Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

I'm still unsure what we will be packing for clothing, lol. I know it should be a bit warmer down south than it is here in BC, but it will also be cooler at sea than it is on land...

Right now in our area in lower-mid BC it has been around 28*C lately, with a few cooler/hotter days thrown in the mix. Really weird weather, lol. So I have no idea what it will be like at the time of our cruise. I'll probably go by what the weather seems like the week before we leave, but pack slightly warmer for at sea.

Anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like in LA when we get there? Should we bring shorts?

So what is this FE Exchange? I read through most of this thread but was still unsure of what it as all about. We are on Deck 6 port side slightly forward of midships. I don't remember the stateroom number off hand.

Dress in layers, make sure you have a warm fleece and maybe some light gloves. It's very cool in the mornings now, This morning at my house it was 26F. Afternoons are warmer, today we will have a high of 56F. ( We are about 100m from Skagway.) Trees are changing colour right now, (yes we have autumn is August) so it is very scenic right now.

Crystal-will your family be wearing those cute tie dyed shirts? If so, it will be easy to find you at the port....

We hit 84 degrees today in San Diego, and Disneyland area hit somewhere around 90 degrees today. Can we trade weather?

I called the cruise line today and asked that question. There are no formal nights, only on cruises of 7 days or longer. No t-shirts, cutoff's shorts, etc are wanted, but I was told that a good pair of jeans is fine for dining in the main areas. Semi formal, I guess might be the word I'm looking for, though those with more cruise experience may know better. Better than cruise casual??

Now, that being said, I was also told that the 3rd night is a "dress up" night. I was told that they will go around in the dining room and take pictures of you for you to buy, but it seemed that how "dressed up" you wanted to be was up to you.

The 4th night would be Pirate night. There will be lots of pirates on board but they are all friendly pirates so please leave your realistic weapons at home. Not sure about the fakey fakey ones. The only unfriendly pirate on board will be Captain Hook.

That's the word I got today, if anyone hears differently, please post and let us all know. Gotta find me a pirate outfit...argh!

I do the dockers and polo shirt for cruise casual and slacks and button up shirt with tie for semi-formal and thanks to my wife we will be wearing Pirate Costumes she made. pirate:
I was trying to do this years WBTA but wasn't working out SOOOO then i FOUND this GREAT group to sail with!!!!

I would love to do the WBTA again, it will take a couple years to save up again. Hoping for a two week cruise to Hawaii in 2013.:dance3:

We loved our EBTA, but I'd like to try a WBTA. The time change going east was painful.
I can't even imagine going east since I have the most horrible time with jet lag. However, going west with the five days in a row of gaining an extra hour each day really took its toll on me by day four. I got so tired and just wanted to nap.

Loved the extra hour each night on WBTA and I don't think I could handle losing an hour each night on EBTA. :scared1:
I know what you mean about wardobe. I am having the HARDEST time with that. I don't want to buy too many "Winter" wear, because we really don't need it here. I am hoping that what I have will suffice.

I will post pictures, but you will probably have to walk me through it, as I have a hard time with that. Heck, I might even do a trip report.

Have fun, and will chat with you soon.

Layers for us and I will look at 10 day extended weather :surfweb:for Vancouver, Victoria, Ensenada, and Anaheim before final packing.
Great photos everyone! Everyone looks great :)

So anyone else arriving early at the port? I have a feeling we will be there before it opens, lol. But I'm just so excited, I wouldn't have it any other way. Hoping to possibly get an upgrade on our room if its not too much. Would love to have a window!

Ditto on great photos and welcome to the new posters. We are very excited and it will be hard to wait as port check-in isn't until 12pm. We need to find something to do that morning to distract us. :cool1:

not sure what the forecast is but last weekend - it was hot (96ish F) and humid on friday - Sat & Sun was also warm 90+ but low humidity!!!

the FE exchange is an exchange of gifts between all those who choose to participate. those who do will have a "fish extender" which is like a bag with pockets to hold the gifts that are delivered. Cutoff to join is tues 8/30...and you would need to let Jennifer know so she can add all your info to the list...

boo! still no cruise doc! :(

what's in it anyways?

Just the luggage tags (that has your stateroom number on them so your luggage gets delivered to the right room)
And a booklet of information -don't worry yours are bound to arrive any day now

New to our thread??? Welcome aboard!!!! Who is all traveling with you & where are you from....

New? Well, first post on it. I've been trying to follow it for a few months for info, since it's our groups first cruise. Travelling with wife and 18 y/o daughter, my sister and her husband and their 4 kids, 16, 12, 11 and 7, and my other sister. We're all from the Lower Mainland area here in BC, so you could say from Vancouver, though I live slightly north of that.

Thank you so much. I actually bought a fleece jacket a few months ago specifically for this trip. And will definitely dress in layers. Thanks again. You all have fun on your trip.

I haven't rec'd mine yet either....:confused3

who did you book your travel with? DCL direct or a Travel agent? If you don't receive them by Tuesday (3 wks till sail date - i'd call them)....if lost they may need to reissue - at least the luggage tags....everything else that's pertinent is done online

I booked directly with DCL, and the only thing I really need is the luggage tags. The rest of the package isn't really required....

I was reading another thread where the couple didn't receive their tags either and when they called Disney, they were told it would be a (don't quote me) $15 charge to have them reissued. They weren't into paying for something they didn't lose in the first place so the rep said just grab blank ones at the terminal.

Received our documents today. They were mailed by our TA on the 18th, but I guess it just took a bit longer for the ride south of the border!

We did receive the notice that our docs for the next cruise was sent a couple days back, so we won't look for those until next week sometime.....

Last weekend was SOOOOO much better - being at Disneyland the D23 expo. DS has been packing up his room all evening; guess we're leaving about 7:30 am to get him back to school....going to be pretty quiet (and sad) around here....so thankful to have the wkend in the city for the Giants game & this cruise only a few wks away :)
