Greetings to Ana, Ruben, Mario, Theresa, Andrew and one more whose name escapes me but is as equally important!
We are Julie and Chris from the North of England. Ana, my sister lives in Marbella and her kids speak fluent Spanish and everyone there assumes they are Spanish. Thanks for the tips on Barcelona, all of us are worried about the pick pockets otherwise we expect to love it.

Today I am packing :woohoo: I`m trying clothes on and the good news is the "gold creation" aka the formal dress can be fastened up with only DH to help. At one point I thought I was going to have to ask for volunteers or bring my mother and the shop assistant along, as up to now, thats the only way I`ve got into it!
I`m leaving loads of stuff out and Dh`s pile of clothes is looking very meagre. I`m sure he`ll manage :rotfl2:

So I outsmarted myself.....I was not supposed to have my physical until sometime in October....but since I am a Type 2 diabetic I have been on medication that I take by mouth. I figured since we would be on the ship for 2 weeks and probably eating things we never usually eat I would have the physical early. So I had it today--having the blood work last week. Doctor was not happy with the numbers so he is changing my medication to an injectable medication which I have to do myself each day. So now I have medication that needs to be refrigerated and now I have to also carry needles with me. So we will be flying for over 8 hours, so I guess I will have to ask the flight attendants to refrigerate it for me and will have to go through all the security checkpoints with needles. I am so smart....could not just leave things alone until we got back......doctor gave me a note that I need to carry the medication with me on the plane along with the needles....Just something else to worry about.
Tom

Tom, if it is any help, I have medication just like yours. I do not refrigerate it on the plane. When you receive it, you should get a travel case with a ice pack. I just keep it in my carry on. I have traveled international with it before and have NEVER been questioned by any airline. I did send DCL a fax asking them for a container in my cabin to put the syringes in. It really helps! It is always on your mind, but not as difficult to travel as you think. I hope that helps! Sending a

Tom, maybe you make it easier to buy the medication you need in a Spanish pharmacy before boarding the ship. If you tell me the name I can tell you whether the same trade name in Spain, and if it is readily available. In any case, if I can help on something I will be delighted (both my husband and I work in a hospital).

We are Barry and Teresa from Alabama, traveling with DS Andrew (23) and with all of you. Sorry we are too late to join in most of your activities, but we hope to meet many of you on the cruise. We are in room 8042 and on second dining. Have decided to forgo formal nights this trip as it is too much to carry the extra clothing (we have to bring the pirate stuff of course). We are on the flight leaving Atlanta on the 17th arriving on the 18th in Barcelona. Hope to get a quick tour of the city before the cruise. This is my 7th Disney cruise and 7 days never seemed like enough. Will be interesting to see how 14 days will be. I hope everyone has a safe and uneventful trip to Barcelona. See you on the cruise. :mickeyjum

Welcome! We are on the same flight!!! My name is Sandi, traveling with my daughter Abby and Goofy Granny, Sandra! Cannot wait to see you!!!

Well I plucked up courage to go and try on Marks and Spencer's version of the high waisted Spanx. More comfortable than I expected, though I didn't go too small a size. Not sure it held me in much, but it did smooth everywhere. However, 2 problems. I have slim legs(in relation to my body), and the legs were a little loose. Not an elegant look, but then again the whole thing isn't what you would call elegant!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: but it wasn't a good look for sure.;) The other thing is that even though I pulled it up under my bra, or pulled the bra down a bit, it must have kept slipping, and there was a bit of a ridge of bare flesh that kind of protruded a little. Not sure how that would pan out over the evening. I can hardly keep pulling it up can I? So, I didn't buy them. Now I'm not sure what to do.

Candy Apple - we should just tell Barry and Teresa that we will be the group with the biggest smiles! We are sure to be recognized!

I just realised ......

WE ARE GOING ON THE WBTA DISNEY MAGIC CRUISE THIS MONTH !!!!!!!!

Yes .... after almost 2 years since we booked we have finally reached September 2010 !!! I am really having to pinch myself here :rotfl2:

2 weeks tomorrow we will be leaving :woohoo::scared1::woohoo::scared1:

:dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo:

2 WEEKS FROM TODAY WE WILL BE FLYING TO BARCELONA:yay::dance3:

Lindsay and I have been going on the Disney cruises for the past 5 September's to celebrate our birthdays. She'll be 23 on 9/26 and on the 23rd, I'll be .... well let's say older :rotfl:

Can't wait to see everyone. :grouphug:

Bev :)

:grouphug: See you on the 17th about 10:30A!!!! :grouphug:

Its "starting to panic" time now! I can't believe only 2 more weekends! I have I think only 10 days left in work (can't work it out as I've taken extra days off now so very confused!).

10 more work days for me too!! I am going to try and finish up the last minute buying of things this weekend and get started on packing....right now everything is still just thrown in the extra room on the bed.

Can't believe we sail THIS MONTH!!!!

They are only coolers unfortunately and only keep things cool for a while.

We did on our second cruise have a proper small fridge in the room for some reason, but that is the only time.

Its not a proper fridge its a drinks cooler which don't go that cold. They replace them with a proper fridge if you need it for medical purposes or so I've been told. The "fridge" we get is cold don't get me wrong just not fridge cold! The Dream however is going to have proper fridges so maybe they will slowly replace the Magic and Wonder ones.

Thanks for that info. I just thought it was a fridge.

Hey if anyone has bandanas at dinner and doesn't want them or has extra feel free to donate them to us! Were at Palos that night so wont be getting any as I've just realised!

Jason and I will save our bandanas for you...from both the Med and the TA if you want. We have our own pirate costumes (not very fancy for the Med but brand new colorful ones for the WBTA-----we're focusing most of our best outfits and dressing up on the TA...our princess vests, villain ties, masks, better pirate costumes, etc. are all going to be used for the TransAtlantic since we'll have more DIS friends on that trip....and more time to dress/prepare because we have very full days with the adventures by Disney package on teh Med).

Anyhow...we won't use our bandanas, so we'll save tehm for you, Sarah!

Well we're counting HOURS now before we head to the airport to begin our vacation!! (28.5 hours to be exact...in case anyone wanted to know! :cool1:)

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Last night I posted a new blog on our blog that has a picture of our main door magnet. I'm pretty proud of it. It's designed to go AROUND the circular stateroom number that is on your door and turn it into a "hidden mickey" and then it extends below and has a space/frame that is about 5" square. We've created 24 separate smaller magnets and every day the new "magnet of the day" will be going in that space so that magnet changes on a daily basis to reflect where we are or what we're doing that day! And then when the day is over, we'll move the old magnet to the bottom of the door and replace it with the next magnet----so by the end of the cruise we should have a magnet for all 24 days of our cruise (except disembarkation day) on our door! Since we're so close to the laundry you'll all have to check it out while you're waiting for your mentionables, unmentionables and spanx to dry! :rotfl:

Definitely!! I will probably have the boys wear one of their old DCL kids club shirts, so it will be easy to spot us.

Abby will be wearing her shirt that says Forever Young, with Minnie ears on them! Look for us and don't be shy!!! We will look for you!

Erik - just read the board and you are right, I DID try to sneak a peek at the lanyards. I love your blog - best I have read and so enjoy!!

Hello everyone -

I was last on Page 111, so if there's anything between when Gizmo Sarah published the nearly final mini-navigator and now, I've missed it. So if there was anything specifically addressed to me, please PM me. I do know I have some hotel and flight updates to make, so I'll try to get to those this weekend.

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone. She had better predictions a few days before that, to the point that she would go home and start chemo that would prolong her life for about a year. Not sure if she had really even decided to move forward on that plan or not. Everything just changed SO fast. I'm thankful that three other friends and I got to be with her all of her last day on Earth on Saturday. So for those who believe, please pray for her mom who's now lost her soul mate and her first born. They are an extremely close family, and anywhere you saw Becky, her mom was with her. Parents just shouldn't have to watch their children come in and out of the world. I'm getting ready to head back to my hometown for calling hours tonight and her funeral tomorrow, so her family really needs some extra strength in the next 24 hours and beyond.

Then....I have to get back home for Lisa's memorial on Thursday. She's the one who I told you drowned in the Atlantic on August 15. I highly encourage all of you to "Like" the group "Shea It Forward" (like pay-it-forward) on Facebook in honor of her. Share random acts of kindness that you've given out or received. It's so enriching to see how wonderfully selfless people can be.

I hope everyone's pre-boarding plans are being executed and everyone's really excited. I have to admit that I've had a hard time with my checklist nor desire to read the boards, but thankfully I had a huge jump start on my packing. See...things happen for a reason.

My mom is going to come down and stay with me Friday. We're going to finally go see the Titanic exhibit at COSI here in Columbus. Its exhibit is over here on Monday, so we had to get it in this week since we failed to do it earlier. Despite the timing, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I was so disappointed when it was here last time and I missed it. This time, they have artifacts that haven't ever been displayed to the public before, so I guess it will be even better.

On Thursday night or Friday, I'll try to get back on and stick with you all until we begin our adventure! I really can't wait to be with all of you. Many of you have been soooo supportive to me on Facebook (you know who you are!), and I really really appreciate it. I know sometimes people just don't have the words to say, and I assure you I feel you thinking of me, too.

To all of our B2Bers who are about to leave, have safe travels and a WONDERFUL time on your Med cruise! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Love you all!
Kimberly
:grouphug:

Kimberly, I am so sorry for your recent losses. You are doing such a wonderful service by being with your friend at the end and celebrating and treasuring the time you had together with both of your lost friends. I hope this cruise is an opportunity for you to rest and renew your spirit.

Welcome aboard Barry and Theresa!!

We are Noel and John Birkner from Woodside, California. I am 59 and John is 66. This is our 4th DCL cruise though we have cruised many times on other cruise lines.

Other DIS members I am sure will answer more of your questions, so let me give you some general information about our cruise thread.

Be sure you read page one and two of this thread for all the exciting things that are happening on this cruise. Here is a partial list.

1. You may want to send a PM (Private Message)DisneyVegas1 to see if there are any cruise shirts left. Here is the Link to what the the shirts look like. Last post I believe there was 1 AS. If that size don't work for you, you can print a copy of the logo from the transatlantic pirates site and make an iron on tee shirt

2. PM Buckeye Gal with your hotel and flight information, see post #9

3. Decide if you want Mickey Mouse shirts which some of us are wearing to dinner of Sept 28 and if you want to join us to order them or make you own, see post #1

4. If you want to link your dining reservations with fellow DIS board members, PM (Private Message) Angie (Mrs. Mork) if you are early dining or PM (Private Message) Sarah (Totally Angelic) if you are late dining.

5. Sign up on the roll call and send your pictures via email to the our cruise website at Transatlantic Pirateswebsite.

Once registered you can add in the activities you are interested in that are OPEN - so the HRC meet, as well as any excursions that you are taking. All of the DCL excursions are pre loaded into the system, so it is easy!

Post a question or PM (Private Message) to either Sue (su_kraft) or Glenn (Buckeye Goofy) if you have questions!!

6. PM (Private Message) Connie (Con5421) if you would like to purchase a lanyard pin. see post #6.

7. Let Michael (mdwoodman)by PM (Private Message) know if you can join the HRC pre cruise meet on 17 September @ 1700. See Post 15.

8. If you are interested in seeing if there are any cruise wrist bands left, you should PM (Private Message) Krisann (KrisannB). See post #21 for details.

If you cannot send Krisann a PM, please email her at akblair@charter.net

9. PM (Private Message) Sarah (Gismo1554) if you have any special occasions or birthdays that you are celebrating on board so she can put in our personal cruise Navigator.

10. The personal Navigator that was created for our cruise can be viewed on post #15.

11. An electronic version of the personal Navigator that can be view on on your iPhone or Droid can be downloaded if you go to this post here.

Hope that gives you a good place to start. Any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask us and we will do our best to answer them for you before the cruise.

Noel

I had the same issue with the Gok Wan thing I ordered. Ended up sending back. I've got some QVC spanx Ill have to wear but I think these are just gonna make Dan laugh as theyll take 20 mins to put on lol!

Thanks for that info. I just thought it was a fridge.

Yeah I only found out when I was looking at medical information sheet once and it said about it! I think its fine for most stuff but doesn't keep milk as cold as mine does at home so I guess this is the only difference

Jason and I will save our bandanas for you...from both the Med and the TA if you want. Thanks Eric! You're an absolute star! Can't wait to see all your outfits! It was so great being on the same dining rotation as you in 2007 as we used to love seeing the different vests and colours! Your way too creative!

With pancreatitis the diet is low fat and low protein because of pain as they stimulate the pancreas. The alcohol continues to damage the pancreas once you have had pancreatitis. If I hadn't still been having pain and been back to the doctors, then I would have had alcohol in food this time, but never to drink ever again, but with still having problems I am going to keep off the food alcohol!!

If it could have been proved that the pancreatitis was caused by gallstones then I might have been able to drink again, but because it was only the most possible cause for me then no way!! Normally, having had my gallbladder out, I would have been able to have nice fatty meals again though.;)

Once through those 5 nights in the middle of nowhere I will try a little more pleasurable fat(desserts) as I am not on a NO fat diet!!!:rotfl2: That is not good for the body.

I hope you keep well.:)

Since I had my gallbladder out, I can not eat beef without having a severe digestive reaction. For whatever reason, as long as I avoid beef, I seem to be fine. I try to eat lower fats because it it healthier and drink less, if no alcohol as I was able to loose 35 pounds by eating less fat and giving alcohol up totally.

On the cruise, I will drink some DOD's and wine, but in much more moderation that in the past.
