Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Hi all, I have booked this cruise for myself, my Mum and my daughter (6) who will turn 7 on the last day of the cruise.

We are coming from Australia and are going to spend time before and after the cruise at Disneyland, Legoland, some time in LA and lots of shopping.

DD does not know about the cruise and this will be her early birthday surprise.

Welcome aboard.
This will be a WONDERful birthday for your DD.

G'day meandmygirl :) - we are celebrating our twins 5th birthdays a couple of months early and doing the same sort of destinations as yourselves. Wise idea not telling DD, we told our two the day we booked in back in July and we are asked daily if today is the day we are going to America to meet Mickey Mouse.

:welcome: Sue and John! Can't wait, can't wait. DCL will get their plans out for San Diego eventually. We did the PC earlier this year and they had them out so that I could book at my 120 days so I would guess March/April. Isn't there a cruise with the same itinerary as ours that sails before we do??

:welcome: Meandmygirl! I don't envy your flight time but look forward to meeting you on our trip. That is a LONG way but I would love to visit at some point.

Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Hello all! I am so excited about this cruise! I am Amy and am booked with my DH, John, and 2 DD Riley (will be 6 on cruise) and Brynn (will be 4). We're also sailing with my DH brother and family.

We took the Alaska cruise last year and I fell in love with DCL. Couldn't wait to get on another one. Grew up in Anaheim and worked at DL for 7 years, still can't get enough of it. Totally new experience through my girls' eyes now.

I'm up for a FE is anyone else is. Just looking at ebay for an extender.

Still learning these message boards, but will have to be happy with your countdowns til I figure out how to get one!

:cheer2:

:welcome: amysings! I booked this trip with one of the dummy trips I had booked when we sailed last October as a surprise for my DH (we sail on his birthday). This will be cruise number 14 for us. Our boys are grown and we are sailing alone.

I think I will be up for the FE group as well - I just need to get that all done while he is out and about this summer.

Take care!

Laura and I are right there with you.
This will be our 12th DCL cruise but 1st without children. Youngest DD starts college in the fall and DW will have her birthday a few days before we embark. We are looking forward to a different, but still wonderful cruise.

Yay, I feel one step closer to Disney right now. I've booked our all our accomodation for the 15 nights in California prior to the Wonder cruise.:banana::banana: Can't wait, the kids are super excited to be staying at a place right across from Disneyland (we rented a condo) and Legoland (yay for renting spare timeshare weeks at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort in Carlsbad).

Now we have to figure out what's a good car/SUV to rent that the mini-me's can see out the back of, we once made the mistake of renting something they couldn't see out of and we had one very carsick child for a week. If anyone has any sage advice on what to rent that kids can see out of in the back and will haul all our luggage (okay it's not a great amount to start with but we are staying close to an outlet mall...) I'd be grateful.

My kids are turning into Wonder factoids, everyone gets a drop of information about the ship these days. :rotfl:

I'd like to do FE Exchange too, just got to think of something Kiwi and light to pack.

Hello all, it will be DH and myself only on this Disney Cruise. :woohoo:

We've been on the Magic 2 yrs ago. Took our college age DS and DD (Gig em Aggies! :thumbsup2) recently on the 5 night Dream and booked this cruise for just the 2 of us!!! We will be celebrating our 29th anniversary!!!

So as you can see...we have no problem doing a Disney Cruise without the kiddos.

We just love San Fran and have relatives living in San Diego that we plan to visit when the ship docks there!!!!

:welcome: disneystick! Another couple joining our ranks. Our boys are grown and married (or will be by the time we sail) and on their own so DH and I cruise every chance we get (this will be #14). I have this booked for DH's birthday and he doesn't know (yet anyway) we are going. My dilemma is huge though - we are also booked on the Dream that sails the same day! Clueless what to do but I can't be in two places at once. I keep hinting trying to get him to say he would be interested in this itinerary but no luck yet.

COLD here in Cadillac - single digits when I got up but the sun is shining and it is now a balmy 15 degrees. We have at least half a foot of snow so could be no more seeing the bare ground for me until April - can't get over how warm it has been up until now.

Take care and enjoy your weekend!

glindamood...Thank you for the welcome!

The Dream is a beautiful ship...but she sails 3/4 days....vs. the Wonder sails for 7. I would take the Wonder!!!!

Plus, as nice as Castaway Cay is.....Nassau was just ok for us...been there 3 times so not really that interesting any more. However we LOVEEEEEE SF....have been there 2 times and walking around there is very easy to all the sites for us. Just can't enough of SF yet.

I actually booked the Magic out of Galveston for the same time and decided to switch to the Wonder since the ports was more interesting for us. Which meant we now need airfare...cruise out of Galveston was only a 1hr. drive away from home. Plus, we figured it would be kinda cool to say, we've sailed on the Magic, Dream soon to be Wonder and hopefully the Fantasy after that.

Good luck on your decision, or should I say sway your hubby to go the Wonder!!!

Gail,

We had the Dream and the Magic booked at the same time this December. We ended up transferring the Magic to this cruise.

DW, Laura did her graduate work at TAMU and TAMU is one of the 8 schools DD is looking at attending.

Whoop!!!

DD goes to main campus and is a sophmore majoring in Forensic investigative science. DS is a Sea Aggie in the Corp and goes to TAMUG (only official sister school to TAMU), he is a sr. majoring in Marine Transportation and now in Jan we get to invest in that big gold Aggie ring for him. He was more excited about that then Christmas gifts from the family. His dream job....with his degree and license....he can be captain of a Disney ship one day! :rotfl: pirate:

They both love TAMU and all the traditions. Once your DD checks out all the colleges, she will get a better feel to which school is a good fit for her. Thats what we did and it just so happens that both of mine picked TAMU. Makes it so much easier during football season. :happytv:

Well, the cat is out of the bag - no more surprise for DH but he is OK and the airfare is booked so we are official! We even spent some time looking at excursions. I want to do the Walt Museum but him - not so much. Anyone been? Is it worth it? We are also interested in Alcatraz and Muir Woods. Hopefully they get the San Diego excursions nailed down soon as well.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Glindamood we'd like to do Alcatraz too but I don't know what to do with the boys during that time. :confused3 There's loads we want to do in SF but most likely independantly from DCL. We'll probably stay onboard during the San Diego port day as we will have just spent a week there. Or maybe we'll go back to the Midway, I can see us going there more than once.

So far this sailing seems to be more adults with university/college aged children. I hope there's going to be plenty of little people in the kids clubs, one of my boys keeps telling me he's going on the Wonder 'to play with American children'.

You can leave them in the club while you do any excursion you choose, if you all would be OK with that. So far I have only looked at the DCL excursions as that gives me ideas for what is available. Sometimes we do things on our own and sometimes we do excursions through DCL.

I also think that our group will continue to grow as the time gets closer. I am so looking forward to meeting everyone.

Take care and have a good day.
