it, but he went ahead anyways. The biggest problem is he had injured his back last week. He took one day off after his injury, then went back to work. I thought he was better, but yesterday after he mowed the lawn, he was in an extreme amount of pain. I know he is thinking that he wants to get in as much work as possible, but at this rate he won't be healthy enough to enjoy himself! Apparently, his boss is putting him on "modified work", which means he should'nt have to do anything strenuous, but I'm still really worried.

If things get worse, I might have to resort to duct taping him to a chair, and calling his boss and telling the boss he ain't gonna be available for a while!

Ingrid- I was reading in my docs today that people who aren't American citizens must report at 6 a.m. the day we disembark. No one is allowed to leave the room until everyone that isn't an American citizen on the boat has all reported to this room. Good grief. That doesn't sound like a fun experience! Maybe Didi can take you down some coffee while you're in the room waiting for everyone to report and get out of bed! Please advise if you need sugar or cream! :rotfl:

I have also just emailed everyone at our school to get permission to be excused. The kids will be missing 6 days of school. Wish me luck. I should hear something by tomorrow.

kwork11- I love your daughter's packing skills! Hey, at least she remembered the undies. Wasn't it Ingrid who said her DH once forgot? Too funny. Maybe she needs to help Ingrid's DH pack! Does he need any help, Ingrid? I hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Good luck on the dance tomorrow! I hope everyone gets to dance. :cool1:

See ya. Deanna :wave2:

To all wth docs: Congrats! I'm still "docless" here in MN :( Keri--isn't Dana a gem?! She's my TA, and I REALLY enjoy working with her.

I really hope the 07 rates come out while we're onboard--my parents and I hope to cruise in Jan or Feb 07!!!!

Hi Gang! I know I'm late to post - but better late than never!!

I see that smiling mouse is a single parent. Any others? Like you SM - I tried, in vain, to get someone to go with me as well... of course, someone other than my kids. I have two boys 7 & 5 and we are all looking forward to this trip!!

I'm sort of freaked out dining alone. I'm a independent woman - but eating alone really bugs me. Especially at Palo which I'm sure will be full on couples - it'd be nice to have share some good conversation with another adult! So if your out there... let me know it!

Still haven't gotten my docs yet and I'm getting concerned. I'll call tomorrow.

Good news... did get a called from the co I booked from just last week and they called to say Disney call and upgraded me from a Cat 10 inside stateroom to a Cat 8 outside! Woohoo!!! I guess I booked early enough to be granted that honor! I'm pumped!

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Oops, I meant to type full OF couples. Boy was that freudian or what... lol! Anyway, you knew what I meant... right? RIGHT?! LOL!!

Welcome to our crazy club, Partyelf. Actually, I not a single parent...just a solo traveler....actually, I am a child trapped in an adult's body ;) :rotfl2: :wizard:

Yup, pretty crappy....my car horn went off at 3AM and disturbed my beauty sleep. Well all I can say is where's my cup of coffee. I got to go Barney is ready to throw up a hairball. Gosh could this day get any better.....

On a good note, I got my suitcases up in the bedroom. I've got to go and pick up a hair ball now. :moped:

Didi :paw: :wizard:

Didi- I was eating a pop tart before going to work. I was reading your post about the hairball. Suddenly my pop tart didn't taste so yummy! :earboy2: Good luck with the clean-up!

Partyelf- My sister-in-law is traveling as a single parent also. She has two kids ages 4 and 9. She is from Missouri. Her name is Lori. Congrats on your upgrade! We are cat 10 with no upgrade!

smilingmouse- I love the description of yourself!

Good luck dancing today. I'm sure some of you will get to do it! It feels so good.

Deanna

Yo Everybody!!! :wave2:

Welcome PartyElf :teeth: Have you read the entire thread yet? :rotfl2: There will be a test? :rotfl2: Are you early or late seating for dinner? Many of our reservations are "linked" so we will all be sitting in the same general area. If you want in, let me know, I'll do waht I can.

DIDI ~ Barney is such a BIG cat, I can just imagine the "hairball" experience.

Ingrid ~ Guys don't take to aging and not being able to work very well. Sounds to me like Gringo is pretty normal. GUY Thing!!! Take along a couple of those muscle relaxants. I find cruises remarkably relaxing. I think you will find the whole thing very therapeutic for him.

ErinC ~ Let me echo Julie's offer of help. All those displaced kids in new schools are going to need supplies (pens, pencils, crayons, paper, etc ...) Could send you a Gift Card (or multiple Gift Cards) for you to distribute some badly needed help... Also, Thanksgiving & Christmas are coming ...

Well ... morning constitutional ...

Dennis

Ingrid - I know exactly how you feel! Starting with my Dad and now on to my husband - they work themselves sick and still don't stop. One year Clint had pneumonia and he was still going out and working on his pools. It was insane. His doctor finally told him if he doesn't STOP he will get very, very, very sick. Anyway, he finally did - and guess what - the world didn't end and we didn't go broke. Men are stubborn. And I didn't even have to use the "secure transmission" to tell you that - they already know it! Good luck with him, but I doubt there is anything you can do. Just think how nice it will be to relax with your husband for 7 days! He seems like a great guy! On a better note, I'm glad that you and Chantel had a great first day of school! :goodvibes

Deanna - Good luck with the teacher's reaction to missing 6 days! I hope to be doc-dancing today. Everytime I see the UPS man go through the neighborhood, I give him "the eye".

WELCOME, PARTY ELF!

Didi - mmmmmm....hairballs! Hope it cleaned up well! That is the price you pay for such a beautiful, long-haired cat. :cat:

Okay I called my TA she has my docs at her house I can pick them up on Saturday

Dad is doing good thanks everyone for your prayers.

SouthernMouse - congrats on the new addition

Elf - welcome aboard

I must work now will chat more later.

Hi Party Elf - we're also from PA - border of Lancaster/Chester counties. Have many friends up your way in Q-town. Glad to have you aboard.

Keri - Congratulations on your news! Guess that'll make you the designated driver for the pub tour.

Got a letter from DS's principal yesterday that the trip has been excused as "educational." Now, if the UPS man would just bring those docs!! Filled DD's carryon yesterday with those "just in case" things. That way, if she leaves her bag sit somewhere by accident, we won't be missing anything too important. Today, I'm going to work on some more packing. We're starting to get very excited here!!!!
