Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Diva Mary wants our families to take advantage of this offer and go in August before the kids go back to school....what do y'all think :confused3
all I can think about is the heat! :scared:

Heat? Woman--you live in TEXAS, for goodness' sake! You can do heat with one hand tied behind your back! ;) If free dining is really going to start on August 16 (at least for some), I predict there will be a whole lotta Pop Tarts doing just as Diva Mary suggested. :crowded: popcorn:: :drinking1 :crowded:

Speaking of dates, where's my pin??? I so want to move our trip up a week, and fear that if we have to wait for the general public offer (if there is one) the dates will not be the same. :sad2: Oh well--take what you can get, right?

Yes.. one of this days I plan to marry one of those bellhops... better yet forget about marrying I am just gonna take his job :thumbsup2

frequent trips... this is my Disney Math on the frequesnt trips... If I drive to go fishing in NJ... for one way tank of gas (my car loves to drink premium:crazy2: ) that would cost me about $30 plus $5 toll... and going home... that would be $35 plus $4 dollars again for toll... total of $74... then if I got lazy to go home then I am gonna end up staying over... the cheapest hotel stay would be about $99 plus tax about $110... so total of $184...

if I get a good Ding... like my trip for June...have the AP ticks already... I got a rt of $110... I got 2 nights POP for $140 total of $250 for 2 nights against $184 for one night... for another $66 I can enjoy seeing the World... :scratchin Food??? well I still need to go to a restaurant and eat at NJ... so I will just have to eat at WDW then :beach:

You're preaching to the choir--every time we price another vacation, we always end up saying "but we could go to WDW for less, and have more fun!"

And I think you would make an excellent bellhop.

the problem is the bellhop will be missing... I will have to make sure I get them to safety.. i will be on every single ride with them... Elevator will now only hold 20 guest :rotfl2: instead of 21:flower3: :crowded:

Wow am I behind. I have been sucked into a game on facebook and neglecting the disboards. lol I agree completely with what thunderbird says about the discounts. Hi by the way long time no dis. It's great to hear from you!!!

I also want to know why the heck I have never ever gotten a discount email or pin? There was once a thread showing where people lived who got pins and they seem to send a most to like NC and the states near Florida as well as lots to people in Indiana. Illinois got a few but not many and the furthur west you went the fewer they seemed. Either that or there are fewer disers from those areas.

That said I would love a free dining code for June or one of the $500 visa card offers so I can add to my June trip so I can go Monday to Friday and skp the weekend. Think Disney might read this and send me a code? lol

As for the Visa card the best would be to get a one day ticket and upgrade the ticket with the $500 Visa or keep it for a future trip and apply it to the next vacation. I am sure if you booked a room only for the weekend you could apply it to everything after the deposit as long as the weekend is at the end of the vacation and not the beginning. KWIM

Timmy,
When it comes to Disney we can all justify the cost especially when we have access to the best deals. Remember when DH kept me out driving from store to store the day after Thanksgiving and I said that with how long we were driving I could have been 3/4 of the way to Disney and would rather be in lower GA than out shopping still. Everything can be compared to Disney in my world. lol

Kristin,
Don't you love the heat yet? I would gladly take 100 degrees and humid after this winter. I complain about cold but very rarely if ever will I complain about heat. When at Disney in August/September I have a hard time swimming at night because I get so chilled to the bone I have to go to the room and take a hot shower to warm back up. I also keep the A/C in the room as high as it goes usually 72-74. Anything 55 degrees and below you will find me in my long down coat with a hat with ear flaps and gloves. Now standing in the hot sun at WDW in August/September with a bunch of people with no understanding of personal space standing on top of you is reason to complain about being over heated. lol I thought you were already doing the free dining bounce back in October 09?

I hope everyone has a great weekend. It is supposed to be 50 degrees half the day tomorrow so that will be a real treat.

Ang

Good morning everyone! Boy have I missed a lot of WDW talk. We went yesterday and hit all four parks. Arrived at 10:00am ,started at DHS, rode Toy Story, tried to ride ST but it broke just as we got on it. Went to AK, rode the Safari, walked the trails, and then actually rode KRR, it was 60 degrees. Luckily we weren't the wet ones. On to Epcot, ate some lunch, grabbed FP's for Mission: Space, on to MK, rode Buzz and Astro Orbitor, then back to Epcot for MS. Left about 6:30pm. The :cool1: thing was getting to be co-pilots on the Monorail with another mother and soon from Epcot to MK. Jacob didn't know you could do that. Of course after that, he kept getting upset that we couldn't do it every time. Crowds weren't bad, even with the Universal Cheerleading competition going on.

Diva K, I know what you mean about the heat in Florida. It really is a different heat. People laugh when in TX and it is 115 and you say, "Oh, its a dry heat!"

Sounds like a lot of you will be here this Summer, maybe we can meet up. I plan on going a lot. I have gotten a code in the mail, but never any emails.

Hope the sun is out for everyone and you are starting to thaw!
Melissa

Timmy--Mmmm, slushie drinks. The best ones are in France. :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :faint:

Ang! :wave2: Glad to be back among friends. :grouphug: If we can't get pins, at least we have each other, lol. Too funny about your black Friday shopping adventure. I'd rather be almost anywhere else than shopping, especially in the crowds. :crowded: :scared: And I'll take heat over cold any day, too! We've done a couple of December/January WDW trips, and every single one, someone tells us "it isn't usually this cold here." I had to spend most of those trips bundled up in jeans, sweatshirts and jackets. And the pools? Fuhgeddaboudit! Speaking of which. . .

Melissa--KRR in this weather? Brave, brave soul. Not to mention 4 parks in one day. :worship: My family (ahem, dh) is so slow, the only way we could accomplish that would be to :teleport:.

Have a great weekend all!

Hi girls:wave2: Back among the living after spending the last week @ LMT. Not one thing entire week:crazy2: Snow is melting, around 50 today:cheer2:
Is everyone set for their bounceback date? I need to tweek & make changes quick since there is a new FDP code out for those dates.
Hoping paint kitchen today:faint:
Great weekend to all:flower3:

not popular Ms. Linda.. I just have good friends who let me tag along with their trips... so yup I am at their/your mercy... friends who even though I get on their nerves bending their ear till the wee hours of the night :lmao: are still nice enough to overlook my short comings and still nice enough not to hide or put me on caller block :rotfl2:

Timmy, someone has you on caller block, I don't believe that! Everyone talks to you! ::yes::

Happy Saturday everyone, I'm off to take the dog in to get her nails trimmed....I'm tired of her ripping the skin on my arm off.

Shawn's at work, Kellie is with my niece trying on bridesmaid dresses for my nieces wedding in August...I'm all alone right now, and it's AWESOME! :thumbsup2

Talk to you later!

Kathy

Is everyone set for their bounceback date? I need to tweek & make changes quick since there is a new FDP code out for those dates.
I thought our dates were set...then Diva Mary had this bright idea...we would do August instead of October...the benefits being we could drive and the kids wouldn't miss any school...downside is the heat and crowds...when I mentioned this to DH he said, It must not be too crowded if they are making all these offers :scratchin

We have learned to tolerate the heat more (85 isn't hot anymore...90 is comfortable :rolleyes2 ) but I don't relish it...I also don't spend 12+ hours in it at one time...I am usually in my air conditioned house or in my air conditioned car driving to another air conditioned location...
slushie drinks would help...EPCOT is the place for them...but a Dole Whip @MK with pirate's water (rum) isn't bad either!

Jennifer and Ang, you gave me a lot of good advice. I am fairly intelligent but I am also simple minded. I have many varied opinions on any one subject but tend to do things one at a time as I just do not think on that kind of level. :thumbsup2 What thread do you gals get on where they talk about how to do such things? I need all the advice I can get. One would think that a former Coupon Queen would know all the angles. :lmao:

Timmie, what works for a single gal would not work so well for those of us who travel in multiples. If I had your circumstances I would do as you do in a flat out second. I am glad that you can though. So the popular folk just let you hang around them cause they feel sorry for you or something?:rotfl2:

Diva K, I am with the ones who say you should go for it. You are used to the heat and are young enough to withstand it in any case. This means you would take hubbies and kids this trip? Maybe the dh's would take the kids once in awhile so that you guys could get your Diva on? You could take turns taking care of the kids at night so that each couple could have a night on their own. All sort of possibilities. Heck, go for an extra room and shove all the kids in there. They would enjoy getting away from YOU as much as you would enjoy being away from them.

Wic, have you seen that new thing they have out where you can trim the dog's nails, safely, yourself? I saw that invention on the TV show and thought it a great idea. I should get one for Tom. :rotfl:

Speaking of Tom, I took him to get his hair cut with a coupon and he came out looking like he had just got out of prison. His hair does not grow as fast as mine so it will last for awhile.

JM, I could just see your little ones eyes on getting to ride up front. I have thought about it but am chicken. How are the crowds? I read that they shut down the luau and Blizzard Beach because it was too cold!:crazy2:

Bonz, LMT is a hospital?????? What is wrong??? Snow melting here too. Dirty stuff. What color are you painting the kitchen? I would rather paint than wash myself. It is easier, much easier.

I agree about DW being more bang for your buck, even with the cutbacks. If all else fails we are guaranteed to find folks who are fun to talk with. :grouphug:

Yep, hubbies and kiddos on this trip...already discussed watching each other's kids while the other couples have some alone time...heck Diva Mary and her DH owe me & my DH big time since we watched their girls for a week when they went to DW alone in November! :scratchin
BTW The Divas can get their groove on around the DHs and kids...they may not like it...besides Mary has two Divas in Training! princess: princess:
We are already planning on all the kids taking part in the Kim Possible missions @World showcase while the parents partake in some of those slushie drinks Timmie mentioned! :drinking1

OMG, I so want a grey goose right now:upsidedow Painting kitchen dove grey, trying to model HGTV new kitchen. We will see:scratchin DH had to paint ceilings, we are still not done. Calling it a day for now.
LMT= Last Minute Travel. I was trying to score one of the hotels for $1.00, didn't work:sad1: I bet I put in 70+ hours and never once got the opportunity. People stayed up for days on end, think we've been taken for a ride:rotfl2:
later gators
Diva go in Aug but be sure to add water parks. You will be fine:goodvibes

Diva K, I am sorry. I honestly to do not have the vaguest idea of what a normal family vacation might be let alone one that includes close friends. :confused3 :lmao:

All my suggestions were from my vivid imagination.

I echo Bonz and remember to go early, return to the resort mid day for the kids to swim or nap, and go back in the evening. With the short hours that might not be necessary though. Am I the only ones who LIKES the short hours? :flower3:

You will be driving? Lots of room for snacks. :cheer2:

Pirates Cove miniature golf over by DTD has always looked like fun. Sea World and that other place, whose name I dare not mention, are nearby as well. I liked Sea World.

The possibilities are endless. I am so excited for you all.

This is the same gang of families that went together in May 2007 (sans Diva Missy's family.) :grouphug:
Diva Becky & Diva Mary are former CP so they know all the ins & outs of the parks...and what they don't know I find out on the Dis! :rotfl: :rotfl:
We all drove then to and it was nice not to have to worry about forbidden liquid issues on the plane. :rolleyes2
We have a Sea World here in San Antonio so thats not a must see but Diva Mary & her DH went to Discovery Cove to scuba dive in November and can't wait to go back! :hyper:

Linda,
To hear about deals I go to the resorts board and then there is a codes thread. There is always someone on there who will price out the different plans and tell you which saves the most. I also hit the mousesavers website for info.

Sounds like your DH is looking good but I bet he's cold with all his hair gone.

So how are the grandkids? Sounds like you are enjoying your time with them.

Kristin,
Sounds like a blast going to WDW with all your friends. I was hoping to get to meet you in October but it sounds like you won't be there at the same time as us now. There is always next time though.

Bonz,
I am so, so sorry about LMT and I should have emailed you but I heard rumor that they ended the contest on Tuesday. I am not sure if the rumors were true but I hope you forgive me for not telling you. You didn't miss much though since I got through twice to the video and both times the video froze up and never let me through to the $1 rooms. I can say one thing and that is that if they are that unorgaized I won't be spending any money with them in the future for fear I would end up in the wrong hotel in the wrong city. lol

So did all the snow melt for you today? A lot melted here but there are a lot of huge piles that will be around for quite a while yet. We actually got up to 54 degrees here and it was wonderful.

Let me know if you change your bounceback dates. I hope it is when I will be there.

Melissa,
It sounds like you had a blast doing all the parks the other day. I have never done 4 parks in one day and would be afraid to try. lol

Wic,
I just cut my dog's nails the other day and dang do they grow fast. My one dog is a bear to get her to stay still while cutting them. She would rather pull her leg off than get her nails cut. I won't take her to the vet though because she ends up bleeding all over the place when I take her there because she is more anxious there than at home.

So when are you going back to Disney? Did you do bounceback too? We are going in October this year.

Jennifer,
When is it you will be at Disney? Excuse me if you said it before I can't remember anything lately.

Ang

We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave! :beach: And I certainly can, can can!:lmao: There are bits of pieces of green showing between the mounds of white snow! Hope is renewed!

Diva K, I am always amazed at how a family, let alone a group of families can agree on what to do and when. One of the few benefits of Tom being Tom is that he just follows me around and seldom disagrees. On those occasions I give in cause he really does not insist on much, except when he throws a fit cause a parade is not on right exactly when he wants it to be! Have you all eaten at Wolfgang Puck's Express, the one down by the theater? If not I think you would enjoy it and since there is outdoors seating it would be comfortable for the little ones too. The food is fantastic and it is a CS!

Ang, I read the Codes every single day. I see some of the posts but I fear my ability to retain is much less than yours. :rotfl: I just made a spreadsheet for me to compare offers. I am pining my hopes on the fact that I believe they will offer the Free Dining in late Nov/early December once again. That would be my dream. I think it was even possible to get reduced room rates last time too. I asked Tom which he would prefer more days during the summer free dining or fewer days at Christmas time and he did not disappoint, it was holiday decorations all the way. Tom looks pitiful, like a shorn poodle. My grandsons always insisted that I cut their nails because I would not cut them. They thought I was magic. I am. :lmao:

Cleaning computer files and backing up to external hard drive and then to the laptop. Desktop is acting up. Time for a new computer? I wish.

SG

JM, I could just see your little ones eyes on getting to ride up front. I have thought about it but am chicken. How are the crowds? I read that they shut down the luau and Blizzard Beach because it was too cold!:crazy2:

There were only about 3 groups of people on the monorail platform so I thought I would give it a try and ask. He told us to go to the front. Well, it was just the regualar line so I thought we weren't going to get to ride in the cockpit, but then he opened up the cockpit door and let us in and told the family behind us two more could jump in and the mother and son did. I wish I had taken a pic for them, could have emailed it or told them I would post it here.

I would imagine they would shut down BB. The line for KRR didn't start until you got to the point where the FP and Standby line merged, so only about 20 or so people deep. In the morning all of the fountains kids can play in were turned off, but the ones there in Epcot were on in the afternoon. Jacob wanted a pic under the umbrella at DHS, but it was turned off.:sad2:

Melissa,
It sounds like you had a blast doing all the parks the other day. I have never done 4 parks in one day and would be afraid to try. lol

Ang

I don't think Jacob enjoyed it, but I saw it as a challenge and wanted to see if it could be done. Of course we didn't do much, just some of our favorite rides, well Jacob's favorite rides. I think I am paying for it now because I am sick again. But DH is sick also so it may be something the last cold front blew in.

Diva K, that sounds like fun to go with another family. Can't imagine driving though. We were ourselves out when we go to WDW, we probably wouldn't be safe in the car again. How long will it take you? Our move we spent 3 days, but that was each of us driving a car and dealing with the kiddo and 3 dogs. We also had 3 more hours to dirve, we lived west of San Antonio.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Melissa

JM, sounds like a whole lot of fun going on and not too bad with the crowds. That is a mixed blessing as lower crowds usually mean a few less attractions but we deal don't we? :thumbsup2

It is a small pleasure to be able to take a picture and mail it later to some strangers. I do it often but every once in awhile you meet someone who does not want to give you their home address. I can see their point, I guess. I put my daughters phone number and address on my luggage cause you hear stories about folks being robbed when people know they are not home. Not sure crooks have gas money nowadays but you never know! :) I think my favorite picture was of the honeymoon couple dancing at the Biergarten. And of course, the children, always the children. :cheer2:

Did you freeze or were you prepared?

SG

Did you freeze or were you prepared?

SG

Some of my plants did. Guess I should have gotten out and covered them. We have hedges lining the sides of the house and one whole side is now brown.:sad2:

That is a good idea to put a different address on the luggage. I always worry about the house when we are gone, but we have insurance and an alarm system, so guess we are covered as well as we can be. It's just stuff.

Oh, on the subject of theives. Not until we had moved in did I realize there is a prison behind our house. I thought there was another subdivision between us and it, but got to looking at Google Earth and learned it is just on the other side of the conservation lot behind our house.:scared1: My neighbor heard that the criminals there weren't the bad ones, just minor crimes.

Kristin,

Nothing is set in stone...in fact it may not happen at all, August or October...:sad2:
Diva Mary's DH is giving her grief over the trip (job issues, economy, $$$) and Diva Becky and her DH are just having issues...my DH is the easy one! ;)

We don't try to do everything together...we may all go to the same park but split up and then meet back up, off and on all day...we try to all get together for at least one meal a day :grouphug:
Diva Becky mentioned Wolfgang Puck's Express for our trip last September but we never made it to DTD :hourglass

We do it in two days...usually spending the night in Daphne, AL...but maybe after our marathon drive to PA at Christmas I might talk DH into doing it all at once! :drive:
