Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Uh-oh...It's starting!

A few nights ago I dreamt I was on board but my daughter was not, she was getting on at the next port. I got off to meet her only to realize I hadn't taken any ID with me and had no way to get back on the ship! :sad2:

Last night: First there was a major storm with huge swells (yikes), then the family staying next door used our room as an entry way and 5 loud kids went traipsing through...that and two servers were using my room as a dressing room. :scared1: When I went to guest services to complain the fellow mocked me! :headache:

I can't wait to see what I think of next!

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:
sorry to laugh...but i couldn't help it....maybe you "want" to start drinking????

We are all getting very excited here too!
We have booked BW with Park & Sail (parking for 14 days incl.) near Vancouver airport for night before - includes tranfers to cruise ship. Might come down to Van even earlier and stay Sun night too.

We will be getting off in Victoria for a little wander down to the BC liquor store as well - so we don't have to carry as much onboard Day 1.

Just 17 days to go and 7 more pounds to lose. Not sure I'll make it, but I'm trying. :confused3

Finished my packing list (couldn't find last years) a combo of three lists.;)

I marked a map for our grandkids (our younger daughter and grandkids live with us) to follow our trip. It is just 10 days this time, a far cry from last years WBTA and 26 days away. :)

Today was Kathy's last day of her part-time job and she starts a new full-time job the day after we get back. :dance3:

Our older daughter, Kristyne, who is going on the cruise with us is not counting down the days as she is designing a set for a play that opens the weekend before we leave, (she is a Stage Manager but is doing set design for the experience). She started full-time at her daycare and is doing the set design in her "spare time." :scared1: The cruise will be a nice break for her. :yay:

I narrowed my list of "things to do" in Victoria and Ensenada. :woohoo:

Now if I can get rid of this summer cold , that has been holding on for two weeks now, I will be ready. Off to the doctor on Tuesday. :rolleyes1

You too?!? DH and I both have colds right now too (stuffy nose, sore eyes, cough etc), and the kids just have the snuffles. We are all on the mend though and its getting better, so I'm forecasting health for everyone by the time we board :)
I hope you feel better before then as well! :thumbsup2

Kewl way to get rid of all the bad luck BEFORE the cruise!

I haven't had any "cruise dreams" lately, but I have had them before. They usually consist of bring at the port ready to board, and everyone is on the ship except for us and for some reason we can't get on, because of not having the right papers, etc. I've also dreamt (not sure if dreamt is a word..?) that we couldn't find our way to the dining rooms no matter which way we'd go and we'd end up missing dinner. lol

:yay::yay: We got an email from our TA yesterday saying Disney gave us an upgrade so we're now in room 8036 :woohoo: Talk about pixie dust! I read some room reports that say it can be a bit noisy but I figure it can't be any noisier than our house on an average day :lmao: .

So part of me is a bit cheesed off...I've spent all summer memorizing one cabine number, studying deck plans, etc. etc....Now In have to 'realign' my brain :rotfl:

On the WBTA we were in room 8040, 2 doors down. (the Magic) I had heard a bunch about the noise from the upper deck. I'm a light and fitful sleeper. I was fine. Great room. Right over the stabilzers, so minimum rocking. We LOVED this room.

That's great pixie dust! We've sailed Cat 3 midship suites and I thought the elevator noise would be awful, but you can't hear a thing. You can sometimes hear the CMs dragging the chaise lounge chairs across the deck in the morning, but it's not too bad. We had little ones and I was worried about the nighttime noise on deck 9, but it was never a problem for naps or nighttime sleep. Enjoy!:thumbsup2

Kewl way to get rid of all the bad luck BEFORE the cruise!

While I hope this trip is smooth sailing all the way some of my best vacations were full of mishaps....funny in hind sight with great tales to tell....

I have a similar dream about being back in high school...I HATE THAT DREAM! :lmao:

Great news!!! What a nice suprise!!

I've had some good news too: Yesterday I got a phone call from a woman who owns a business that was right next door to my old job. She said she's known my boss/owner for over 20 years and was so sorry to hear of the business's demise. Then she went on to say that my boss and the company's owner had told her what an excellent worker I was and she had an opening she thought I'd be perfect for!!!!! We meet next week and she said I could start after the cruise!!....I'm on cloud 9!

I cannot believe it is almost a year since I started this thread and all of the things that have happened.

I retired.

My son moved out of the house.

My wife retired.

re-did the dining room.

Congress took a large chunk out of my retirement savings with their fight over the debt limit. (Glad this trip is already paid for)

Daughter started senior year of college.

Hurricane Irene and some basement flooding. Cleaned out the basement :(

In a couple of weeks we drop the dogs off at doggie camp and we are off to Vancouver and the Great Disney Adventure!

Hope everyone else is hanging in there. I will spend some time catching up on the 100 or so messages in the thread since I last had enough brains to actually read this.

Really, really, really ready to start this vacation.

Yay for pixie dust :)
If you don't want to worry about remembering a new number, I'd be happy to take the room for you, lol.

I updated the 1st post in the thread with the two meets I could find and the FE list. Please send me any corrections or additions.

Sorry I haven't been around to fulfill my position.

Thanks
Bob

Oh waaaahhh...;)

On a "cruise" I went on in 2007, I had the upper bunk in this room:

Know what was right over my head? The number 2 catapult on the USS Ronald Reagan... And flight ops didn't end until 2 AM. :headache: After that, they had to re-spot the deck so they were dragging chains and chocks across the deck until dawn. It sounded like Jacob Marley's ghost...

Thank you. I consider myself very fortunate (in many ways).

(ps..I realized I didn't capitolize any of my "I's" in my post..shame on me!)

:banana: Congrats - hard work does pay off in the long run and someone does notice it - great way to end a cruise by starting a new job.

Note to self - "Buy travel health insurance" - don't want to get caught sick outside of home Province. Better safe than sorry and broke.
